@@badicope9192 Which root do you've installer? Because some smartphones, like Xiaomi, has the dm-verity, and you need to disable this. Install Magisk, that comes with that.

Advice: if you can't transfer the files directly to the phone while you're on the recovery, transfer to the SD before starting all the process.

Try this : Boot in to TWRP - Wipe - Swipe to Factory Reset
If not fixed, then let me know your device model
