Al Green , killin it. But give the BAND respect !! Black Culture. Black Excellence. 💯
Greatest singer. No matter when you read this...........
He was only 26th when he did this show could you imagine singers now having so much talent impossible
The year was 1972 my future wife and I went to his concert. Before the doors were open a fight broke out and we go push through the doors without giving up the ticket still have that $5 ticket to this day. Yes $5.
You blessed
I'm 48. My father Morris was paralyzed. We would watch this together. Momma Annie would be sleeping beside Daddy. I would be in the middle of them dancing. Remember my Daddy telling saying stop before you wake up your mother. Damn I miss my parents.
My mom loves Al green. I celebrated my birthday dancing for her. The memories. I just told my wife I can put this on a continuous loop never gets tired
Such a kool story was your dad paralyzed from the waist down ? Cause how else would he feel u moving to the groove? Hope u did actually win the lottery cause I’m sure it wasn’t easy caring for your family picking up the slack for ur pops.
This is how they used to do it, kids. No gimmicks. No auto-tune. Just playing live, on key, no muss, no fuss and just absolutely incredible.

Meeeeee Memphis native 2020
I am!
I am
In my mom's voice "Am Green was something else child !!
In 1973, my mom, her sister, cousins, all women had tickets to see Al Green. One of them couldn't go so they asked me, a 14-year-old "hard male" to go. I refused! But they forced me to go lol. Not only did Al Green put on a show that still resonates in recollection, I saw women doing things I had never seen like taking their panties off and tossing them at him and flying through the air simply to catch a rose he tossed. Seeing this brings back that night in full circle.
To my fellow Millennials, this is MUSIC
Amen.
So is Anderson Paak and the Free Nationals. Good music didn't die!
@@dalyna24 soul Sonic!!!!
Music from the heart and soul...Not prefabricated synthetised mush like Bieber...
Millenials know...perhaps you wanna said Centennials...
Al Green is literally the most extraordinary ever.
A millennial grateful that I was introduced to this music as a child!
Same!
This really brings me back. A white girl, 15 years old, listening to Al Green, spending fun times with James Browns band, Maceo, Chsrles, parties at Smokey Robinsons house. It was all so new, and memorable. Thank you Jesus for the times and the memories and Al Green!
Al. Green is. YUMMYYY😘😘😘😘
Say what you wanna during this time Al Green was the sexiest man in the industry then ..sorry women he made you feel good ..but Al had nothing but the holy ghost on his mind ......no matter what you sing ..if Jesus is over you its over you..listening in 2020
The older I get the more I realize how fine these men were. I was born in the 90s so when I used to see their CDs my mom had, they looked old but in my 30s looking at these men I’m like DAMN! Eddie Kendricks, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, lord have mercy they were so good looking and so talented!
i'm over here flabbergasted like wow. not just the overall fineness but the glimmer in their eyes, their spirits, comfort in their bodies, their auras of unique and solid manliness. now i get it!!! 👑
Haha... Those women in the front row knew!!
WOW Isaid that too my Mother last week as a kid I had a crush on Al & Eddie I was in the 2nd grade when this came on for yrs I would sneek and watch The Midnight Special you saw all the GREATS I saw my Lady Minnie Riperton for the 1st time singing Loving You and I lived her ❤ Rest in Paradise
Watching in September 2023! Love this ❤️
man was fine
He is part of the reason why I wish I was a young adult then.. 🥰💋❤
No matter what Al sang, he took it to church!! No one else can or could do it like Al.
@dontam48 I so agree. He always appeared as if his body was taken over by some spiritual being. He was pure joy to watch back in the day. There has been noone before or since that can compare.
You're right.
The fellow on the bass guitar is William M.McBroom, my younger brother. It was his band from Louisville, Kentucky who was the road band for Al Green from the beginning with the first hit in 1972, Let's Stay Together. until Bro Al started preaching. My brother passed away in May of 1985.
