  • Hey you guys! WOW! Another beautiful song by Pink Floyd! Lyrically it is amazing! Their musicianship is unquestionable! Mia and I are in love with David's guitar style! This song got me emotional, but I forced myself not to cry! LOL! Time... why does time go so fast? As Mia listened to the song she got school memories while I felt goosebumps. Unfortunately, we have to pause for copyright reasons. But, this is a song worth not pausing and listening with your eyes closed! We are so happy that we listen to you all! Thank you so much for this request! As always stay safe and we'll see you in our next video! We love you guys!

The whole album is a legit trip. If you are ever up to it, light a candle, close your eyes and you will go somewhere in your mind you’ve never been. There is nothing like hearing this whole album for the first time. If you girls have an hour to kill do the whole album, it’s really just one song and Time is merely a chapter in the middle. • @larryfontenot9018
    @larryfontenot9018 Před 3 lety +12

The line "The time is gone, the song is over. Thought I'd something more to say." really was the end of the song. The part that comes after it was the end of another song. Time is the 4th track on Dark Side of the Moon. The second track is Breathe, and the fade-out of Time is called "Breathe, Reprise".
The album is very deep. Pink Floyd had lost a band member to mental illness, and that influenced a lot of their songs. The entire Dark Side album revolved around it.
If you really want chills, try playing The Great Gig in the Sky. It's the 5th track from Dark Side of the Moon, and doesn't have any lyrics. But it does have vocals, and talks to you without needing words. Trivia: Great Gig featured a singer named Clare Torry. She was called to the studio, given the sheet music, and got minimum direction on how to sound. The entire recording session was ad-libbed by her without her knowing what it was really about. Yet it fits with the rest of the album perfectly.

This is one of 3 songs I have stored away on a thumb drive for my daughter to listen to after my passing someday. The 3 songs represent what I like and what I want for her in the future w once I'm gone. They also tell a little of how I've felt about my life...such as the lines from "Time" ...."And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.".....that even though I don't have many, I have some regrets of letting time slip by me and not accomplishing everything that I could have.....extraordinary that you young girls realize how deep this song is......

This album stayed in the Billboard Top 100 albums for 745 weeks. That's 14 YEARS. That's 3 years longer than Mia has been alive. The start, with the guitar playing a single note, and the drums doing a refrain that becomes increasingly complex, is a compositional style called, 'call and response'. David is using his famous 'Black Strat' in this recording. It sold, for charity, at an auction last year, for $3. 975 million dollars, making it the most expensive musical instrument in history. Asked later what he thought of that he shrugged and replied with casual ease 'It's just a guitar.'

Most of the albums from this time era were Progressive type and were ment to be listen to in its entirety. Dark Side of the Moon is probably in my personal top five, But that album only touches the surface of what is out there. There to much to list but please explore and enjoy it all. At the end of Time, death happens(the tolling of the iron bell), then it feeds into the Great Gig In The Sky, where you hear a woman vocalize the stages of death, like Denial, Defeat, Acceptance, and Peace. These two songs together are incredibly powerful, and the Great Gig would've made you cry.

I wish I could have really understood the meaning and paid more attention to the warning when I was young. I know even if I had it to do over I would fritter away my time when I was young and going to live forever.

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you

This song shows how small we are and how fleeting our lives our in time and space. Pink Floyd released, "Dark Side of the Moon", in 1975. It is one of their concept albums. It is best to listen from beginning to end to grasp its full meaning. You WANT to listen to it with HEADPHONES. Trust ME on this.
Fun Fact Time: Since its release, "Dark Side of the Moon", has been on the Billboard Top 100 Selling Albums for over 25 years. There is a lot more where this one came from...the past.
I envy you for what awaits you when you hear more music for the first time.
There is a huge library of amazing music from the 1960's, 1970s and 1980s.
I am sure this period in history will forever be known as some sort of magical golden age of music.
The amount of music across so many genres that was released in those decades is unmatched in history, and may be something that never happens again.
But all of it is preserved forever, so very fortunately, by the technology that was used to make it and store it and bring it forward to the present.
The internet has made things possible no one could have imagined even a decade or two ago.
Enjoy your journey of exploration of these treasures from our shared past.

As you ladies get older the lyrics to this song will be more relevant than you can possibly imagine. "And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking. Racing around to come up behind you again. The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older. Shorter of breath and one day closer to death."
My favorite Pink Floyd song and my favorite lyrics of any song ever written.

I listen to this album often. Sometimes I’ll take a break for a couple of months, discovering many other artists, but I always come back to it and it still feels as fresh as the first time I heard it. Sadly, my dad died a few weeks ago - we used to listen to it together. Great memories - he loved Pink Floyd and I thank him for the gift of introducing me. Keep enjoying discovering new (to you) music!

Being French speaking, (from Quebec), my second language course was English. As end of term assignment, we had to discuss in front of the class, an article from an English newspaper.
My friend and I chose the lyrics for the song TIME. Needless to say, the lyrics of this song sparked some heated discussion in the classroom. Especially the lyrics: (No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun).

What you young ladies need to understand is that Pink Floyd Albums are to be listened to, from the first song to that last song, in one sitting. Their albums are the benchmark for concept albums, were conceived to listen to, in their entirety, in one sitting, and should be respected as such. You will find the music even more powerful and the message more completely realized. Floyd albums that should be listened to in their entirety - Animals - Wish You Here - Dark Side of The Moon - The Wall ( yeah! that's a long one) - Meddle - A Momentary Lapse of Reason - Piper At The Gates Dawn (their first album and very different - wiki "Syd Barrett")

A good metaphor for life. My mother is in her 80s now and she says she has to note down appointments carefully in her calendar otherwise a day goes by and she doesn't notice. She has missed appointments because the week goes by so quickly, she might think it's Tuesday when it's actually Wednesday already. How many of us look back on life and wonder what we could have done differently or better, to avoid misunderstandings or to help people or fix things; where did the time go. But we don't see that as we live day to day, only after the fact when it's too late. Great song.

Dark side was the first vinyl I bought when it came out in the 70s, my father got me interested in good music from the day I was born. So much music so many gigs n festivals as I grew up! I have passed on that passion to my children and Darkside is still played regularly in our house and is as fresh today as it was when I first listened. I was lucky music as a child was played loud without earphones and the notes could go thru you! More young people need to listen to the masterful magic Floyd created!

Also David ZGilmour is my favorite guitarist. the mire u guys hear him see how he makes you feel emotionally . He is not the fastest or fanciest but he can bring you to tears of Joy, tears of agony ; delight and terrify you and that is what makes a musician great!
Speed and solos get the hype but Gilmour gets my mind and my heart!
Wow love your reaction and heed these words children !
This song is great but it takes on a whole different urgency when you are 54 and not 14 .
    “SHORTER OF BREATH
    ONE DAY CLISER TO DEATH”
is terrifying at my age hahaha
Just remember don’t “MISS THE STARTING GUN”
And with your own business here I’m confident and proud of how successful u 2 will be

Pink Floyds albums like "Dark Side of the Moon", "Wish You Were Here" and "The Wall" are concept albums, that each should be experienced from start to end in one listening.
Dark Side of the Moon are reflecting on the aspects of modern life (like the chrystal breaking the light into its different colors)
Wish You Were Here tells about the band missing their former lead singer Syd Barrett.
The Wall follows the character Pink (a fictional rock star) from birth and tells the story about how he slowly shuts himself from the outside world
If Pink Floyd really intrigues you, you should not deny yourself the experience of listening to these cerebral poets albums as a whole.
