And yeah, when Steven says in response to the kind of dumb "over $10 billion" question in this that he doesn't care about the numbers, that he just wants people to find his films entertaining and memorable, you can tell he's being genuine about that.

    Spielberg is the reason why I became a filmmaker. Grew up on Jurassic Park and the Indiana Jones trilogy, this man has been a huge influence on my life, and is my personal hero. I'd be the greatest honor to meet Mr. Spielberg someday. Even if it's only for 30 seconds, I'd be the biggest honor of my life.

      To this day that is my favorite film going experience. The sheer awe and wonder of first see the dinosaurs on screen is one of the most amazing moments in a cinema for me. That movie, among many others from him, is a masterpiece.

      That's funny because E.T. was the first movie I remember seeing. I have a very vague recollection of seeing Superman II but I don't remember the actual film itself, just being brought along and getting a magazine-type program (yes, we got a big program, or we bought one).

      The first movie I remember seeing in a cinema was JP2. I was very excited to see it because I watched JP1 literally every day as a kid. That two movies have a special place in my heart.

      I could name you 300 directors who don't do it for money simply off the top of my head.. It makes him an artist, but not the greatest artist. And, even that is debatable, he didn't hesitate to include tons of product placement in Minority Report.

    Spielberg's career is so overwhelmingly awesome that even focusing exclusively on his science fiction movies, you had to leave out discussion of "Close Encounters," "A.I." and "Minority Report." I love this director.

      Yeah. Spielberg can deliver on so many levels, and he can make movies in almost any genre. And when you put together movies like Jaws, Raiders of the lost Ark, Schindler's list, Saving private Ryan, Close encounters of the third kind and E.T. you get a pretty clear picture on how good a director he really is when he is on the top of his game, though it has been some time since then now.

    I've always loved how Dee Wallace reacted to "penis breath!" in E.T. She goes from being distraught at her kids arguing to surprised and she's laughing at the insult while trying to put on her "Mom" face and failing miserably. Magnificent little touches like that really make a character real.

      so true, that's what a great director does, brings out the tiny details. For me, the kids playing up in close encounters is still the landmark of realism in his movies.

    I am a massively Steven Spielberg fan ever so de I was a tinny tinny girl and fell in love with Indians Jones. I actually studied Paleontology in uni because of him. I was so bloody excited when he replied to my tweet once. He's a master I. Story telling, no one else like him 😁😁😁

    In 2000,My elder brother once brought some movies and a cd player . It was a time we just got electricity and in our whole village there were only a few tv. We didn’t had a tv. So we played these movies in our neighbours tv. There were 30-40 people of all ages gathered to watch movie. We watched Jurassic park for whole night. It was so magical experience for watching human scientists retrieving giant creature. We didn’t even know dinosaurs even exists once. Thank you steven spilberg...

    If you were born in the 80's like myself every movie that you grew up loving was made by this man. JP is my favorite movie of all time every time I watch it I feel like I am 12 again and seeing and feeling things I have never experienced. even after seeing it thousands of times. he has given so many people such wonderful vivid places to escape from our boring reality he is truly a master of Art!

    There's only one Steven Spielberg and there will never be another like him.
    Jurassic Park and Schindler's List are my favourite movies of all time.

    I saw E. T. when I was 5 in a grimy cinema in Amsterdam.. since then Mr Spielberg has been a hero of mine.

    Close Encounters Of The Third Kind.
    Emotional roller coaster ride. Masterpiece. My fav sc-fi. Raiders greatest action adventure picture of all time. Jaws scariest creature movie.

    Ready player one is an amazing movie and I loved both the book and the movie! I saw movie first then read the book and then re-watched the movie and re-read the book. It's my all time favorite movie-based-on-book!
