  • MEMORIAPOLIS is a new city builder releasing into Early Access on August 29th, 2024, which shows great potential for being a game developed by a small indie dev team. Interesting gameplay mechanics combined with beautiful graphics, a relaxing soundtrack, and high replayability value offered already from the initial Early Access release hopefully will show a promising future for this little Indie game gem!

Thank you so much to 5PM Studio for providing me with a press key for the game - but as a disclaimer to my audience: My impressions of the game, and what I say in the videos, is completely irrelevant of receiving a key from the developer. I offer my honest opinions of the game in this series.
    Key features:
    * Real organic city growth, that you can influence.
    * Grow your city through 4 ages (From Antiquity to the Age of Enlightenment), with different game mechanics in each age.
    * Manage resources, needs and different satisfaction types to create an epic city!
    * Historical and non-historical events that you will have to deal with as the ages progress.
    * Build wonders like the Great Library of Alexandria, etc, to showcase your wealth and power throughout the ages!
    * 6 different cultures (at Early Access release time) that offers significant replayability.

Hi, nice video. Btw some tips : you can see ressources while you are searching a location for your city center at the beginning. Moreover at the start you can immediatly researching cabin surveyors and build one to build your farms far from the center. Woodcuters are very long to work, you can t place farms in dense forest but you can put in near and it will "eat" the forest little by little. Have fun.

I notice that in the options for logo/flag, among the circle-and-wedge options there is none with the wedge on the right, which would look like Pac-Man. That's some extreme litigation aversion. :)
Edit: I don't know if this game takes it into account, but I agree with the Riverside location. Historically, cities and specifically city states prospered better with access to water borne shipping routes.

The game does take that into account, as I know of at least one building in the Commercial culture that requires a waterside location to be built 😊 That said, when you get into Era 2 you get that additional ring, which means that the other recommended start location will have easy access to water when you combine that with wonders and watchtowers!

"Can I ask a question?" seems to be the usual brainless way to go about it! 😋😋😋😋

Great little organic game. Thank you for sharing. I just bought it.
As you commented a couple of times, the English expression (translation?) is a bit amateurish in places. Being a pedant I find this irritating. For example, you just unlocked Tilery (a place to make tiles) and Brickwork (not "Brickworks", which would be a place to make bricks)

I also love this game - and I hope you're enjoying it as much I have been doing 😁
And yeah.. With the devs being a team of all French, and also a small team, I've definitely noticed that some sentences have some "seepage" of being translated from French to English. I suspect they'll get a native English speaker who knows French to do a passover on the translations later on though 😊The Carvery building also has confused me a few times too. I would have made that a Stonemason - or maybe a Stone Carver - Carvery is a bit too obscure and can my brain wants to connect it to wood carving, thus beams and not Rubble .. another word there that I would definitely not choose, but rather I'd probably use Stone Bricks and Clay Bricks off the top of my head - probably even better words to pick from.

Its kinda laggy in the end of the early access. Needs optimization.

No such thing as “relaxing” if there’s a timer ticking down

    • @Caledorn
      @Caledorn  Před 5 dny

I'll agree to disagree, as I find the timer so relaxed that I even managed to complete all 5 wonders in the Ancient Age before progressing to the second age in the current playthrough that I am doing. But the endless mode is a great addition, which allows you to build megacities (I've seen a few screenshots in their official Discord server, and some of those cities are covering sigificant portions of the map!)
