Scenic Views and Flat Roads: Big Flat 8 Route Ride

Route Description: The Big Flat 8 was originally created as a Rebel Route in November 2021. It was designed to provide a long, flat route on Watopia without riding over the same tarmac repeatedly. At 3.5 meters of climb per kilometer of distance, it’s one of Watopia’s flattest routes, apart from Tempus Fugit and Tick Tock. Plus, it offers scenic views! The route was officially added to Zwift in January 2024 to host the final stage of Tour de Zwift 2024.
Route Profile: The Big Flat 8 is essentially a mashup between Watopia’s Tick Tock and Volcano Flat routes. You’ll start at the Fuego Flats stone arch/banner, ride through the desert, descend through the redwoods to Ocean Boulevard, and then make your way to downtown Watopia and the “Volcano Flat” portion of the ride. The key point to push hard for a good time is when you climb past the waterfall before descending to the Fishing Village and back into the Ocean Boulevard tunnel. Turn right after climbing out of the tunnel and take the slight uphill back to the Fuego Flats start/finish. And there you have it-the Big Flat 8!
