- Best way to fix this thing is go to CIF and exchange it for a Gen II.

Musics totally copyright, I know that. Don’t sue me please. Thanks.
whoever came up with the idea of putting a "low profile" plate carrier inside a plate carrier should be sent to mental ward ASAP
That’s MARCORSYSCOM for you 🫤
@@localskinwalker they’re pretty brain dead when it comes to coming up with ways to make a Marine more effective in the field.
typical engineering when the taxpayers money are on the table. Btw the marines used the MTV, this can't be worse.
@@gastone2168 fuck the MTV I used that at my first unit when I was in Okinawa
Even worse is that the MTV was based on a vest called Spartan II made by TAG, which in my opinion was a perfectly fine alternative/replacement for the IBA at the time. But of cos they had to “improve” it before official adoption.
Glad to see Marines still modding gear! Different Years, different Gear, same problems.
You guys don't know how good you have it, here in Canada we are still issued a frag vest and tactical vest that are of a late 90's/early 2000's design philosophy and we make it work
And you wonder why retention is asshole.
The pay sucks, the postings sucks, the gear sucks and there’s about a 1/3rd chance you’ll be forced to suck a senior officers dick if you’re a woman in the force.
Lots of suck and no deployments
Y’all got weed
Y'all got a viable military. 😭
I HIGHLY recommend the First-Spear shoulder pads. They’re a little more expensive but they’re SO much more comfortable all around.
Great tutorial! Hadn't thought to reroute the shoulder straps like that. Thanks!
I did the same thing but went to the Px and got the green sleeing pad and cut it to the shape of the soft armor to provide some comfort
Good ol CBD
I'm showing this to anyone who thinks the VPA Gen III carrier is "basically a Strandhogg"
Goddamn this thing sucks. Thanks for making this video.
An aftermarket mod that I love, which turns any carrier into basically a Crye AVS, is the Eagle Ergo Harness. I use it on my Gen 2 USMC carrier along with an AXL Equinox and it's a godsend.
you can tuck that front part of molle instead of using a velcro adapter
Can confirm
This does work, however the Velcro on the carrier is garbage and doesn’t last long. After awhile I had to get an adapter because my placard couldn’t stay attached
@@masonrachels2439 I do the same but have a chest rig backpack molled to my back with their own cummerbun straps, that keeps it retained well. I think thats what has saved my velcro quite a bit too, lot less wiggling around
@@masonrachels2439 best military grade equipment
What that Velcro thing called on the back flak
What a funny looking vest. I'm glad we have a way simpler and useful design in the FDF. Good tutorial🤟
Good stuff man!
I did pretty much the same with my issued carrier in 2017. To make it even slimmer I used 550 to keep all the material taught in. Had to use a cleaning rod to tighten it down.
Really cool how similar this is to the Army's MSV carrier. I'll be using some of these tips
Great video very informative and thanks for sharing!
Give him one! Keep ‘em coming.
Nice video. Amazing how over-complicated contractors design things.
The Marine Corps designed it (specs) and contractors build it to those specs.
I did almost the exact same thing to mine!
The little cut to the corners for easier adjustment of the straps is brilliant, I never did that.
The unfortunate bottom line is that until the separate front panel is replaced in whatever they choose for Gen IV, this thing will always be a step behind. Everyone should be rocking anything other than this.
As always, the more general purpose the 'solution', the more compromise is involved.

A bit more complicated than the 1941 pack system I started with in the summer of '65 at Parris Island. Later the Korean War flak jackets in Vietnam. OooRah old Corps Get some
Well done, Marine!
"Good idea, bad execution" comes to mind. Having the hard and soft armor is a good idea...but having essentially TWO plate carriers in one? Wut?...
We had the MTV when I was in. Thing was HUGE! lol
Those cummerbunds look fantastic...going to have to check those out...
“Good idea, bad execution” is the motto for the Democrat Party on almost everything lol

