Am I wrong for thinking its one of the better releases this year? I didn't really care about camila's last album but this one caught my attention. I'm enjoying it A LOT. The album is paying homage to miami, seamlessly blending hip-hop and rap with pop and even giving us song of the year worth ballads. Kinda wished you would've reacted to this with a more open mind. The girls that get it, get it!
Typically refrain myself from commenting on reviews but when I see that the math ain’t mathing in a review, several points have to be shared. Yes, music is subjective and should be respected but when one comes into an album with a very narrow mindset, then it becomes a bit harder to take that reviewer in a serious manner. The attitude throughout the whole review seemed forced and there was already a set judgement on each song. It’s very normal to find similarities in the “sound” that other artists use, but to do in a way that trashes the artist’s work and vision, idk doesn’t sit right with me. Yes, I do believe that we are reaching a point within the music scene in that, sonically, music production will sound similar due to the many melodies, chords, etc.. that can be used. However, when a review’s main focus is to focus on comparing artist to artist, there is a loss of credibility to the review. And this review, though respected, gives off that vibe, pure comparison without listening to the craftsmanship of the production. The interpolations of “classic” songs in this album are very well crafted and purposed. This album really embodies how samples should be used in the production unlike other artists that use it and it doesn’t make sense. Especially in B.O.A.T! The sample that she took from a very classic party anthem, in theory is very left field/shouldn’t work but it does in a very genius way. First listen, I was like huh, then I went back and was like wait this hits very deep. Dade County Dreaming, that piano switch elevates the song and City Girls rapping over it, is fire and insane. It really sticks the landing. The whole album is very sonically pleasing, yes unconventional with the layering of vocals, production but that is very refreshing and unique to hear. I wouldn’t categorize this as hyper-pop at all. Maybe like 10 seconds of certain songs but the whole album has its own personality. This is a love letter to Miami, the sounds are hip-hop influenced mix with an unconventional sound of pop. To say its sounds very inauthentic, when this her most authentic work, perhaps we listened to a different album. This is a sound that she has experimented before, if u go back to other songs in her discography, there are snippets of the sound that is present within this album. Never really considered myself a fan of her music, would vibe and appreciate it but never really got into. This album changed that for me. From the first snippet of I Luv It, very different sonically, weird at first but like after a few listens , I was eating it up. She is eating this era up and a lot of the pop stars with the visuals, performances, aesthetic. This rebrand of hers is what most people on Twitter are saying “one of the best rebrands in recent years” and I quote. She had a clear direction for this album and it pays off in the end. I’m very surprised and happy that Twitter is really loving this album. Most of them, whom I have read never expect to actually like it or have never been actual fans but the general consensus is that she gave us the AOTY. To see stan Twitter give this album a very warm reception is very refreshing because they are allowing themselves to listen to the album with an open mind. With all due respect, looks like you will be in the few minority that don’t like this album/see the vision. But all love.

I didn’t care for a lot of this album but not because it’s anything remotely like Charli xcx, because it isn’t. That comparison is a surface level way of taking in music and just sounds like stan twitter who are hellbent on creating fights. Charli has never gone this far into rap/hip-hop and sampling. I don’t think you’re a big fan of that genre so that’s probably the big reason you really don’t like this, because obviously there are other artists who primarily create surface level basic music you will sometimes like (Kim Petras) so I think it all depends on that genre influence. Definitely came off as unnecessarily mean at times, but again I think that comes from being a Charli fan so not gonna hold it against you.

the album just wasn’t good and it was all over the place. the way she was promoting the album was nothing like we envisioned it to be with most of the “snippets” not even being in the album . funny thing is i believe the project probably would’ve been received better if she’d had actually gone down the “hyperpop “ route she was teasing
this was heartbreaking to watch. as someone who loves and appreciates this album for the creative freedom from camila, it just shows how little you and the audience care for her. this was her first self-written album, and personally i believe it is the best roll out of her's to date.

I don't know, i was searching for something more experimental due to I Luv It single, but in general it is an okay album, hope Camila gets more riske in her future works. B.O.A.T, twentysomethings and He Knows are my favorites. Probably another album released the same day, God Said No by Omar Apollo, is going to be in my 2024 favorite albuns instead of this.

I’m writing a review of this myself and my biggest issue is wear every influence on her sleeve. The nods to Lana, Sza, etc. are too on the nose. Camila needs to find a sound that’s all her own. As it stands, it feels costume. The production is fantastic however.

