- A chilling new claim about the five passengers who lost their lives on their way to see the wreck of the Titanic has emerged. The Titan sub was 90 minutes into the dive when something went wrong. The vehicle imploded, killing everyone on board. One of them was Paul-Henri Nargeolet. A lawsuit by his estate alleges they would have felt "terror and mental anguish" as death loomed. The lawsuit also says Titan began dropping weights in an apparent effort to return to the surface but it didn't work.

I feel so bad for the 19 year old who was on the Titan just to please his father. Supposedly his mom was the original person who had his ticket. 😢
Yeah same, he apparently had no interest in going down like he could not give a f*k about the Titanic, his mother got cold feet so he went, so sad,
@@juandigiorno5133If I had cold feet I couldn’t imagine my son going in my place 😳😭. That’s incredibly sad.
That's what his aunt says. His mom said he was excited and begged her to go
He was ecstatic to go, his mom's saying that out of her own guilt
HIS only job was to NOT press the “IMPLODE” button!!
Can't ppl just leave the titanic alone
After the James Cameron movie, I don't think so...

I agree! We don’t need more people or in this case tourists disrupting her peace!
They want to be one of them
Ethical or not, its a cool ship, I would take the chance to go visit the wreck, just not in this death chamber though.
That controller is the ultimate red flag. 🚩
yeah really. 500k for maybe what a 20 dollar used controller made for console gaming?
Nah, the controller is fine. It talks wirelessly to a computer inside the sub. They also had a backup controller. The red flag is the CARBON FIBER hull, which is a material that performs poorly under compression.
They use $20 video game remotes in the army for drones and the submarines it's a normal thing actually look it up
Suing a bankrupt company pays you nothing
I don’t think there is a company anymore the guy is dXXd😢
They sueing for more oxygen and less pressure
They signed off on this beforehand. They all knew the risk. Let them rest with their choices. Why is there a lawsuit?
Sooo. Do you know the "terms and conditions"??
Because they lied about the safety of the vessel.
Do you know what gross negligence is
It doesn't matter what they signed
@@caseycattechnically, when you Sign a contract saying that the owner will not be responsible for everything that includes death, I don't know wether a lawsuit can work

Yup
100% agree 🤷🏻♀️
No respect for the dead. Money money moneyyyy
womp womp cry about it
They heard it maybe yes, but they didn’t feel a thing.
Still truly terrifying
it happened quicker than the human brain can even perceive a change in motion, it literally goes from "well im physically fine" to your body getting shred into a thousand pieces within incomprehensible speed
I don't think people understand that the CEO was actively hiding how dangerous the sub was. He knew there could be problems and he wasn't running the proper tests and checks. Doesn't matter what they signed, he has a responsibility for reasonable safety smabd he didn't do it
They signed waivers and entered am experimental sub. Everything was legal and largely unregulated.
the only reason why he was able to get that sub down is because he ignored all the warning signs
Why didn’t he??? Isn’t he a CEO? Couldn’t he have just hired a bunch of people?
How was he hiding; he said its controlled with a cheap game controller.
The customers were super rich. They could have hired people to check the credibility of this company.
R.I.P. to the five people. Their condolences go to their families and friends. 😔 🙏🙏

Yes, it must have been horrible, but they all signed documents where they were warned three times that it could end up in death. It also cited the fact that the sub was not certified by any organization. I am sorry but I think that would negate any lawsuit. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Oh my….thats quite hateful of you
@iexist7408 not hateful, just true. And I think the courts will throw this lawsuit out based on the contracts they all signed. They knew how dangerous it was but chose to do it. When people go thrill seeking that is their right, but thrill seeking comes with possible consequences, including death. It is sad, I prayed for these individuals when this was happening. But I just don't think it is right to sue people when they knew ahead of time how dangerous it was.
@@babyboomermemories6150 Ok, well you just mocked the victims deaths when you said “play stupid games, win stupid prizes”. I just think that’s a little inhumane of you

From what I've heard, I believed that one individual were forced to go to the sub because their father actively made a waiver for them, so it kinda feels wrong to insult them for the fact that they went to the sub in the first place when they sacrificed themselves
Well when your submarine was built from materials and equipment from Dollar Tree and Home Depot, THAT SHOULD RAISE SOME RED FLAGS!!!

No, the controller was probably fine since it’s not sealed
the controller was actually found intact
My understanding is that the waiver they signed was airtight and they essentially signed their lives away. It explicitly said they might die and they had to agree to that to go. So I'm not sure how far this case will really go.
How they knew that the passengers heard cracking noise? The whole incident happens in seconds.
The sub was known to make crackling and breaking sounds before this. Then Rush believed he would have enough time to get out of the danger zone. That, obviously, didn't happen this time.
That they tried to release the weights suggests that they were trying to get back to safety quickly
@@rosesweetcharlotte yeah they were panicking
The pressure increase is gradual so they likely heard signs of the pressure vessel failing. It's the implosion that was instant.
They all signed paperwork litteraly saying they might die. But yes, waste the courts time.

