When these were racing, they were the only car you could hear - they drowned out EVERYTHING. 24 hours straight of straight piped Porsche goodness. unreal

I did the same track as Nick in the video purely because I doubted his conclusion about the cars. Both cars were S2 997 and rear wheel drive. 911 final drive was tuned for 211 mph (though I only ever reached 209) and the rest of the ratios were unchanged. Same with the Ford. Also had to do an engine swap on the Ford to achieve S2 997. Both cars were running default setups apart from downforce, which was maxed out on both cars.
Ford had 1074 bhp, 784 ft-lb of torque and weighed in at 2888 lb
Porsche had 985 bhp, 667 ft-lb of torque and weighed in at 2819 lb.
Fastest lap in the Ford GT was a 52.168.
Fastest lap in the 911 RSR was a 51.962.

I wish it had an exhaust upgrade that made it sound higher-pitched like the IRL RSR. They just recycled the sound files from the GT3 R in the car pack, and I'm sad.

The sound on the one in game is actually fairly accurate to the model. It's the early 2017 spec that the 991.2 RSR debuted with and it sounds a bit more drone-y. In mid 2017, it was modified so that the exhaust tips meet in the middle, and that's version with the high-pitched wail the RSR is known for.
Look up "How the sound of the 991.2 RSR has changed over the years" on YT for comparisons.
RSR Early 2017: Split rear exhaust, droney sound
RSR Mid 2017 - 2019: Centered rear exhaust, loud high pitch scream
RSR-19 2019 - 2020: Side exhausts, droney sound (still very loud)
RSR-19 2021: Centered rear exhaust, high pitch scream (more muffled than before)

I'm really excited for the new FH5 update. I would love to see they adding back the Quadra Turbo R and Chryslus Rocket 69, even though they aren't real cars. For new cars, I would love to see the european Fiat Uno Turbo I.e with the crazy digital dash, the new Countach, the Camaro Iroc-Z and the Hyundai N Vision 74 or whatever it is called. Can't wait to watch the livestream tomorrow. I feel that this update will be one of the best updates ever.

2:30 this is incorrect, this version of the 911 RSR was retired in 2020. The RSR - 19 debuted in the GTE Pro class in the 2019/20 WEC season then all the GTE Am teams also had it starting from the 2021 season.

I’m glad they added this specific version of the RSR. This is the 2017 phase 1 version that sounds a bit different than the beloved 2018-2019 version that’s engine literally screams with the center exhaust. There’s a cool video out there with the version in the game sounding exactly like it’s real life counterpart.
Yeah it is fairly accurate to the Early 2017 spec. However I do wish they used the Mid 2017 - 2019 spec with the centered rear exhaust and notorious scream.
@@generic9777 So true. In all honesty it’s what made the RSR so beloved. No one had ever heard a Porsche ever be as loud as the mid 2017-2019 RSR. Apart from the obvious fact the car looks breathtaking from any angle. But I’m at least glad we have a fairly accurate sounding RSR in relation to the early 2017 version. Not going to lie. The first thing I looked for was racing exhaust in the upgrades to see if I could make the car scream. Similar to the Porsche 911 speedster with race exhaust 🤣

For those wondering about the car sound, this car DID initially have that exact "low" exhaust tone early on in the 2017 WEC series before the 24 Hours of Le Mans later that year. In fact, this exact Porsche model you all see here is modelled after the early 2017 WEC-spec 911 RSR with the exhausts spread out on both sides, therefore the low pitch exhaust sound in this game is accurate. Starting at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2017, that's when Porsche updated the exhaust system with a center exhaust design, therefore giving the "high" pitched sound we all know and love, a.k.a. the late 2017 spec of the RSR.

Ultimately, the car sound is accurate due to the fact that the car itself is modeled in its early 2017 WEC spec. Therefore, if we’re talking realism, it doesn’t really make sense for this car in this game to have the high pitched sound, unless Playground Games goes the extra mile and models a separate 911 RSR but with the center exhaust design of this car, too. Fun fact, the early 2017 spec RSR is also featured in Gran Turismo 7.

Quick thing with AWD: Always for road racing tune it to be RWD Biased like at a 85 or 90%, that gives you the most control without spinning out like in a full RWD Car you can get.

The racecars feels great on this update. Best series. I wish the "race mods" give more of a race feel on normal cars. It would feel a lot better. Most of cars just feels like the cars can't handle the power and the option of customization is there just because. Which is fine but The model itself doesn't handle.

The ford gt is a GTE PRO and the Porsche 911 RSR is a GTE AM which compare to the GTE PRO is slower

This is the Early 2017 spec. It had a split rear exhaust and a droney sound and this is very accurate to that sound. You're thinking of the Mid 2017 - 2019 spec which had a centered rear exhaust, and was much louder and higher pitched.
