Can't defend because you're on Ultra Attacking all game. Play balanced and change the play style to Possession or a counter attacking style.
Would also offer to be a bit more patient with the tackles. Jockey and stay in front of the AI with your CB's close to your box, take away angles so your keeper can make the save. Push the AI away from the center and toward the sides of goal. Also, cut competitive mode off till you get bored.
Even then, it is fifa, everyone can hit a screamer. Brighton are the bane of my life.

Some player instructions for you that work best on the 4-3-3 full back set to stay back while attacking and overlap only ...CDM to drop between defenders and cover center ...CM to cover center and move forward ..rw and LW stay wide and get in behind ..st to get in behind ..for the counter attack or play as false 9 to being your team to join the attack ..it helps alot in your team attacking..and one center back set to conservative preferrebly the slowest defender and the other normal

How to tackle:
Get close to the player who has the ball and once you get close to the player press the tackle button which is circle ⭕️ on classic for PS4. I do this and it helps. Hope it helps Mark.

The last FIFA that you could defend properly on was FIFA 17. I started 19 having skipped 18 and just went back to 17 as it was driving me crazy not being able to defend. I presume 20 and 21 are just as bad?