@@CHRIS-cat2 That's intense and yet the still decided to go? 😐
So nice of OceanGate CEO. He turned himself into fish food to feed the fishes.
People will sue for anything to get that BREAD 🍞 💰
They Knew The Risks
When you sign something that involves risk its still their responsibility to uphold their safety standards
I'm not defending OceanGate actions, but didn't all the passengers literally sign an agreement to not sue in case of 'injury or death.'
yes . nothing for the family . i was going on that trip but when i saw the passenger and son were south asia, i cancelled . they like to fart alot
Such agreements can be rendered null and void by a judge.
don't they sign a contract before joining that so they can't sue?
Despite what they MIGHT have heard or felt emotionally, they CHOSE their actions. How can you sue for assumptions of Senses??
The titanic still claiming lives is wild.
Wow…hearing that they tried dropping weights to return does let you know they knew.Lord have mercy
using a Logitech controller or knockoff should have been the first warning sign
Yeah.. 😢
The US Navy uses Xbox controllers on their submarines. It's not really the controller that's the issue, it's the negligence of thinking their carbon fibre cylinder could hold up to the continued pressure at that depth, instead of using proven materials.
controller aint no prob lol. its just for controlling the sub and works fine.
I understand how devastating this is for family but their loved ones knew what they were doing when they signed on the line. No one in their right mind would willingly attempt this without fully understanding the possibility of catastrophe.
That's not for you to decide. Stop being so arrogant.
The guy was rich. His estate must be running out of money at this point that they decided to file a lawsuit .
Sooo they never learned that the deeper you go in the ocean the more tighter the water pressure is pushing you in all ways?.
yes . i once dived down to 30,000 feet and the pressure was starting to affect me
He knew the risks. Signed the dotted line of the paper stating death as a possibility. This lawsuit is going to go nowhere.
This was literally painless. Just imagine you just blink and you’re somewhere else
How would you know, did you try?
@@lamariposa5919 Zack D Films is very useful
Because the human brain is physically unable to process data that fast. Just because you don't like facts doesn't mean it isn't true.
You don't know the details, you don't know that
I cant believe no one has built a scale model to demonstrate and film the implosion
How can they file a lawsuit if they signed a waiver?
I don’t know if they can sue them because of the waivers they signed
I wouldnt go anywhere close to that thing even if they paid me millions
Billionaires filing lawsuits over "damages" LOL
The company should be ashamed for a failure design of a prototype sub Titan.
Highly unlikely they heard anything that would trigger panic. The pressure was so astronomically high that any kind of imperfection on the hull that would cause a crackling noise, would’ve started the implosion instantaneously. Leaving no room for the passengers to know something was wrong, or about to happen.
The sub is equipped with sensors that would alert Stockon to start resurfacing. But tell-tale signs of an incoming implosion is practically impossible to know beforehand.
Nah not true or they wouldn’t have even tried to drop weights like they did
No no no no no no no no no no no I hope to God this judge throws out the case. You shouldn't get to sue because you have a relative with too much money and too little brains.
💯
Yikes. How about you get some empathy? Otherwise, your god is going to throw up if you show up at the pearly gates.
How do you even investigate, let alone make those claims without dosage or anything?
The Frenchman's family contradicted their selves if he was so worried why he go down 46 plus times in the same sub
Originally a reply to another comment:
You can't disclaim negligence or anything illegal. A ferris wheel company can make you sign a waiver that you can't sue them if you die from opening the door to your carriage and falling out, but that means nothing if the carriage had been super glued to the wheel and it falls off and you die. In the first example, the ferris wheel people did their job and could not have prevented death by stupidity, or have predicted it based on the information they had at the time. In the second example, they knew it was unsafe to super glue a carnival ride together, they know it was likely to break, and that the impact from falling would be likely to kill someone but they continued and someone died. In the world where the waiver these people signed meant anything here, murderers would make their victims sign waivers before killing them because they couldn't then be sued by the victim's family and potentially couldn't be arrested because the victim "knew the risk."
Now there 1505 souls in the Atlantic Titanic wreck. How many more lives shall she claim before being lest to rust in peace?
I heard the controller uses triple A batteries, yeah, the skinny kind lol

Unfortunately we’ll never know these things.
Honestly as a fan of Titanic, I think it would be cool to go down and see the wreck even though it’s dangerous. Especially because the Titanic is now dissolving.
I feel the same way, I wish it was possible. I hope theyre working on an enriching documentary with all the 3D renderings of the wreck ive seen the past year.
Just make sure you have an active life insurance and make your families the beneficiaries so if something were to happen they wouldn't sue

