What I love the most about this video is that it doesn't seem totally scripted. You can see him struggle in some parts to properly voice his thoughts.

Aishwarya Rai is my favourite actress and she played a character in 2006 in a movie called Provoked. It's about a Punjabi woman who was abused by her husband. Sexually, physically and psychologically. Eventually, she went into his room and set him on fire. He was fatally injured from the experience and died sometime later in the hospital. Her name was Kiranjit Ahluwalia and she faced a decade of serious abuse from her husband in London. His name was Deepak Ahluwalia. They indicted her for "murdering" him and were going to sentence her to a long time in prison, maybe even life without parole. But her helpers reduced the sentence to manslaughter and she only did three years in prison.
It's a good movie and it depicts Aishwarya Rai's TRUE performance skills. Kiranjeet didn't even have a bad time in the prison where she was sentenced to. She had friends there, mostly. Great film.

My parents used to fight verbally and physically. It was a relief when my father would take off for a time and I dreaded when he came back. It doesn't matter if the parents don't beat the kids because the mental abuse is there.

Thank you for your kind words. I am doing fine and continue to find my peace by helping others who are in turmoil without direction and means of change and exit from harm.
I have rescued my children from an abusive mother, where alcohol played a major role in her ill ways. With tremendous difficulty, going against the powerful tides of discrimination against men, I succeeded in having primary care and custody of my children. A feat, that is very uncommon for fathers, who are usually destroyed!

Now, if Patrick Stewart and his friends would be honest about AIDS and other STDS and if stars would actually come out of the closet, then programs would be more effective because the public would actually believe the supporters, as in this ad. What a beautiful man. I am a survivor of domestic violence. Most people don't get it and actually accuse the female of "you must've liked it or you wouldn't have stayed". They don't understand the threats that are made upon these women and don't understand the fear that is instilled upon them. My ex threatened to take away my little boy and actually did try. Before you divorce, if there is no custody agreement, so if he'd have taken him, it would've been ok according to law. We're ok now.

I don't think he's trying to say that only violence against women exists and others are impacted or affected, but he grew up with violence against his mom and that is what he can speak to intelligently. That is what he wants to solve because that's what destroyed his life. I guarantee if you asked him, he would say all domestic violence should be obliterated.

I witnessed many instances of wife beating as a child and adolescent. My parents were alcoholics and used to fight regularly. I personally had to wrestle kitchen knives, fireplace pokers, and on one occasion a gun away from my mother. My father just used his fists. My mother was beaten so long and severly that she developed trauma induced glaucoma in both eyes. I was an only child and never knew when my parents would come home drunk and begin fighting. Thank you Mr. Stewart, for your commitment.

People shouldn't assume provocation, but provocation does certainly occur, because my mother would do it on purpose. She would antagonize my father with him telling her for several minutes that she's going to provoke him to lose his temper and hit her. She would do it on purpose so she could tell everyone that he hit her and turn everyone against him. Of course it would be absurd if I were suggesting that he shouldn't have just left the house instead.

I know how he feels. My father was very short tempered and he bullied my mum a lot. When i was in my teens he needed to find an excuse to cause an argument with her, so he'd use me as the tool. Then one day i just couldn't take seeing him bully her any more so i ran away from home hoping that it would make him leave her alone, remove the cause of the argument, remove the argument. Sadly it didn't work and he found other ways. She died of cancer last year and i am mentally scarred forever.

No matter who you are violence and manipulation should not be forced upon another person. There are weak men and weak woman in this world. There are very strong men and very strong woman in this world. It is my hope that good should prevail because those who do nothing about it are just as bad as the ones who commit the violence. Ignorance is bless, but what is so blissful about staying idle in the face of violence and discrimination. To truly love humanity one has to truly love oneself.

The situation is blown out of proportion. A small percentage use serious violence on a regular basis. Also there are levels of violence. The same with women, 1/5 is a huge number too. Violence from women is more often emotional abuse than physical. Like my above post, emotional abuse can potentially provoke physical violence. Your teacher is just passing on information from the government and you'll find that the goverment often exaggerates the truth. Another factor is stress.

Basically they have no idea and since the incidents of abusive mothers are far less than abusive fathers, I don't know if they'll ever have an idea.