Al Green's band was tight...with an amazing brass section. God bless your brother. He did something truly great in his life--something we all aspire to do but seldom accomplish. You have a lot to be proud of my brotha.
Thanks you my brother, I appreciate your words.
WOW
His Band AL Green was AMAZING..The Conga Guy with the hood..The drummer, the organist..The horns...
Dale M. Haskell Thank you so much!
God bless you.
45 YEARS WHO IS STILL LISTENING IN 2019! AL GREEN WAS THEE MAN BACK IN THE DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
AND MARVIN
Al Green makes today's music seem awful. There's no comparison.
Only R Kelly seems to have the talent that is comparable.
Tragic he has had such a negative experience. I'd like to think he is not so Controlling or Narcissistic.
I refrain from judging others based on MS News Media, Gossip, Accusations.
It is a waste of true talent.

Yes h e does. He is the toyal.emortal soul music
I saw Al Green in the UK early in 1973. Front row. It was easily one of the best Soul performances I've ever witessed - and I've seen Bobby Womack, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye and dozens more. (Plus, I got his autograph afterwards!)
Omg did you?!!..he was at his super prime at 1973..I'm sure he was dressed so well
@@MOLICIOUS69 Gladys Knight & The Pips too, in 1972. Another memorable show but the theatre was half empty as she hadn't had many hits in the UK at that time. :-( Smokey Robinson in 1980 - and he autographed my album. Bobby Womack was a couple of years later.
My husband and I had just finished working a convention in Vegas and I was exhausted. Flat screen televisions were relatively new and I surrounded myself in a bubble bath watching one on the wall in the bathroom. He convinced me to go downstairs to see Al Green at the House of Blues. It was one of the best shows ever. The horn section was phenomenal.
Damn, that's how it's done. The man could lay it down!!
In a class by himself!!!
His smile and voice!😍❤️❤️
Since "1971" Uncle Al has been Played in my "Crib" and my "Ride"😁😁😁😁😁
Al Green was on top of the world in '74. Saw him twice in LA then, big outdoor shows, Greek Theater, LA Amphitheater. Women were going crazy, as usual. And yes, I wore my platform shoes, too...
This has to be the best genre of the latest century
I M Watching Al Green 2023 !!!!!!😅
This man was so free in his being it was ridiculous, if he had wings he would literally fly away. Beautiful gift from the Creator. 🌷🐝❤
....well it's love he loves the audience and~ they love him! It's connection and attraction he smiles and the world smiles with him it's very awesome and contagious .....to sing about serious things like the King Christ Jesus just really bring him joy beyond compare ....we matured with him in that Way ......family relationships are important Im sure couples who danced to his music at house parties are still together haha that thought makes me smile
Something about music... without it
It would be like living without water
So engaging wit the crowd
Angles on your body

Definition of killing it!🔥🔥🤘🏾✊🏾💪🏾👌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👊🏾👊🏾👍🏾
Saw him 1973 in Denver and man was it hot 🥵 in there. Ladies, ladies , ladies and more ladies.
You can't describe the fall of quality music. This is the whole package, the singer, the band, the crowd. The fall is like falling from Mt. Everest it broke up as it hit every cliff all the way to the bottom. You watch this performance and you can't see that hog calling they call singing today. Go sit down your bad no really bad. This never goes out of style like the Energizer bunny just keeps going. I'm so glad I grew up on this. Not a sell out for that trash. I'm thankful for my memory. God bless you all. All love.
One of Memphis’ finest talents❣️
Last Man Standing, there are no more Soul Singers he is it, last man standing.
Just seeing this. Phenomenal!!!! The energy, the outfit and the swagger.
The band is just amazing
Enterprise Orchestra was on another level
My dad was a DJ at WABD in the early 1970’s at Ft. Campbell Kentucky when the Vietnam War was still raging. I was 3-5 years old but I literally remember hearing Al Green’s music and all my dad’s friends talking about Al Green back then. His music was so intense that it lives in my soul today at 53 years old and will until the day I die. Those memories will never leave me. They were great days in my life.
