Will Saudi Pro League Beat The Premier League?
The Saudi Pro League has done incredible business this year and it has gotten so many people all around the football world asking the same question: what are those guys cooking over there?
It started out as them just targeting players who were past their prime in Europe, but it has quickly morphed into them managing to lure players of all kinds and ages.
Right now, the Saudi Pro League has more Ballon d'Or winners currently playing in their league than the entire Europe put together. Just let that sink in for a second.
So, it's not so crazy to ask the question, will the Saudi Pro League beat the Premier League?

Saudis are ambitious, but not unrealistic.
We never claimed to aim to be better or even close to the PL. The goal is to be top 10 by 2030, and hopefully staying there for the foreseeable future.

1- Saudi league viewers 2M/Season is absolutely Wrong!
2- La Liga, Seria A and Bundesliga are not popular because the competition is always between arguably two clubs if not dominated by one, Boring leagues. While Saudi’s competition is always between 4-5 clubs which is the case in Premier league Top 6!

Continental competition is a right for everyone. Also, we will see more development of football, and the emergence of players and international leagues. Football is not for monopoly, by the way, the population of the Middle East and Arabs is close to one billion. Remember the World Cup in the coming years will be more excited. Let's be with the Saudi League for the football game. And we must encourage Saudi Arabia to this contribution.

  • @ouparamoba6715

The government of Saudi Arabia has a financial advantage over European governments. Most European governments have budget deficits while the Saudis have a surplus of cash. The Saudis want to use their advantage to grow their domestic league by buying superstar players from big leagues in Europe and that can have terrible outcomes. Big clubs in Europe have academies and other foundation structures for football development, this is the reason why there is continuity in their leagues. If Saudi Arabia is focusing only on buying superstars while they don't have proper academies, their Pro League clubs will implode. The Premier League in England has attracted many talented players from all over the world, that popularised the Premier League without diminishing the quality of the product. The England national team is also playing good football. Spanish clubs bought superstars from other leagues into La Liga and it worked for them because the structures and institutions are there, they backed it up by delivering good football on the pitch. The FIFA World XI players were from Spanish clubs, the Spanish national team was unbeatable and unplayable for a long time. If the Saudis are on the right path, Saudi Arabian football clubs should dominate Asian football in the coming 2 - 3 years and perform satisfactorily in the FIFA Club World Cup. That is how we will know if they tried to take short cut or not, money does not always get the desired outcomes.

Premier league is the greatest than the Saudi league, why? If premier league is only one country the wealth is higher than country Kosovo and tajakistan also Angola. It gives higher GDP for UK, unlike Saudi who is transferring big players to there league but the power of football is based on those huge names only, so if ronaldo moving to other clubs it has huge uncertainty of fame for Saudi league. It has huge difference between having great players who get payed actually and between having influential league. Huge gap

The PL know the importance of having full stadiums with a great atmosphere. Check the stats the Saudi league isn't even as big as league 1 (the 3rd tier of English football), the Saudi league averaged 9K attendance last season compared to 10K in league 1. The biggest club Al-Hilal averaged 9,541 last season, that's less than non league club Wrexham. (Note: Appreciate Al-Hilal had 59K last week but most of the clubs still can't break 10K). Can't see how matches played in half empty small athletics stadiums will capture the imagination. My prediction is the league will attract millions of views from Arab countries but it will be too alien and contrived for more traditional Western powerhouse countries. However any efforts to expand the game in new markets is welcome, wish Saudi (and the MLS for that matter) every success and will be interesting to see how this experiment progresses.

    • @emar_mora
      @emar_mora Před 9 měsíci +2

Check out the average attendance in the Portuguese league and Turkish league. 11.6K and 12.2k. The Saudi league is 10.2k. And it’s just the beginning as well. And true only like 5/6 ish teams have decent attendance but that’s just how it is in most leagues. Laliga doesn’t even triple the saudi league and it’s been the greatest league in the last decade. But yeah the premier league is at a different level. But viewership wise what was mentioned in the video can’t be correct. The Saudi league has 2.080 million attendees last season not viewers lol and with the likes of Ronaldo playing you can only imagine how many Asian football fans and African and from all over the world would be watching. Because most of The fans of European football are outside of Europe.

I really love epl and no league can beat them for now but what Saudi needs to do is go on a countrywide tour popularizing soccer even more and doing more research by identifying if football is still in Saudis hearts thus laying a strong foundation domestically.
Then being professional by honouring contracts of all players not just big names.
Then pushing for worldwide acceptance by providing quality viewership and also affordable complete with best English speaking commentators.
On world fans especially in my country Kenya Saudi will have a hard times coz my people have this weakness, when they love something they go all in and trash talk any potential rivals thus why politicians finds it simple to brainwash us.
It's very simple to brain wash Kenyans, just make sure they are hooked and you are set.
And finally, Saudi don't be fooled that you must have the best academy, Barca and epl have but they are forever buying big stars instead of growing.
Success only needs best players, good managers, big money and a football culture plus being very professional which Arabs lacks due to being cocky coz of natural money which they have in plenty. Thanks!!

Also, the most important Saudi has opened academies to attract more talented Saudi players and make the league depend on our players more than the stars.

But there's probably a huge market in North Africa and the Middle East to tap into. I don't agree with many points you mentioned in this video.
    1. European leagues are better because they have a football crazy fan base. The population of Saudi is divided between many games.
    2. Saudi league are still mostly signing old players and rejects from Europe.
    3. What happens when ronaldo retires? Who's actually gonna watch that league. Even with ronaldo Al Nassr had 1/10th of viewers of an average EPL game, I don't even know how many people watch games of lesser known teams.
    4. The money they are spending right has to stop one day because at the end of the day it's a business, can they still match salaries of eruopean clubs after 5 years when all the big name signing retire?
    5. We all have an example of China, a country which has the highest dollar reserves (6 times of saudi) but even they couldn't implement the sports washing technique.
