- I decided to check out the Forest of Dean FINALLY after many years (I know!) of putting it off, well, I don't know why it took me soooo long! #MTB #FoD #forestofdean
In this video, I spent another amazing day with Richard, from Dicking About, Nick, Marco and Mark in the glorious Forest of Dean.
This was to be my very first MTB shredding session around the trails at the infamous Cannop Cycle Centre and OH boy was I in for a surprise!
We focused on three main trails; The Verderers, Countdown and Launchpad of which the last two had been recently upgraded to a very high level indeed!
Cannop cycle centre has trails to suit all really, from family days out to full on GNARRRR trails. They also have Pedalabike away onsite who have a bike shop, cafe and huge car car onsite which is only £3-£7 a day via the easy to park RingGo app. You can even extend your parking time whilst out on the trail if you just can't get enough! Went back to FOD today on the e-bike. Did Freeminers a few times then hit Countdown & Launchpad. It’s a great place to ride. Has something for everyone.
Absolutely, I’ll defo be back as I’m wanting to hit the more technical trails, especially once the new rig arrives 🤑🤘

I Turned 50 this year, and had my first experience of bike parks this weekend.
Did bike park Wales Saturday, forest of Dean Sunday, and it was amazeballs!
Bike park Wales i felt was too hard on my joints in places, definitely felt I'd accomplished something just getting down the runs (greens and blues) lol.
Forest of Dean tried to kill me when I followed my friend into an orange 2, yep that was too much for me on the 2nd part, stayed on, glad I got down in one piece, won't be attempting that run again.
Rocks, roots and drops like that are not for me, the mind and body says no, but glad I got to see it the once lmao.
Countdown into launchpad i wanted to bring back to Norwich with me, enjoyed that the most, rode it quite a few times to finish the day haha, lots of involuntary cheering on the way down and face ache from grinning so hard, it was epic. The sudden increase in speed when letting the brakes off really surprised me, it was thoroughly exhilarating and addictive, and like you said, easy to get over enthusiastic! Haha last few runs I jumped too far on a few occasions but somehow made turns and missed trees by sheer luck😅

Brilliant video. Just come back from there and you have captured it perfectly. Was there for two days and on the second day had the uplift so was able to do all those runs loads of time. Still have a smile on my face.

As a new MTBer, don’t be afraid of pushing yourself into the next level, walk trails you’re unsure of first, session features and trails to improve and better still, be part of a group who can help and guide you, you’ll be surprised how rapidly your skills will progress.

Nice fast flowy trails the Phill 🤟 ... Richards crash into the trees was reminiscent of Johno Jones going of the ramp at Matt's compound into the trees 😂

I have found your video very interesting I have been searching on the bike park website do you how much you payed for the day looks like a perfect all round bike park
This was a non uplift day so loads of climbing, we only had to pay £6 to park for the whole day via the PayByPhone app 👍. Cheers for watching 🤜🤛

It was great to show you around Phill ... there are 6 other main trails to show you as well as miles and miles of off piste so the lesson is .. don't do a Massive uplift day the day before!! 😂 😂 😂 Would love to host a group ride!

Yeah I somehow went otb on launchpad but I finished the trail and just recently did it again and did it faster which I'm proud of

Not as challenging as Dyfi trail . More suited to mature middle aged or older riders .
Well, as a middle aged/older rider myself, every trail offers different challenges tbh depending on how it’s ridden irrespective of age. Personally, this flow trail is so much fun when attacked at speed and is in a totally different class of trail compared with the Dyfi. Try hitting it at full whack +10% with a few boosts off any feature, it’s a great way to challenge yourself 👌