You feelings are so valid because SAME for me. The two songs I liked were B.O.A.T and Chanel No.5, everything else sounded like an absolutely mess to me. You guys saying he was "having a bad day" or that he was "rude" but I was someone who was ALL in. When I heard He Knows, I was sooo excited for C, XOXO and became a big Camila supporter. With that in mind, I was incredibly disappointed with this album. Wayyy too short. There was also wayyyy too many slow songs for an electro-pop album. I was so bored the entire time. I wouldn't say it was atrocious but I didn't enjoy it. My thought is that a lot of you guys commenting are Camila glazers bc most of the public did not like this album.
Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I think if you're doing an album review, you should at least go into it openminded and not with the intention of completely killing something off. As somebody who tired my absolute hardest to give this album a fair chance (and was hoping I’d be pleasantly surprised), this album was not it imo. Really appreciate the effort to experiment with not-so traditional sounds but everything comes off so inauthentic. Maybe that’s why every song reminds us of 20 other artists instead of whoever Camila is as an artist. I think fuller fleshed out ideas, less interludes & more authenticity MIGHT’VE saved this album 😃❤️

Im very eh about this album. I didnt love it. I dont hate it all. but i dont understand it so I'm letting it be what it'll be. The entire review shows how he enters the album with his own pre-conceived opinions, and it seems like he already made up his mind on what the work is. Basically he was just wasting his time recording himself to an album that he knows he was already gonna hate. Edited it and uploaded it to share with other people who would also like to trash on work. The guy wants to use his platform to let everyone know that he hates it and that we should too, we should acknowledge that. To describe the work as “terrible” at this day and age is fine cos sure people are entitled to their opinions but it also shows what kind of reviewer/youtuber he is, which is biased and not an objective listener. So like how he said, why listen to this music when you can listen to others? We can skip this CZcamsr for more objective reviews cos why listen to a rude man when you can listen to better, nicer, funnier youtubers. I really liked it, it's very careless and it's the vibe I want for summer. HOWEVER, I wish there had been more PUM PUM PUM moments, you know? more songs like he knows and pretty when I cry. Speaking of Dade County dreaming, I feel like that one could have exploded more but hey, it is what it is, maybe with the deluxe it will rise and give us more energy, a more powerful type.

The interpolations of “classic” songs in this album are very well crafted and purposed. This album really embodies how samples should be used in the production unlike other artists that use it and it doesn’t make sense. Especially in B.O.A.T! The sample that she took from a very classic party anthem, in theory is very left field/shouldn’t work but it does in a very genius way. First listen, I was like huh, then I went back and was like wait this hits very deep. Dade County Dreaming, that piano switch elevates the song and City Girls rapping over it, is fire and insane. It really sticks the landing.
The whole album is very sonically pleasing, yes unconventional with the layering of vocals, production but that is very refreshing and unique to hear. I wouldn’t categorize this as hyper-pop at all. Maybe like 10 seconds of certain songs but the whole album has its own personality. This is a love letter to Miami, the sounds are hip-hop influenced mix with an unconventional sound of pop. To say its sounds very inauthentic, when this her most authentic work, perhaps we listened to a different album. This is a sound that she has experimented before, if u go back to other songs in her discography, there are snippets of the sound that is present within this album.
Never really considered myself a fan of her music, would vibe and appreciate it but never really got into. This album changed that for me. From the first snippet of I Luv It, very different sonically, weird at first but like after a few listens , I was eating it up. She is eating this era up and a lot of the pop stars with the visuals, performances, aesthetic. This rebrand of hers is what most people on Twitter are saying “one of the best rebrands in recent years” and I quote. She had a clear direction for this album and it pays off in the end.
I’m very surprised and happy that Twitter is really loving this album. Most of them, whom I have read never expect to actually like it or have never been actual fans but the general consensus is that she gave us the AOTY. To see stan Twitter give this album a very warm reception is very refreshing because they are allowing themselves to listen to the album with an open mind. With all due respect, looks like you will be in the few minority that don’t like this album/see the vision. But all love.

I didn’t care for a lot of this album but not because it’s anything remotely like Charli xcx, because it isn’t. That comparison is a surface level way of taking in music and just sounds like stan twitter who are hellbent on creating fights. Charli has never gone this far into rap/hip-hop and sampling. I don’t think you’re a big fan of that genre so that’s probably the big reason you really don’t like this, because obviously there are other artists who primarily create surface level basic music you will sometimes like (Kim Petras) so I think it all depends on that genre influence. Definitely came off as unnecessarily mean at times, but again I think that comes from being a Charli fan so not gonna hold it against you.

