I actually do most of my critical listening with my audio-GD NFB11.28TXO which is more than capable of driving some of the most demanding headphones adequately. Sadly, no amount of EQ can fix the inherent soundstage and imaging problems associated with the hodge-podge design. On another note, the Fosi SK01 is actually extremely powerful for a device in its price bracket, putting out 2400mW @ 32 ohms, which is quite frankly insane for a device of its size, and is also capable of driving most headphones very well.
Nobody's perfect 😜 Seriously though, I would think it's for the same reason that I often prefer listening with the Altia Cal.1 over my Hifiman HE-500. The Cal.1 is obviously not objectively better, but it suits my subjective tastes/ preferences more often, which are strong enough to allow me to glaze over it's faults and connect more with the music. If you like something, don't let anyone influence you into thinking otherwise. After all, I'm just a random guy on the Internet.
Oh for sure. Switching to some large velour pads immediately cleans up a fair portion of the problems. I think further damping mods can help yield even better performance in combination with EQ. While I do love modding headphones, I think it's also important to review things as they are without embellishment.
Thank you for your excellent review! Keep contributing to lower the price of these headphones on the second-hand market! 😁
I still want one for the madness it is!
I wonder how the K145 and more importantly for the K4
With EQ it sounds great. However they need hard driving preferably from an amplifier output. Doubt FOSI is up to it.

Thanks, sent a link to a pal locally who was just commenting on these regarding modification potentials.
I think there's a lot of potential in these for anyone willing to put in the work, but I don't think they can reach their full potential without EQ.
Hello there 🤗 Maybe sometime JVC HA SZ2000/1000 or Pioneer SE MJ751??
Unfortunately I don't have the Pioneer, but I can definitely do an SZ2000 Livebeat & SZ2000 Z Series episode!
@@GREQReviews If i get Pioneer, I trying to mail it to You.
If they are so bad why do I prefer them to my AKG 701's or Sennheiser 650's
Nobody's perfect 😜

maybe you can achieved a better overall sound with deeper and largest pads

@@GREQReviews i think you will be happier with the akg 145 tbh "for my taste i prefere these"
@@trashsyboi6180 nah, I can't do the on-ears.
Electret material ages badly. It loses charge over time and with it goes sensitivity. Back in the day they had a lot of highs and much better balance.
Maybe one could diaphragm them and convert to electrostatic.. or add a resistor in series to tame the bass to match the lower sensitivity
It cannot be compared to the Superlux HD-681 and MUCH cheaper, sry mate...
?
