I don't remember much of this game, but this, to me, was the game that gave you boys a big boost of momentum heading in to the playoffs that season.
By the way, I don't think I've seen a more beautiful throw from Russ than what I saw at the 2:27 mark. That was a stellar pass. In fact, all of russ's throws were stellar and flawless.

Its actually a great playcall. It was 2nd down with 1 timeout remaining with only about 20 seconds left on the clock. If they run the ball and don't make it (reminder that lynch was 1 of 6 from the 1 yard line against goal line defense that year) then they are forced to call a time out and now the Patriots know for sure they are passing it on 3rd down because there wouldn't be enough time to risk running it again and run out of time. Only about 1% of passes from the 1 yard line were intercepted that year, so they were thinking worst case scenario would be an incomplete pass which stops the clock and now they can either run it or throw it on 3rd down and still have enough time to run a play on 4th down if need be as they have a timeout left.

Hawks fan here checking in about a week after Carroll was fired. Why was he fired? Consider this:
The Legion of Boom in this game were three players on rookie deals: Earl Thomas (1st round), Kam Chancellor (4th round), and Richard Sherman (5th round). The fourth, Brandon Browner, was a CFL retread on a "prove it" salary. It's one of, if not the, best starting four secondary groups to ever play in the league. And it was dirt cheap, which allowed the team to invest in free agents elsewhere.
Compare that to this last season, when Seattle was paying their safety group more than anyone else in football, paying three veteran starter contracts (Adams, Diggs, Love). All of them were poached from other franchises at high cost (especially Adams, who cost two number one picks), and paying them so much meant there wasn't as much left to go after other free agents.
Pete Carroll went from the "always compete" guy with a reputation for developing secondary talent on the cheap to a guy who had to pay top dollar to recruit it, and even after paying all that talent the defense still plays at a below-average level.
And that's why he's no longer the head coach. Love the guy because he brought us our first championship, but when a team finishes 31st or 32nd in terms of offensive time of possession three years in a row, as Seattle has done from 2021 to 2023, it's time for a change.
