A few months back, The Man, The Myth, The Legend of Competitive Eating & Chugging himself...Eric "Badlands" Booker (BAdlandsCHugs) decided to create "The Thick Water" Challenge. Many people believe it or not have trouble swallowing water and since 1987 the THICK-IT company has provided a solution to this problem. When Thick It powder is added to water, it literally turns water from a clear smooth substance into a thick HONEY like texture to help people get water down, but in the process makes the water look and taste absolutely horrific and seeing BAdlands Chugs grimace after he downed a 2 liter bottle of Thick Water made L.A. BEAST realize that this challenge was right up his alley. Last week after also seeing Fellow Friend Furious Pete down 2 liters of thick water, the L.A. BEAST went to the store, bought some thick it and decided to throw his hat into the ring to see if he could become the Thick Water Chugging Champion....Will L.A. BEAST Succeed? As a former certified nursing assistant, my favorite is Honey thickened cranberry juice. Yep, certain people who have swallowing issues require a thickening agent. People are often evaluated by a specialist who can evaluate and recommend it. Usually you're not allowed to add the thickener to a residents liquids unless you have or get a Dr.s order. The thickening agent removed some of the cranberries bite. Mellowed it out. You can buy this at any drug store and grocery stores too.