Common sense…
I just toured the USS Blueback at OMSI. The guide told me those people didn’t feel a thing. He also said it should have NEVER happened. I had to ask his opinion on it even though it had nothing to do with the tour. He knew so much about that submarine!
Why is that guy Jay speaking with hug smile on his face while talking about something so horrific!
Because he knows something we don’t 🤨
Dude is the happiest man on earth with that grin “I escaped death” lookin ahh
DAYLMID almost went with them. That would have been tragic.
I know a lot of people make a big deal about the controller used to navigate the machine. But, with computer interfaces on most of our vehicles and machines these days, it doesn’t take fancy space ship looking cockpit to operate stuff anymore. Look at a modern cruise ship or container ship. They don’t have massive steering wheels for leverage anymore, and they don’t have telegraph machines. The steering wheel on a ship is small enough to be a desktop accessory you hook up to your computer. No need to over complicate something that doesn’t need to be made complicated. The sub failed because of a failure of the structural integrity plain and simple.
I only feel bad for the young son who died
Common sense should have dictated they didn't get inside of that sub in the first place given how small it was. And the fact it was operated with a game controller. They knew they were risking their lives but chose to do it anyway. I hope the lawsuit is tossed out.
Isn’t that why they sign a waiver?
Hopefully they can win the case even with signing the agreement and clauses
Im sry but it was stupid to keep goin to see the wreck of that ship, let that ship and them people rest in peace damn
how the person filing the lawsuit know about what the dead can or can not hear?

Why they need a lawsuit

The whole thing is just horrible to think about. 😢
I wouldn't go inside that thing.

Bros controller died 💀
The fact they paid $500,000 dollars each for this and the guy made it from parts that ended up costing him less than $350,000, when your average submarine cost billions, should have been a MAJOR red flag besides the controller. Now if he had spent close to $50 million dollars building it, I could see it as something as a possibility.
Why would you sue something that you know there is an insane risk to?
cant imagine the panic.. And all those guys in that small can
Stockton Rush was such a dreamer with wonder in his eyes that he thought a game controller would be good enough.
everybody can't be Jacques Cousteau
I feel bad for the terrified teenager that went because he wanted to make his dad happy on Father’s Day, but I honestly don’t feel bad for the rest of them. The owner boasted about making the sub from cheap off-the-shelf materials. They should have known what they were getting into.
Oh wow, I totally forgot about this story.
Crazy to think titanic death toll raised to 1,522 within a 115 year span.
RIP to the deceased and condolences to their families. 😢
Just curious:
- How do they know for certain those in the sub heard the cracking sound?
- Doesn't an implosion happen in seconds? If so, how would they feel &/or hear anything beforehand? Not trying to argue, just wondering.
- Didn't the passengers sign waivers that mentions the risks associated with this, including the high possibility of death?
- Who approved this design in the first place? From what other news sources have shared to date, there seems to be so many red flags and flaws.
We sort of know how this material would react. And keep in mind, their own safety warnings were dependent on the sound of crackling and things breaking. If the weights were released, then they likely had heard something that made them realize something was wrong.
So the thing about liability waivers is, they're more to discourage lawsuits than anything else. The company still has to make things reasonably safe. Instead, they were actively ignoring the problems with the design. Keep in mind, the CEO was being told by multiple experts that the material used in the sub wasn't safe. He was supposed to have the sub tested after every dive and he wasn't.
GH's death is especially horrible because Rush knew GH was well known for his Titanic dives. He was addicted to the Titanic and Rush was essentially using him to add credibility to his insane project. According to James Cameron, GH went on the dives with the Titan partially because he genuinely believed his expertise might be the only thing keep everyone alive
Isn’t something like this supposed to be an accepted risk? I’m not a lawyer I wouldn’t know but I feel like the lawsuit won’t stick.

why file a lawsuit now?

It's truly a tragedy. But I don't understand what's so fascinating about seeing a shipwreck either.
They died spending all their money on a sub.
*hoagie
They were going to hear cracking no matter what. Previous dives reports very loud cracking noises.
It was the loss of control that was terrifying (I mean, yes, the cracking too, but, loss of control is NOT supposed to be expected).
That bike helmet only was a formality… then the resounding “he also perished in the implosion”. 👀
How does the family know this as a certainty?
They really had that game controller and thought everything would be ok💀😭
All the lawsuit is suing for is conjecture… literally no way to know what happened 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Their controller disconnected 😂
Too much speculation to sustain a lawsuit. “They thought…” does not a lawsuit win.
I wonder if the lawsuit will be squashed, it could end up a crushing defeat or it may just implode naturally.
Just suing now? Huh.
It's only been a year
Just an FYI, that game controller fails so much. I’m pretty sure if anyone owned it and actually use it for gaming know that at some point it just stops working wire issue etc …?
Actually Logitech controllers and pc accessories worked really well for years when I used them so perhaps it was the subs programming etc that failed not the Actual controller that’s my 2 sense so more then likely something went wrong with the subs computing making the controller useless when it worked fine prolly
iirc they had 2 controllers in the case that 1 fails lmao.
I just woke up from a nap and first opened my eyes on “Explorer who died in Titan Sub Files Lawsuit” that’s why I immediately deleted my first stupid comment
Yes as prior stated in previous reports cracking sounds were heard in prior mission and nothing was done about it.
