Lyrics:
Night, the world, it’s mine, with nobody else out here
It’s time, run wild and royally cavalier
To burn, ignite, I’d do it for so much less
When all is made clear there is nothing else
And here we stand, the sweet arresting duality
And I come to, it’s resin all over me
Will I awake, will I get a ride with you
In this race of two
We’re an endless stream of choices
We’re the softest murmur of voices
Without names we’re fantasising
Dancing like flames, mesmerising
My dark disquiet playing such eerie harmonies
Making waves and diving under
Lightning to the sound of thunder
My dark disquiet singing such haunting melodies
So white, so still, so bright, it’s almost too painful now
I’m ready to fight, to run from the light
And here now comes the sweet corrupting reality
While now I’m free, will I once cease to be
Will I awake, will I get a ride with you
In this race of two
We are momentary masters
We’re false kings and bastards
Without names we’re fantasising…
We are marionettes by strings animated
Yet like lovers of strings liberated
Without names we’re fantasising…
Brothers by blood separated
Marionettes animated
Lovers of strings liberated - Hudba
I'm curious how many other people found this song in the acoustic lab in Control. It's a pretty solid song
Me
I just barely found it. I was quite surprised and I wish that Jesse actually reacted as I assume the NPCs did.
Just did 😉
Just found it and noticed the lyrics where on the chalk board as well
I'm still wondering what the Bearu was doing with this song. What kind of research was it involved in?
I can surmise why Ahti had Take Control. It was basically Jesse's song, but what were they doing with this song?
This song is an object of power
Quite litteraly
more like an AWE
That explains why they have a room dedicated to playing it and nothing else.
I think it's an altered item
@@x827 why would I think that
I think I understand why they had this playing on the biggest speakers they had in the lab
For science ! ... hum...
Yes. Science.

Bruh, if I had a lab, I'd to the same
They probably had to convince The Board that the song was an OoP to get the budget for that room :P
Who else stood in the acoustic lab listening to this song 2x times in a row? So amazing 💯
So far...just you!
If I didn't need a good night's rest for work, I might have.
Yeah, when this happened, it caught me off guard completely and I couldn't stop listening to this. It's not even the type of music I would typically listen to but it's MUSIC and it's fucking amazing, I can't deny that in any way. I love Control and Remedy so, so much. I love being introduced to new music as well : )
@Double_Baked Haha, that happened for me right after I was done listening to it once. But once was all I was gonna listen anyway, afterall those side missions don't do themselves and I'm not even done the main story yet.
I mean.. it saves in your codex thing.. so you can listen to it wherever/whenever. But then I remembered youtube was a thing. xD
This song is an Object of Power. It makes you break out into dance, with the secondary ability of making you want to play Control
Altered item... I think
@@churchofeg nope, definitely an Object of Power. It's bound to me now.
*cries in potato pc*
More like an Altered World Event (AWE)
What?? Jesse doesn’t dance during the song…
Scanning through the comments, it seems a lot of people mention they found this in Control, but fail to understand why it is a OOP.
Poets of the Fall does NOT exist in the Remedy universe, they are instead 2 old Viking metal rockers known as Old Gods of Asgard (as met in Alan Wake).
If you check the disk in the lab, it clearly says Poets of the Fall, which implies this song is an outside universe OOP, from our reality.
Jesse also has a odd habit of mentioning memories that do not match the documented universe, yet also does NOT recognise the POTF name.
Old Gods of Asgard itself could also be considered another type of resonance (Also implied in Alan Wake DLC) as well as there songs contain hidden lyrics AND contain prophecies (we are now seeing come to pass in games).
Also take note of the lyrics in this song to the similarity of the events of Control itself. This means POTF are also setting prophecies, just like OGoA.
Insane amount of details and ground work that has been laid all the way since Alan Wake. Sure there are many more points I have forgotten.
I'm very glad the new game 'Control' has brought so many new people to this amazing band. Poets of the Fall has been one of my favourite bands for years.
Us Alan Wake fans been knew, but always glad to see them catch on even more!
Ever since Late Goodbye at the end of Max Payne 2 :)
I've never left ever since Late Goodbye
THANK YOU!
It's good to see someone appreciating all the people coming here now. Usually when songs appear in games and the comments get flooded with people talking about what brought them here there are always these idiots bragging about how they knew the band before the game came out.
Hopefully it does the same for Porcupine Tree
Nobody. Absolutely nobody. My cat at 3AM:
"Night, the world, it's mine, with nobody else out here. It's time, run wild and royally cavalier."
I remember clicking the button for the song. Realising it was just a song and then almost leave. I double-backed to just make sure the acoustic room had nothing to collect. And then I stood there absolutely enthralled by the song. Played it again as well. I love how everyone else has done the same and come here to listen to it again!
The first time I played through I ignored it completely, can't believe I missed it for so long. I only listened on my second playthrough to see if there was some kind of hidden special effect or something and realized I loved this song!
I stumbled upon the acoustics lab on accident, punched the button, and heard some music. By the end of the song, I was literally crying tears of joy.
I stood there after the song finished waiting to collect something or waiting for Jesse to say something but she never does… am I missing something? The note in the lab asked the listener questions about what they experienced during the song. I turned my volume up to see if there was some distinguished audio under the song but couldn’t hear anything
Literally what I did lol
I did a little dance in that room.
A great Finnish game, a great Finnish band, a great Finnish song.
It's a real shame you can finish the game though.
@@PaulHoleybatch let's see if dosen't end like days gone
Don't know why, but finding this masterpiece in acoustic room was such a surreal meta moment.
I though the same! Also when I reached that sector in the game, I believed that was the "musical level" mentioned by the band itself on Instagram....but... but...when I finally get the walkman from Athi in order to walk through the Laberynth Maze...my mind exploded!
I love the way every ambient sound just abruptly cuts off when you enter that room.
I find it really funny how both Old Gods and POTF Coexist in the same universe
This... is the Hiss they warn of.
To be fair the whole game is pretty surreal. And I fell on love with it. It would make one hell of a TV show. Kind of a modern x files.

