I just came to say THANK YOU.. I LITERALLY had the same problem.. I watched your video and was like.. it can't possibly work that easily for me.. I did it exactly the way you did and IT WORKED!!! it took a couple sprays .. and I used a screwdriver to open the plastic cover a bit to get a really good spray in there.. and within 5 minutes I had them both off.. you're a lifesaver

appreciate this video, have a near mint 95 firehawk, gonna try this tomorrow and pray I didn't mess it up forcing that handle last time I tried to get it moving - will report if I succeed!

Just make sure they’re unlocked when you do it. You can force them when they’re locked. It’s completely unnerving but I’ve done it before and the pieces that bend can be bent back. Not the desired method, but if my video method doesn’t work for you, it’s a thought…

I had this issue, but it's always good to learn something new about Firebirds.

I tried what you said and was able to get passenger side to free up but the driver side has the rear hook stuck in place, even when I move handle back and forth. It is lifted and won’t seat back into place now. Any solutions?

If it is lifted, you have probably gone past the mechanical stop. It is possible to continue moving it at your own risk and if you’re able to get it free that way, you can bend everything back once you get it off. Up to you, because there are no guarantees you won’t damage something that way.

@@FearlessMods by lifted I mean entire glass is above the seal. I can move the entire top around but that back hook is still latched. Afraid if I drive car it will fly off.

Since I took it out of the seal I can now not put t-top back into place. It is just resting on top now pretty much.

@@mcbride991 I'm not sure what is going on with yours but it sounds like the male locking pin(s) is maybe rusted into the female receiver. I was able to get mine, but yours may require more drastic measures like cutting the plastic off to get better access. Maybe you could ebay another t-top and steal the plastics off it to get yours good once you've gotten it off? Definitely wouldn't drive it with the top partially unlocked/out of it's grooves!

Just a little finesse let it sit for a while don't force anything you don't want to break the handle how come those had the same problem
