    I have a few corrections to the video. It is surprisingly difficult to unpack and speak in a foreign language, like on the first coin talking about federal coinage, not mentioning that this is the Akarnanian League/Confederacy specifically.
    3:30 Naumann iirc, not Savoca or Naville
    4:20 This is commonly identified as a griffin, not sphinx. The die can be a bit difficult to interpret. The reverse is called just a man-headed bull, not a different mythological creature I was thinking about.
    18:10 The name of the plant is obviously silphium..
    22:25 Not yet the civil war period, mispoke and was thinking the Imperatorial period, though arguably that didn't really kick off either before 49 BC.
    27:53 Sold, not minted.
    33:42 Monogram is the word I was thinking about.
    57:45 Typically described as just 'globe' with interpretations varying.
    58:20 Poinssot is the name.

      Would you consider doing time stamps for each coin incase people want to come back to a certain coin?

    • @RandomlyGeneratedUsername
      @RandomlyGeneratedUsername Před 10 měsíci +3

      Thanks for the kind comments. There was a request to time stamp the coins; I'm not sure if that meant time stamping the video to show the times on the bar. I can't do that, but I got a couple of minutes so I can do rough time stamps in a comment.

    Thank you for introducing me to CNG. They are about 30 miles west from where I live.!! I just spoke with them on the phone and I’m going to visit them in a couple of weeks to look at some beautiful coins.
    I’ve never handled any coins except what I’ve purchased. I’ve tried to find groups in the Philadelphia area (Pennsylvania, USA) that enjoy Ancient Greek and Roman coins. But to no avail.
    I even tried the Philadelphia Museum of Art. They never called me back.
    To finally find a place where I can handle authentic, beautifully-preserved coins is a godsend.
    Thanks again!!

      @@ClassicalNumismatics They were actually, strangely, not really rare ever. About 1 to 3 thousand of these existed before 1991, when in 1991 they found some couple of thousand more. It is thought that Cyrene minted them in the tens of thousands to fund their mercenaries to fight against Thibron, the Spartan commander who ended up sacking Cyrene twice, and funnily enough, did so with Cretans. Most of the didrachms ended up on Crete, with three major hoards found and about 3000 of this didrachm type found.