Wow I’ve haven’t heard those call letters in a long time WABD I was a weekend jock there in the early 80’s Rocky Valentine all while I was stationed at Fort Campbell loved that area Clarksville & Hopskinville those were the good old days.
I think my parents conceived me 2 Al Green music.its thought 2 explain. But I knew Al Green lyrics b4 I heard them
I really appreciate wonderful comments like yours I remember Al Green being played by Family all my Lufe ❤❤❤
Thank you. Fantastic!!
I'm a drummer, and what I notice is the beat is relentless, just relentless. I can't believe the intensity of this concert, and Al Green's singing and body movements. The sexuality is so intense it's hard to take.
Al Jackson was a famous drummer at Stax records. A hell of a story also.
@Dominique Jones ?
yeah!
Oh I love me some al greeen.
Purdue or Grimes
if you don't know this is called talent
"The greatest live Al Green show I have ever seen" - I second that
The organ gives me chills.... Damn that shit is good.
No lip singing, no computer just good old school jam. I rather watch this 1974 show and just relax Al Green is the man. Nothing fake. The Band is on point.
The BEST Band..SO Good..
Agree this is just amazing ! This is real music !
@@deirdremacdougall8415 In the words of the greatest to EVER sing soul music "Lawd a mercy " I Love AL GREEN !
I was born in 1964 and I’m so grateful that I grew up on good R&B music. Bands was the big thing back in the 70’s and all the entertainers had their own band that traveled with them. Earth Wind and Fire, The Commodores, Rufus and Chaka Kahn, LTD are just a few that we’re a band. We also had a lot of neighborhood bands and they would practice in the basement of houses. They did neighborhood gigs and weddings.
@@reneehicks4629 so true I turn this on for my mother and we jam. My mom is my birthday present & celebrating with her this day I'm 51 today & she is 89 we jamming with Al. Love my mom Al Green is one of her favorites. What better birthday can I have
August 2021! I'm still here loving this man and his music! I started listening when I was 11 years old! I've still got all my albums and 45rpms! I'm 62 today! God bless you Al Green! The Tapestry of my life! My best memories! ✌❤🎶 Always Al!
Happy 6 months late birthday I was born in 1962
Oh I can remember when I heard Al Green's music on the radio and I started buying his records he was one of the greatest singers doing night time and my children's time we all enjoyed listening to Al Green.
Me too. I started listening to Al Green when I was 12 and I’m now 67 years. The first song I heard by him is BACK UP TRAIN! That’s where it all began for me and I’ve been hooked ever since.... it’s 2022!!!!
So grateful. Can you imagine my youth when AL, Stevie, Marvin, The Staple Singers, and Aretha were at their peak...preceded by a radio full of Sam Cooke, Ben E King, Solomon, Ray Charles and of course James Brown? And thats not the full list by a long shot. ALL of them wrote music. ALL of them had amazing bands and back up. Some had horn sections.
Lord have mercy I get overwhelmingly happy and excited at just the thought ! I'm 49yrs old and I've been a fan of AL GREEN'S for 4 decades and I love the artistry of every one the greats you listed above . I feel blessed to have grown up in that era of great music ! Real musicians , true talent and pure skill .
They had real music back then love stories and romance. Our parents were lucky.
Issac Hayes, Barry White, Teddy Pendergrass, etc
I wish I could just switch on my radio and hear all those great sounds coming out of it again 😌
REAL TALK!!!
His style is special. Difficult to imitate. Thanks he's still around

They just don't have any singers like this man. I am 59 and remember listening to the lp's (albums) on my parent's stereo. Mr. Al Green jamming. Awesome band. Here I am listening at 3am California time. Nastalgia :-)