I know this song wasn't written for Control, but it easily could be. "Can I get a ride with you in this race of two" fits too well for the Polaris situation.
Imagine a "Control" mystery scifi tv series with this as the intro song. They could easily make a cinematic and television universe in the style of x-files for tv and mystery horror anthology for Movies/ big screen.

Glad to see that Remedy Entertainment, after all these years, is still working with Poets of the Fall for their newest game Control. Loved you guys in Max Payne 2 and Alan Wake (and also Control).
When I first entered the room I just stopped playing and enjoyed this freaking awesome song. But I thought it was a song composed for the game but it looks like there's a real band behind this masterpiece of orchestra heavy metal. Lets go listen all of their songs lol
Fun fact: the same band preformed "Take Control" in the ashtray maze "Old Gods of Asgard" is the fake band
This same band did the soundtrack (or main song) for Max Payne 2 too. Also for a horror game, Allan Wake. All pretty awesome songs.
I know! I was playing for my boyfriend and we stopped and listened and were like "wow this is really good" and it's funny because he's Finnish and so is this band so that was a cool coincidence too!
Same. I came in look for mold people and found an addiction to my youtube music Playlist to play at work. I've been back to the room twice already.

Absolutely agree, it still gives me chills when I listen to it, though I can't say way. Maybe it really is an OOP.
They are literally the poets ... Each of their songs tells a story ... ❤️❤️❤️
The entire catalogue is a Magnum Opus. They are quite literally alchemists, no joke. It is all ONE story.
Songs telling a story is really typical for Finnish music but usually it tells of something like alcoholism or abuse so pretty typical Finnish things.
Ruoska - Karmeenpeesa comes to mind lmao
That was actually one of the plot points of Alan Wake
The story from ,control, gamd
An incredibly powerful song! The lines "We are momentary masters, We’re false kings and bastards" in the lyrics reminded me of Carl Sagan's "Pale Blue Dot" speech:
"The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot."
I wonder if this was the Poet's source of inspiration...
Check out Dream Theater s new song Pale Blue Dot
Knowing Marko Saaresto, it very well could be!
Wow. Incredible catch. I think that you're right. When i look at the poster of Thomas Zane in Alan Wake, it reminds me of the Pale Blue Dot speech. We can see Zane in a Diving suit, but in reality those suits were designed for space and tested underwater. On the poster, we can see the phrase " a pinprick of light in an ocean of Darkness " which reminds me of the pale blue dot image. Carl Sagan is also referenced in the introduction of Night Springs.
I interpreted it with this concept at the very least. Whether it's a direct quote and callback to that specific speech idk so much...
And yet as long as it's the only place we know has intelligent life it is justifiably the center of the universe. What better reason to spill blood than to rule the center of the universe?
I do not know about you... Control brought me here :)

You have good taste, 'mate👍.
The lab in control was the only reason I had ever heard of Poets of the fall and I haven't regretted a single moment as I've enjoyed every single song they've released.
Was watching my friend just casually play control on discord, he ran into the room and started being confused and just went "What, what song is this? I'm vibing" I just searched it up and here I am as I comeback after giving the link to him
I know this is just a fancy lyric video, but its also unironically one of my favorite music videos. The music slaps, and the visuals are hypnotic as fuck.

