I would honestly travel to America just to go to Ed's in hope of seeing this guy...Amazing work it gives me real goosebumps! Wishing success from Scotland!
I just saw him play this song live in Kansas City. It was an 8 hr drive from Texas, but worth every mile. I’m glad to see 350K views, because it shows that Mr. Parr is making an impact on people around the world.
If admittedly this is the only thing in your life you do with "any confidence", you're probably selling yourself short in many other areas of your life. In a world where music that is objectively good is very limited, this is a breath of fresh air. I love this song, Charlie. Don't stop doing what you do.
Charlie is in most eyes undiscovered. But hes done some national and international(Europe) tours and blown countless minds along the way. This is a small pub in the middle of Minnesota so not southern, and not hick (no offense meant) Its one of the hippest and coolest bars around, but it is small (we like to call it intimate). Charlie has a big fondness with Winona so he is kind enough to grace us with his presence quite often. And since this is where i live, this is where i taped him.
Two weeks and counting until this marvelous performer appears here in my hometown. I could listen to these Tidewater licks all day - a very special musician.
Yes I downloaded it via itunes - nice to have it on the iPOD. And it appears to be the Vodafone ad version. I've got this (clip) version on my myspace mp3 player....all good stuff hey? The power of the internet!
Well i may have to fly to another state, just to listen to mr charlie parr the great but im used to missing out on the best and havin to listen to all the rest but aint that the way it is.
Another Dutchie here wondering why he didn't find this sooner... better than not at all though. *grin* Beautiful guitarplay -beautiful guitar, for that matter, great voice, great atmoshpere... Just... great. Tapping the foot on the floor gave this live version that little unexplainable extra... or that's just how Charlie Parr is. *hits 'replay' for the umpteenth time*
If he ain't been to the Crossroads - he sure don't need to go. As a blues player he the real deal - echoes of the guys who put it all together - the stuff the Rolling Stones listened to half a century ago.
Yup :) Just bought it meself and the more I listen to it the more I like it. The first time I ever heard this song was in a commercial for "Vodafone" where this bloke wraps up his whole apartment, cd collection, wardrobe, wardrobe, girlfriend, books and puts them all in his pocket while this song is playing in the background then it forwards to a picture of the phone meaning you can carry your whole world in your "Vodafone" very clever I thought :)
Just wanna say on this blog a big thanks to springfed for having such quality videos of charlie parr whom obviously has been gracing ed's bar with his talent well before our exposure to him through a phone ad. I would really love to see him come to perth australia to share the blues lov'in.
Charlie is a good showman as well as a top rate musician. All the yahoos in the background should be listening to this man as he plays like they will never hear again. Too bad for them. He plays on.....professional.
Saw him Sat night supporting Paul Kelly in Geelong - had the audience in the palm of his hand! Was wearing the same outfit, too! ;) Such a good guy, talked to him out in the foyer, and my sister got her copy of his album signed. He gained lots of new fans!
I saw this wonderful man play pickathon sunday evening on the starlight stage. I didn't see many performances during the weekend but I watched every moment of this one
Yeah, the commercial started here in Holland a few weeks ago. I even ordered one of his cd's and got a very nice mail from charlie''s wife. And Charlie has myspace!
Its definitely charlie on the ad, its from his album, buy it and you'll know. the album was from a few years ago. plus the beard and voice (mind you its january in minnesota) makes him look older than he actually is. and jbt is great, but this is americana roots blues, a whole another thing. if your looking for more contemporary artists along these lines check out william elliot whitmore from iowa. another beautiful weathered voice.
I just checked out his gig line up and to my jaw droppin disbelief he's playin at the charles hotel blue's club here in perth OMG. Hell n highwater couldnt stop me. Cya there :D Ferk Yeah...
Watched all of the clips from that performance and i have to say hes shit hot. Youre privileged to have seen that live in that intimate bar lol the sound would have been unreal in such a small stage.
Want somthin similar to research check out the john butler trio, great down to earth blues from the great land of Ausralia Perth and good to see real instuments are still being played.
the version on vodafone is the studio version so its going to be better. You can purchase the song on itunes or just order the album, 1922, from Charlie himself from his website.
The name of the album is 1922. Currently have my local jb hifi tryin to order it in along with king earl another of his albums but hes not too optimistic he can get it. You can download it from his website and i tunes apparantley but id rather it on CD.
Cheap Wine give's me Goosebump's, this make's me wanna get up and stomp lol. glad ya found the vid, youll thrash it for at least the next month, i did. haha.
Greetings from 2019! The world is still here and Charlie Parr is still making art.
I would honestly travel to America just to go to Ed's in hope of seeing this guy...Amazing work it gives me real goosebumps!
Wishing success from Scotland!
He is currently on a European tour. Playing in Glasgow on the 10th of May.
I just saw him play this song live in Kansas City. It was an 8 hr drive from Texas, but worth every mile. I’m glad to see 350K views, because it shows that Mr. Parr is making an impact on people around the world.
Thanks Smith!

I saw Charlie Parr open for B.B. King at the State Theatre...so so good.
Two weeks and counting until this marvelous performer appears here in my hometown. I could listen to these Tidewater licks all day - a very special musician.
Heck yes. Not sure how I stumbled here, but ain’t that the way it is.

It's amazing that a song can sound so happy while having lyrics that are so depressing (if you're the guy in the song, anyway). That's a rare gift.
Love Charlie Parr and love Ed's
Can't beat this!
I just checked out his gig line up and to my jaw droppin disbelief he's playin at the charles hotel blue's club here in perth OMG. Hell n highwater couldnt stop me. Cya there :D Ferk Yeah...

lol dialogue right at the end