I don't know, i was searching for something more experimental due to I Luv It single, but in general it is an okay album, hope Camila gets more riske in her future works. B.O.A.T, twentysomethings and He Knows are my favorites.
Probably another album released the same day, God Said No by Omar Apollo, is going to be in my 2024 favorite albuns instead of this.

I’m writing a review of this myself and my biggest issue is wear every influence on her sleeve. The nods to Lana, Sza, etc. are too on the nose. Camila needs to find a sound that’s all her own. As it stands, it feels costume. The production is fantastic however.

You guys saying he was "having a bad day" or that he was "rude" but I was someone who was ALL in. When I heard He Knows, I was sooo excited for C, XOXO and became a big Camila supporter. With that in mind, I was incredibly disappointed with this album. Wayyy too short. There was also wayyyy too many slow songs for an electro-pop album. I was so bored the entire time. I wouldn't say it was atrocious but I didn't enjoy it. My thought is that a lot of you guys commenting are Camila glazers bc most of the public did not like this album.

As somebody who tired my absolute hardest to give this album a fair chance (and was hoping I’d be pleasantly surprised), this album was not it imo. Really appreciate the effort to experiment with not-so traditional sounds but everything comes off so inauthentic. Maybe that’s why every song reminds us of 20 other artists instead of whoever Camila is as an artist. I think fuller fleshed out ideas, less interludes & more authenticity MIGHT’VE saved this album 😃❤️

Im very eh about this album. I didnt love it. I dont hate it all. but i dont understand it so I'm letting it be what it'll be. It does come off as very inauthentic given it's a completely different sound than she normally does and i felt like all the appearances and samples were trying to tell us rather than show us Miami (or whatever her inspo was). Also she said in an interview that chanel no.5 is her as a song and i was like girl i hope not 😣. I was dying at the interlude of the dude saying he cries to her myself cos i def can't relate but ya know, whatev.

The entire review shows how he enters the album with his own pre-conceived opinions, and it seems like he already made up his mind on what the work is. Basically he was just wasting his time recording himself to an album that he knows he was already gonna hate. Edited it and uploaded it to share with other people who would also like to trash on work. The guy wants to use his platform to let everyone know that he hates it and that we should too, we should acknowledge that.
To describe the work as “terrible” at this day and age is fine cos sure people are entitled to their opinions but it also shows what kind of reviewer/youtuber he is, which is biased and not an objective listener. So like how he said, why listen to this music when you can listen to others? We can skip this CZcamsr for more objective reviews cos why listen to a rude man when you can listen to better, nicer, funnier youtubers.
He is definitely “real” for saying the things he said about a female artist, we should give him that. Pitting female artists against female artists, we already know how old that narrative goes. But at the end of the day, let’s remember that while she is the female artist, he is still the man in front of a camera trying to get views by judging said artist. Take note of that too.
Since this is the kind of guy he wants to be seen as online, then he should be remembered as such.

I really liked it, it's very careless and it's the vibe I want for summer. HOWEVER, I wish there had been more PUM PUM PUM moments, you know? more songs like he knows and pretty when I cry. Speaking of Dade County dreaming, I feel like that one could have exploded more but hey, it is what it is, maybe with the deluxe it will rise and give us more energy, a more powerful type.
i love how from the jump of this reaction you started comparing it to brat just because other people were 💀 babe if you actually took a second to listen to the album and get into the vibe of it, you would realize that it is NOTHING like brat. not even close. as a fan of both charli and camila you can tell that they are very different albums. brat is very edm / club inspired, whereas cxoxo is hip hop /miami inspired which are VERY different things. i can get not liking the album which is fine, everyone is entitled to like whatever the want, but deliberately shitting on the album every second you can is not okay. talking bad about someone’s craft that took them years to make is never okay no matter how bad it actually is, because they very well could have put their most into the making of it and now you’re talking horrible about it. here’s an example. lets say you go and get that horrible lump of hair you call your mullet touched up and styled better to make it look nicer and you show your best friend and they say it looks awful, and that you should have never done that, that you look like a child predator, you would feel horrible wouldn’t you ?? exactly. you would. so next time you go shitting on someone’s work be mindful with your wording 🥰🤣😘💋🙏
