It’s 2023 and I heard this the other night. Still a great song. Reminds me of dancing in my bedroom at 15.
Now Mario the keyboardist got me hypnotized. Got the song spinning in my head and all I see is Mario's head groovin'.
His guitar tone on the lead is one of the greatest guitar tones I have ever heard.
These today so called "stars", will never reach this level of creativity, and produce this kind of master piece,
no matter how many millions and billions of views they will have...

For the past 39 years I've always mentally pictured the singer of this song (which I didn't mind as a kid) being some clean cut guy with blow wave hair, sweatband on head and dancing around in lycra - that would've been in sync with the Flashdance movie. Instead I find out a "Beary looking" dude sang this? lol.

The late John Gilston is credited with the Simmons programming for this track (played by Carlos Vega on the album?) so Gordon did a good job on the playback. Good to see no cymbals, who needs them when you have an SDS V...
Most of the drummers would use cymbals with the Simmons electronic drum kits, but : real cymbals, not the silly stuff pretending to be cymbals that came with the drum kit ...

Looks like a clear (acrylic) Telecaster. Can't tell what pickup he's using, though... the signal is processed...
a custom tele but you could get a similar tone by using a strat with single coil in the out of phase position.

Dude wrote the song, played 4 instruments and sang the song in tune and with a pretty good voice! He's no milli vanilli! Most tv shows in that era forced musicians to lip sync!
