A tip for you. When using nuts roast them in the oven for a few minutes. Try a side by side comparison of toasted and not. Really brings out big flavors.
A trick for the parchment paper. Crumple it first. It will stay in the shape you want now. I’m looking forward to trying these recipes. Thank you for sharing.
Love the everything trail bars! I made them vegan by subbing an egg for a flax egg, used maple syrup instead of brown sugar , vegan butter and they were soooo good! Thanks for the recipe!
@@annaleedaughterofyhwh7767 1 table spoon of ground flax seed, 3tablespoons of water. Mix it up, set it in the fridge for 15minutes than add. 1 flax “egg” for every 1 regular egg
🫣 OMG! Thank you for the maple syrup tip. I checked and sure enough there was a mold film over the syrup I stored in the cabinet. Luckily it was only about 3 tbsp left so I tossed it. I actually thought I could salvage it 😵💫 but no. Thanks again. 🤩
I love the everything trail bars! I made a double batch wet ingredients and then half nuts/chocolate chips and half tropical mixed fruits, which went in the freezer so I can just crab a few before hiking. So easy, thank you Amanda!
I love the everything bars, I make those for hiking n cycling - and each time I make them they are different which is great, that way one doesn't get bored.
Thanknyou for sharing! I've been looking at recipes (inspired search from your camping videos) and now....tada....you did this amazing how to video. Thank you! Going to be making the bars and trail mix this week to try it out and tweak it to my family's tastes!
Amanda it would be cool to see what your gym workout looks like. I’m gonna try the trail mix cookie bars. I’ll probably make all three eventually. Thanks so much for your content. 💖
I hope you love the recipes! Thank you so much for watching. For my workouts, I've been doing Crossfit and I really enjoy it! We have an awesome gym here with great people and workout programing. Nick and I both love it!
@@amanda.outside I ended up making the trail mix over the weekend and subbed dried kiwi in lieu of the dried papaya because I couldn’t find it and omg... SO good!! I love this mix! Thanks again :)
Hi Amanda, I made your maple cheddar trail mix this weekend and it is so good! I couldn't find the cheddar sesame sticks so I subbed in regular sesame sticks (I think they're called sesame bran sticks) and those worked just fine. I also think it would be really good to crush up some of the Rold Gold cheese pretzels and add those! (but I'm a pretzel fan and like adding pretzels to everything) thanks for sharing!!
New subscriber here! Love all your tips, super practical and no extra frills. Definitely inspired by you! Question: How do you plan your hikes/ camping? Something we are having trouble with is covering all the trails at the sites we have been, do you complete them all in one trip or do you go back and complete it and go to another national park/ forest in between? Thanks!
i made the everything trail bar but i added a little vanilla protein powder and some dark chocolate chips & i was not disappointed! my cousin devoured half the batch 😂👏🏽
These recipes look so good I think I'm going to try them all then hide them from my family. Sometimes a mom just has to have a secret indulgence. lol. :) Thank you for posting these.
I can’t wait to try all three. I have an energy bar I’ve been making for years so I can’t wait to try something new. What would you say the shelf life is for these?
Love your channel! I'm excited to try these recipes (I'll have to alter them a bit...my little boy has a peanut and tree nut allergy). Thanks for sharing! - From Logan, Utah.
The trail mix and trail bars are really easy to swap in different ingredients as needed. I hope you enjoy the recipes and thank you so much for watching!
We are a nut free home too. My daughter has a peanut allergy and I am allergic to tree nuts. I like using a hemp and chia seed blend to replace nuts in recipes for trail food.
5:30 I like to use mild molasses instead, or a 50/50 brown sugar:molasses blend since mild molasses has a ton of nutrients it. 1 Tbsp has around 5-6% of your potassium, magnesium, and is high in other things like iron making it great to replenish electrolytes and because it a mixture of sugars besides just sucrose like table sugar, it gives you longer burning energy and it has a lower Glycemic Load compared to an equal calorie amount of sugar or brown sugar
Oh...I'm trying those bars first. YUM! If you were to add semi-sweet chocolate chips, would you reduce the amount of nuts and add chocolate chips to make up the "rounded cup?" (Asking for a friend...ahem.)
Keeping maple syrup in the fridge is an afront to humanity. My grandma does that, and I hate it. It's so much harder to get out of the container. Great recipes!
We will be hiking a 500 mile hike and shipping ourselves food resupply boxes. If we pre make any of these receipts should I be concerned with shelf life or special packaging?
I haven't tried freezing them so I don't know for certain. I think the trail bars could be frozen, but I'm not so sure about the energy balls. Let me know if you give it a try!
@@amanda.outside freezer worthy! Wrapped both everything bars and energy balls in freezer paper and placed inside a freezer bag. Tossed one in pack (I’m a hiker) and it thawed by the time I was ready for a snack. Taste like the day I made them. Of course it’s only been a few days but would think they would be best used within 1-2 months. After that the fresh taste might diminish. Everything bar is my favorite. Put in microwave for 10-15 seconds to thaw for breakfast. Great recipes!
The last time I went hiking, I lost 5 kg in 3 days and 2 nights. But this will make me gain 5 kg more weight, haha.Amanda, if you like it, please give me your heart.
How long do the Everything Trail Bars last? My concern is the egg spoiling. Do you freeze them and defrost while on the trail? A second question about the bars: I have a silicone mold to make individual bars. Would this recipe work in a pan like this?
I'm not sure how the silicone mold would work. I think you would need to adjust the bake time. My guess is that they would cook faster. For storage, I treat the bars like I would a cookie. I try to eat them within a few days of baking, but the bars can also be frozen.
I keep the energy balls in the fridge when I'm at home, but they should be fine at room temp as well and should last about 5-7 days. I keep the trail bars at room temp in an airtight container and they should also last about 5-7 days. Mine are usually gone within a few days though! 😊
Everything trail bars all the way! Who knew that you would start a cooking channel!?!? LOL Btw Amanda, overall your videos have excellent production value, but the dialogue on this one was a little rough. If you plan on doing more indoor content like this, a lavalier mic attached to your shirt or a shotgun mic boomed overhead would improve the sound quality significantly. As it is currently, even with the sound treatment you installed, you're just too far away from the microphone and it's picking up a lot of echo from the hard surfaces in your kitchen. Friendly tip, feel free to disregard if there's just no budget for that kind of thing. I still immensely enjoy your videos.
Yea I almost didn't upload it because of the audio. I usually would use a lavalier mic attached to my shirt but I decided to use a new on camera mic for this video thinking that it would be fine, in addition to blankets and pillows all over the floor, but it just wasn't enough unfortunately. It's super frustrating, but I've learned and will do a better job next time! Thank you for still watching 😁
