    Definitely have an opinion against the grain in this comment section, but I like bars more than coins for several reasons: I don't pay nearly as much, gold is gold, and I love 5 gram and 10 gram bars because I'm not wealthy and because I like the idea that I don't have everything rolled into one piece of gold.

    All of the metal I plan to stack from the Royal Mint moving forward is GOLD. I'm tired of the milk spotting issues, so giving up on RM silver. That Britannia bar is wonderful👍👍

      Gold is gold until you come to sell 😁 In the UK the type of gold influences your taxes and the price you'll get from a dealer or on the 2nd hand market 👍🏼

    Most of my wife’s and my stacked gold is in Pamp and RMC 1-oz bars in assay cards, purchased from reputable dealers. We’re not collectors, so it’s all about weight, lowest premium and purity.

    I really love cast gold bars over minted bars, as they have that unique lustrous treasure-like quality. They can be bought at 1oz size for even lower premium than a 1oz bullion coin. But I prefer 1oz coins, and cast bars for anything above 1oz. Minted bars in a protective encasement look odd, generic, and unappealing. But that's just me :)

      Some people on the 2nd hand market might pay a little more than something more generic. The Una and the lion version seems quite hard to come by though so I imagine there was a little mark up to be made if you got those at release

    Hi Sovereign Saurus, iv been offered a 1989 , 3 coin sovereign set. 2,1, 1/2. Should be a good investment?

    • @SovereignSaurus
      @SovereignSaurus  Před rokem

      They are a popular set that command quite a premium. The appropriate price depends a lot on condition though. If your intention is to grade then you'd really want to get as perfect of a coin set as possible and likely pay more, if you just want to appreciate the design in your collection maybe a coin that appears in a lower grade and lower price point could work. There is a website called coin archive you can search for them and see some sold prices also try searching eBay sold prices to see what you think is a fair price, as I say condition will play a large part

    I just don't vibe with bars, having to keep them in the assay to retain any form of premium, the space they take up, how small bars below 20g are. I don't have a sigma or anything but can confidently check if a gold coin is legit, but much harder through a plastic assay for a bar

    • @SovereignSaurus
      @SovereignSaurus  Před rokem +1

      Good points. I was very underwhelmed by smaller bars but this 1 Oz I'm quite happy with. It does kinda niggle at me being a bit of an outlier in the stack aside from the Britannia design 🤔🙄

      Thanks for dropping by. That's interesting, I've always found the opposite in the UK. Second hand market especially.... Many people are worried about buying bars and steer clear opting for coins. If you're buying coins with a legal tender status in the UK they're usually Capital Gains Tax free too

    • @stevecroft3973
      @stevecroft3973 Před rokem

      @Sovereign Saurus I sold some coins in 2018 . I needed fast cash on the day and didn't have a bullion shop near me. Made the mistake of going to a jewellery shop / pawn shop.and they wanted to acid test them or drill a small whole . Again I may have gone to an uneducated shop or they didn't have the more modern equipment to test gold. But due to that expiernce I've opted for what I call ugly bars now instead of the bullion. I find the silver bullion from the royal mint are always milky and poor condition so again I've started buying bars now .
      My purchases are more of a future pot for my kids , as history has taught me it may only be small but gold keeps up with inflation where as my banks do not .
      Gold premiums are high at the moment also on coins. Again I've opted to buy gold over silver now when I can but I do like to keep a mixture.
      I thank you kind sir for the reply. Look forward for future content !