Perfect timing after the Senate race...
Great video bro thanks
I have experience using vest with Kydex or Krydex quick release systems. Trust me when I say go with one. I was doing the Skirmish Paintball Invasion of Normandy event with 4000 players. I came out the mock up boat, went prone and so many things went wrong. Both quick releases on my cummerbund came undone.
Honestly as a Marine that is pretty cool, I'll probably would do that
Do it unless your Units SOP does not allow you.
@@ejomatic and if your units SOP doesn't allow you to do it then do it anyway because you're a maverick and hard charger.
@@YungBeezer this is the way
Looks good! For trimming those corners and really any cutting of nylon webbing you can use a torch to heat up a butter knife and it will cut and seal at the same time. Just don’t use your barracks furniture as your cutting board!
Good shit man
Its crazy how lighter and more modular plate carrier systems cost roughly the same amount as this entire plate carrier system lol. This whole system costs roughly $240, a Crye JPC 2.0 costs literally the same amount.
Big draw for this PC was the quick release tubes and buckles, and the added concealable carrier.
@@underdevelopedchild42 conceable carrier is going to be useless for most in the army use, it wont be used 99.9% of the time that's the dumbest shit I have ever seen 😂
Noted👍
@@spookythecat3055 as silly as it may be, it's only going to be seen as an added bonus to an acquisition department looking at prospective plate carriers.
Ive seen brand new issued gen III listed for over $600
That plate carrier is miles better than we have in the Army
The shitty ass IOTVs 💀 literal dog shit. First unit, saw a bunch of newer gen IOTVs my size at CIF and they still had the nerve to issue me a gen 2.
The worst part is when I was in the Corps I ogled at the idea of the good army gear I would be issued, boy was I wrong.
The IOTVs suck for sure. How do the KDH SPCS (soldier plate carrier system) and the new MSV (modular scalable vest) compare? Have you tried any of them?
@@ThatGearCollector2002 I haven't seen them, funny how the 101 ABN has fallen into disarray after JP MGEE got ahold of the division
@@ThatGearCollector2002 They don't look nearly as good as something like a Crye JPC.
Perfect
Instant sub, thank you for the glorified knowledge.
I'm really glad that you put your American flag on slightly crooked
If you could move the male end of the first spear tube to the side of the front mag shingle you could tighten slim the front plate bag a little (see arbor arms combat wombat).
The song brought back memories of LCPL Beezer pre-gaming in his camp foster barracks room before getting progressively more shitfaced in American Village.
I did not expect Joji music being played lol
Never let em know your next move
I wish the army got cool plate carriers like the marines do
Wasnt expecting to hear “Yeah Right” by Joji as background music lol
Please post more
Nice Joji background music
can't wait to try this is COD MW2
What placard is that to fit 4 mags? Are there actual pouches in there?
good video i subcrobed
Still better than the MTV 😂
Beating shaw to the vid!! Nice just saw this
I’ve used a number a plater carriers in the marines, and have worn a number of carriers outside the marines.
Overcomplicated. Thats the issue with every fucking carrier the marine corps issues.
And you don’t realize this till you get out, and use extremely simple and durable plate carriers that are also half the price.
Most plate carriers outside the marines that cost above $200 are significantly better than everything ive ever been issued, which shouldn’t be the case.
It's like the convo went like this
Marines: looks good but can you add more cordura?
First Spear: we could but why?
Marines: more please
I was issued IBA, so I kinda laugh at the "bulk" issue. But yeah I have to agree. The Army has/had the same issue. The hilarious thing? That carrier is $1100 on eBay right now. I'm over here in civi world with a $100 dollar slick carrier, that's IR coated, with a ferro style cummerbund.
@@fathead8933 I own a woodland IBA that was given to me by an airforce dude lol.
The guy had one in perfect condition, and gave it to me for free. It's crazy how much they are worth.
Rn I'm rocking the MEPC. I love the thing, it's a little more expensive, but it's just right for what I need it for etc.
@@spaceisalie5451 I was talking about the new carrier but yeah the IBA isn't cheap either.
I've got a Warrior DCS covert with an Eagle SFLCS H harness. There's nothing like being balanced, and able to smoothly transition from mounted to dismounted by just putting on or taking off the harness. 2 buckles to clip and I'm ready to step off
very first line had me dying. "how to somewhat unfuck.." kill
Got me there too, I was like thats not what the title originally said
Gen 2 is so much better. I just switched out the cummerbund with the quick detach assembly, and real mag pouches.
yeah right yeah right
Oir 🤘🏻
Haha drinking a nos so am I right now nice choice man
Still better than IBA's
This is why I started making my own gear, its very difficult to unfuck what came fucked up from birth.
Thanks for the vid and thank you mighty youtube algorithm for showing it to me
Be glad you ain’t running around with the interceptors
For me tucking in those shoulder straps made little knots that hurt my collar bone like shit with a ruck or assault pack on
Can we get a vid on how to make the high cut ECH better? Or like tips and tricks of the trade
Ill definitely keep this in mind. In the meantime, check out @buckskin_gunfighter on instagram. He’s got some guides on improving the Full cut and High cut ECH. 🤙🏽
@@localskinwalker Good looks on that insta recommendation. And dope vid, you beat Shaw to the punch :D