@@alessandrolamera8857 Poets of the Fall themselves came here from Control anyway. The proofs are the red phone in the official video, and the black pyramid in this one.
"It's a spiral."
For all of those brought here by control: the song "take control" that plays in a very awesome party of the game's story (which I won't dare spoil here) is also by this band, though under the name "Old Gods of Asgard".
Old Gods is basically Poets of the fall but in the game's universe.
OGoA are actually big part the lore they were the second group of people to fight the eldritch darkness in brightfalls
Not quite. The name 'Poets of the fall' appears in the game too. There's a paper in the room where this song plays and the actual name is used along with the name of the song and a bunch of questions the test subject has to answer after hearing it.

@@Desidarky absolutely 😍
one of lifes great mysteries
at this point, I'm convinced PotF themselves are an object of power
Personal theory : The song is an object of power. Its ability is to make you think of the game Control, wich has a gun as main item.
It's ability is also to send the viewer chills down their spine.
The gun is the main character, then comes Ahti, and then Jessie
Being a big fan of Alan Wake (playing it not long after it had came out back in 2010) and now playing this game, with what I'm learning of this game and the fact that it has connections to Alan Wake, makes me think that the typewriter is a object of power
In Alan Wake its explained that art in that area generally comes to life. And it would make sense the darkness brings it about (they basically imply it with explanations in the story or hints) but what if all the items the various artists use (Typewriter, a stereo system for OGOA, the paintbrush for Hartman's painter, etc) are all objects of power
Would make things make a lot more sense.
@gtd fern well it wasn't a list of the best characters, just the most important ones. Darling definitely is on the top 3 best characters in there, shame we don't actually meet him
@gtd fern I'll never have enough Ahti tbh
Nice. This song reminds me Old gods of Asgard, the great band from my hometown
I'm here from the accoustic lab lol.
Love this !!
This is legit Alan Wake 2 theme 4 years too early
It's very obvious that Remedy (and Sam Lake specifically) had an overarching idea for the Remedy-verse (Alan Wake/Control/Alan Wake 2) as you can find references to things in all 3 games that refer to the others, even before those games came out, and make more sense upon playing all 3. Maybe it wasn't fully fleshed out until Alan Wake 2, but it's definitely deliberate how they all call back to the other entries.
Got Control for free in the Epic store... I love it so much, I feel like I'm a teenager again ❤️ and when I found this song in the lab 1 I stood listening to it while reading the lyrics in the blackboard, it was magical

Control and Alan Wake have made me love this band since 2011.
Listen to their 2nd and 3rd album.
I love how the visuals are reminiscent of stuff from Control. (I spotted Hedron, the black pyramid of the Board, and the Foundations)
Guess what, this song is canon in the game, not only as a music in a lab, but was also used as a Test for Altered Items/Objects of Power. There is even a place with the lyrics written on the whiteboard and album art of "Ultraviolet" lying on a table

welcome brother ;3
A close friend and I do a sort of shared storytelling, with us both controlling the world and characters, creating stories that dive into the common to the uncomfortable, tackling difficult topics or tossing sense and normalcy out the window for the sake of fun, often at the expense of some character or group of characters. This song very much suits to what we do every day to some extent, and have done for nearly four years now.
It's sort of in a roundabout way, but it makes it so much more interesting to us to listen to this and be reminded of those characters and stories we both hold so dearly.
This is by far the coolest lyric video I've ever seen. The work they did with each background and transition is severely underrated.
so true, it's amazing
All hail Captain.
I love this song! First heard it in the new game Control by developer Remedy. It was in a random lab room that had nothing to do with the game really i just explored and found it in the research sector. Good lads remedy for letting me experience this song!!
This song speaks to me on a level that words cannot express 🌌
This song is an infohazard. I can't stop listening to it.
Whenever I'm in Central Research I always try to make sure to pop into the lab and take a break and listen to this song. Thank you Remedy for introducing me to this great band.
