CULTIVATING THE DOULA CARE TEAM: Giving heart and meaning to teamwork
We have entered into a new level of deeply understanding, not just how we got to where we are today with our death culture and our grief culture, but how the systems have cracks through which the light shines and guides us to better understand what is needed and how we can work with it to effect change from within.
It feels very potent, very promising, and very exciting that we are part of something much greater than ourselves. We invite those who have been doing this work on their own, in their own spaces and places, and it continues to reveal to us that we are working together, and that our community already exists; it is just a matter of showing up for when it is looking for us. We are finding ourselves and discovering the depth of connection that unites us in this work.
Compassionate accompaniment work focuses on self-awareness, self-reflection and self-responsibility, grounded in intention. We cultivate and promote a way of being, of being in the moment, of entering into presence and thus being able to create and sustain safe spaces.
Loss, grief, aging, and death are human events, not medical events; they are not problems but natural conditions of human experience.
As Life, Death and Transition Doulas, it is our charge to cultivate, provide and defend the human approach, considering all aspects of the being - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual - in the care of the grieving, the dying and their loved ones.
