- Continuing with their anniversary hunt, Mitch and Lynn are in the high country on an elk hunt in search of late season horseback bulls. With some hunting pressure in the area from other hunters, they move to a new location and find multiple bulls in a high country saddle. With lots of dailylight left they wait them out and put a great bull on the ground!

Yea I agree I love it when she can come out and hunt with me but work gets in the way of her joining on more trips. We do as many as we can together!

Awesome hunt! Curious if you went to the range after this hunt to see if the scope maybe got bumped? Misses do happen though. Your videography has improved a lot in the last year!

As for the rifle no we packed it away and will be doing some shooting this spring once it warms up lol.
Freaking love your guy's video's, not just the kill shots but the comradery with everyone at Alpine Carnivore. An for the haters they obviously haven't followed you guy's from the beginning like some of us, you are all about ethical harvests. For someone to suggest that you let the animal suffer just so the 1st person that shot the animal can "claim" it was there kill đ€ is ridiculous an not what Alpine Carnivore is about. I wish people could just scroll on instead of adding ignorant comments but apparently their lives are way to shitty an they can't help themselves. I loved being in the mountains but now I got 6 plates of metal a bone graph an 36 pins an screws holding my foot on an then are house burnt down so have to rebuild my gear so I live through your videos

She's so cute. You goober. You shouldn't have taken the rifle. Hunting is hardworking. It's such an accomplishment to get your first. I've been taking my buddy the last 4 years.. and also with tag soup. Shooting 5 plus rounds and not hitting anything.. to hitting a big deer last year and losing it.. This year was his first kill.. first cow elk. He shot it at 465 and hit the leg.. wanted me to shoot.. said nope. We hiked and found her around the mtn and he got her at 165. Happiest adrenaline filled hour of his life.
In my opinion thereâs 2 ways to look at it this is not the first time Lynn hunted sheâs killed a lot of shit. This would be her first elk, not her first animal.
I donât believe in letting animals suffer more than they have to ever.
So as nice as it would be for Lynn to kill it Iâm not about to let a potentially wounded animal run out of range. that doesnât sit well with me, or with her. Thatâs why she asked me to take the rifle, as it was to far of a shot for her to take.

Good job, even better job getting your wife involved into hunting, we need more female role models. And for Lynn, it happens, even after several decades of hunting. I suspect Lynn will get a giant in the very near future.

@@AlpineCarnivore No but it is on my bucket list. It seems like 900 deer on that small island according to my google research. And it is open all year around without bug limit. Also it is just 1,5 hour boat ride from Vancouver. Just by Swartz Bay.

@@AlpineCarnivore Judging by the elevations you stated you were at, and where treeline was in the video (very high), I'd comfortably venture that this trip wasn't anywhere in Canada. Elevations of 11,000+ ft will put you on, or well above, many summits in the Canadian Rockies. And treeline in southern Canadian ranges will be anywhere from 6000 to 8000+ ft. So I'm going to guess either the Wind River Range in Wyoming, or somewhere in Colorado.
11k in the northern Rockies would be just ice and rock. 7000 ft in Wyoming could look like the prairies

That was the correct call to commandeer the rifle. If she had hit it, and it wasnât a kill shot, then youâd be tracking a wounded elk, and you may have not got it.

If you paid any attention the entire hunt we talk about killing 2 bulls. no shit we had 2 tags.
And to reiterate again the bull ran out past where she was comfortable shooting.
it would be irresponsible for me to let her keep shooting at it.
As we said in the video weâre here for the meat, the person who actually killed the bull is irrelevant and if you donât get that then I have nothing left to say to you.

You âleadedâ him because he was moving pretty good? He had barely taken a step. You almost missed, so donât pretend that shot was intentional. Sorry, you should always be honest with your viewers, it showâs integrity. Maybe thatâs the reason why she missed, the rifle was off 2 feet to the left. When she asked, where should I shoot him, heâs quartering to me and you said, âbehind the front shoulderâ she even questioned you. Always aim for the exit. Behind the front shoulder was bad advice on a quartering towards animal. Slightly in front of the shoulder would have been a higher percentage, more ethical shot placement.
