  • This video is about 12 Most Expensive Rare Old Postage Stamps Of India Worth Collecting. I have briefly discussed the distinctive features along with the history of each stamp. In India, prepayment postage began in July 1852 in the Scinde (Sindh) District. These stamps were embossed individually on paper or a wax wafer. Their shape was circular and had "SCINDE DISTRICT DAWK" around the rim with a central emblem of the British East India Company's merchant's mark. These stamps remained in use until October 1854. The first stamps for postal use throughout India were issued in October 1854. They had no perforations or gum and depicted a young profile of Queen Victoria. The 4 Anna's value was one of the world's first bi-color stamps. In my video, the values mentioned are only for the particular image shown with the text.
