  • Special thanks goes out to Jay at Integrated Engineering for sending me one of their cold air intakes. The install was very straight forward and the sound is brilliant.

    Chris great install video on this product. I just picked up a 17 gti and think this might be the intake that I go with. Hearing some of the sounds you get and the look of intake really puts it up on my list. Looks like installation and maintenance is pretty easy with this setup.

    I always did my intakes just for pure sound, on my 2003 Mustang Cobra the Supercharger would really scream and we all know, if it's louder it just feels faster :)
    Nice Video BTW.

    I was very happy to get a cold air intake after I got Stage One by APR, sound and performance are amazing. Of course my GTI is the manual 6 speed MK-V, so the newer stock, GTIs have gotten faster and have better air boxes than mine did; in fact I think that's why I noticed the difference with a cold air intake that got a lot more air to the engine! The old boxes sat right on top of the engine, so the air going to the engine was very warm, probably hot! When I got the CAT after the stage one, for me their was a perceptible increase, again, in power as well as sound because the new intake is well away from the engine and encased in a carbon fiber box; looks too cool,cold?!

    I just did mine on my 2017, great video helped a lot but the parts you skipped are the most crucial, and you didn’t mention that when you coolant hose is pulled out it squirts coolant out. We can’t skip steps like you skipped on the video hahahah. But thank you keep it up

    Hey Chris! Love your videos, wish you had more for the GTI, but I understand you got a new toy (m235i) to play with! Haha. Anyways, quick question. I wanted to know if you had any tips for the coolant step. The instructions say to just work quickly. Are there any tricks to keep the coolant from coming out? I figured leaving the car to cool down for at least an hour but that’s about all I can think to do. I guess it isn’t the end of the world if coolant leaks, as it’s as easy as adding more to the coolant reservoir (I think?). But didn’t know if you had any tricks. Thanks man and looking forward to more mk7 vids. Matt

    Thanks for the video Chris. I just finished installing this intake on my 2017 GTI s. Integrated' web site says 10 more horsepower from their Dino tests. That brings my 210 horsepower of my s up to the sports 220. Lol. The install was pretty straightforward and you are correct in that the PDF instructions are really good. I took the car out and freaked out a little with the vacuum whoosh sound at first. Thought I did something wrong.
    As far as the install it was a bit of a bitch accessing the 7 mm clamp on the turbo inlet. I recommend a very small ratchet with a 7 mm end. It also took awhile to get the pipe all lined up from the turbo to the heat shield. I also used regular hose clamps for the silicone radiator hose. No clue how to install the included German clamps without the proper tool.
    I am wondering about driving the car in the rain as the entire intake area in front of car is removed?
    Thanks again for the video. Keep em coming.
    By the way, I wanted a sport model but there is a major shortage in California now. I wanted the cloth seats and they knocked off 6 grand from sticker and threw in a free extended warranty. I have a 2015 golf TDI and am a bit disgruntled.

    Well done video. Is the filter dry or oiled? Considering this one or the S&B. Currently running a Neuspeed power module and a modded factory airbox (snow guard delete and drop in AFE filter). I've also turned off the torque management in 1st gear via obd eleven. Really just looking for some more turbo and induction sound from my dsg MK7. Thanks.

    • @jasonguerrera1221
      @jasonguerrera1221 Před 7 lety

      Catch cans do not prevent carbon build up. They keep your intercooler/intake free of oil, which can reduce the effective octane of your fuel. Definitely a worthwhile investment especially if you drop $1k on a IE/APR intercooler.

    • @IEtuned
      @IEtuned Před 6 lety

      If you push the silicone coupler on too far, it covers up the vacuum line input and causes this code, it's as simple as pulling the silicone back a bit. We recently made a change to the coupler however, that now includes a stop on the inside that prevents the silicone from being pushed on too far and this mistake can no longer be made.

      This mod will do nothing more then add extra sound. The stock airbox is capable of 400hp. I know many R's who are stage 2 with stock airbox. Save yourself some money and open up the second air intake bay. This way you will get plenty of fresh air in, even when idle.

    Not really a cold air intake. If you look at the long, Front VW air box where the air comes in. That air box is vented on the back pulling warm/hot air from the engine and delivering to your so called, cold air intake.
