- Lewis Hamilton’s departure from Mercedes seems to have prepared the ground for an extraordinary clash between him and Russell in 2024, as two former F1 champions have raised their concerns about the chemistry between both Brits in the upcoming season. With how they both raced in the past couple of years between themselves, the only thing that Mercedes needs to make sure of is building a championship-competitive car and letting the dice roll, as they cannot do anything to prevent the duel between Hamilton and Russell-one that could break a lot of relationships similar to what happened back in 2016 between Hamilton and Rosberg. With this in mind, what should we expect from Mercedes, and what do these two drivers have to gain by showing teeth to each other?

Sorry guys, Mercedes did not create Lewis Hamilton. They had Shumaker and did NOTHING. And it is BS that Mercedes expected Hamilton to be an Ambassador for life. Lewis asked for that role and they turned him down. So he was right to leave. They did not appreciate him. Now they have what they want. Let Russel run the show.

This will be the year to see if Mercedes got it right with George or not..... George has to step up and realistically he needs to finish in the top 3 for most of the races this season, otherwise it will be viewed as abject failure..... Good luck to George anyhow, I wish him and Lewis well, Lewis doesn't really need to bother so much, but of course he wants to go out on a high.... I think he and his team let this news out too early and should have waited until half way through 2024, this way he would have had the Mercedes team still onside for the first few months gunning for him to win... now I have to think that the team will be putting maximum effort into George's car, and Lewis will be put out in the cold in regards to improvements for the car.... almost relegating Lewis to a no 2 driver... time will tell no doubt. George is getting a bad rep right now too so he needs to put that to bed within the first couple of races by performing extremely well.... looks like a lot to ask from George if you ask me.... I hope he has the shoulders for it.... I really do.
Lewis is a very good guy. He gave Mercedes a year’s notice to enable them to adequately prepare. That shows decency, loyalty, leadership and respect and caring about the team. There are few drivers on the grid today who would have done that. Selfish Alonso or Russell, certainly wouldn’t have cared about the team’s interests as Lewis did
I believe Lewis Hamilton will beat George Russel in the new season by miles just to prove to Mercedes they were wrong
perhaps mercedes are setting up the cars to suit Russell and not Hamilton, therefore Hamilton's dissatisfaction? similar to mclaren and Ricciardo?
This was the right timing for LuLu to leverage His best deal with Ferrari. Simple.
If you wanna be a nr1 driver, you want to be 1at in the team to prove that. So, yes it will be heated on track.
We will see some action between these two. They both can't afford to lose. Especially being Lewis hamilton his last season. But is see hamilton beating Russel with a point or four difference between them as a better option...But all i can say is let's just wait and see.. could be good Mercedes season.

It is easier to win when you have a better car. But a better car in the hands of a lesser driver is still a recipe for losing. Sebastian Vettel and Mark Weber, Lewis Hamilton and Valteri Bottas. Max and Checko. Can Charles beat Lewis? I think so.
I am so curious to see this. I think Charles is just like Russel, all gas every so often but is still super inconsistent. Look at Hamilton at the end of the season with Russel. TBH I think they will try to get hammy's 8th and hopefully Hamilton will teach Charles some consistency. After all Leclerc is known as the fastest guy around 1 lap lol
The only idiot who spreads this news is Villeneuve. What would any team act like when your no. 1 driver would step down 2 days before the start of the season? Call out the bull. Take last year's last GP. Hamilton drove like a sloth on tranquilizers. Totally uninspired. Didn't attempt to help Russell secure Mercedes' 2nd spot in the championship in the slightest. The only time he looked like he had a bit of enthusiasm was in Austin before the FIA got him on cheating.

Ask Max, he knows Lewis's ability. Lewis met Max at every corner in 2021. If George wants to meet Lewis at every corner, then he can do that. I know who will come out on top unless Merc does what Masi did😂

Lewis Hamilton is one of the best F1 drivers all time!! But he’s also one of the most difficult drivers to put up with as a teammate.
He keeps getting so borderline offensive towards his own team that he can’t help himself forcing to play mindgames to a certain extent and he will attempt to sabotage the routine of his teammates and creates friction from the moment he feels threatened.
I can’t stand him being a dick when he forgets about his opponents names all of the sudden.
What sacrifices on Hamilton's part? He got paid millions upon millions the last few years and drove like a slouch. Totally without inspiration. Last year Russell tried to be very much a team player. He now knows that does not help him. He knows he must position himself, if only for the next year. The only way Lewis could leak worthwhile information to Ferrari is if someone at the factory put files on a USB-stick for him.

Hamilton will be the second driver in 2024. Offcourse, if you know you have driver who goes to Ferrari, I hope he have a very bad year, I do not like him anyway. Stupid guy, he better would say I go to Ferrari on the end of 2024.