what will happen if i have only hard armor wothout soft?
AXL Shoulder Pads are LEGIT and take a lot of the weight off your traps.
Are the 556 pmags easy to pull out from the quad insert?
The fact you roll your sleeves in instead of out, infuriates me to no end
Pog
I miss my Gen 2, I'm in the army now and the RFI issue PC with the fastex buckles under the cumberbund is just NOT IT. How could the army pick the absolute WORST solution, the chicken vest is not that bad tbh, nice when you're doing vehicle stuff (I have a Brad)
where did you get the mag pouch from?
A low-profile carrier, for all those covert missions your average marine goes on...
Lmao put the two halves together, throw some Amazon mag pouches on it and use it for airsoft/paintball when you're stateside.
What kind of molle buckles are those ?
I feel ancient. None of the gear they have now was around even a mere two years ago.
dude just wear the inner w the elastic cumberbunds. If your gunner says some bs about quickly being able to mount side sappis tell him to take a look at the inside of the cumberbund.
I was rocking an I guess you can call it a gen 1 Eagle plate carrier in Afghanistan back in 2010/11. Supply was only issuing them to our vehicle crewmen and us scouts got the horrible MTV but I still managed to snag one for myself. That thing didn't even have a cummerbund, just a 2" strap with clips on each side that sucked but I took the cummerbund from my MTV and retrofitted it onto the carrier. How times have changed.
That’s what we did in 3/8. Our first time using the plate carrier was in Afghanistan. Thank god we didn’t use the MTV. The “Gen 1 “ with the mtv cummerbund worked very well.
@@Lifechanging99999 the rest of the scouts in the platoon had mtvs and they were all mad at me cause I had the carrier. I said it was their own fault they didn't go get one for themselves since supply was just handing them out and didn't ask if I was a scout or crewman. My gunny chewed my ass for having one and said he better not catch me wearing it. Lucky for me we were never around hq plt outside the FOB and once inside we dropped our gear and kept them locked in the vehicles.
@@thatonedoood were you with the LAR unit that was south of Gereshk? It’s odd for me to hear the term scout from a Marine. I usually think Army lol, since I’m not familiar with how LAR operated.

Where did u get that 4 mag chest rig in the front
Are you able to let's say
>run a chest right with just front plate
>hook up a front H harness with backplate
The spall vest is great for crew members, not so much for everyone else. Who makes you x4 mag pouch?

Where did you get the mag pouch?
Is it really that bad compared to the gen2? I only had to make a few mods on those to make them more comfortable
Where’d you get the placard?
Does make it look cleaner
High gigle factor

Thanks for Ukraine
what kind of units get those plate carriers or do regular infantry marines get issued those?
Standard issue
How much for the woodland frog top bro? I want.
You can actually tuck that front flap in instead of putting on a Molled Velcro panel
I like at least6 to 8 mags on pouch on me.
What kinda msg pouch is that?
is there a narrower shoulder pad? the hsgi hits my neck when i raise my arms
There’s a quite a few different options out there. I hear lots of good things from Qore Performance Ice Vents. www.qoreperformance.com/collections/shoulder-pads/products/icevents-aero

A hot take I know, but I'd rather take a gen 2 carrier with an aftermarket cummerbund, probably has more to do with familiarity

I still have the Gen 2 plate carrier. I had no idea that the Gen 3 had that weird inner "low-profile" carrier, wtf is the point of that
Pretty sure it was meant for vehicle operators to wear in conjunction with the harness and front panel.
Yo! Who sells the 4 mag pouch?
Shaw Concepts
I'm army and the question I have is wouldn't some units have an SOP preventing this?
Generally, yes. Unit SOPs dictate some dos and don’t as far as kit setups can go. Then again, sometimes its better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.
The low profile plate carrier😂😂😂😂
I didn’t know you were allowed to just slap on aftermarket parts on your issued equipment.
Mag pouch link?
shaw-concepts.com/collections/all-products/products/arc-placard-v3
This setup only allows you to carry 4 mags + 1 in the rifle?? I'm not a combat expert but isn't that capacity a bit low??
Yes, that would be substandard but the focus of this isn’t the loadout, it’s carrier improvement. I’ll humor you though, I use this general purpose setup in conjunction with a gunbelt. 4 in the placard, 2 on the belt, 1 in the gun.
What brand watch is that?
