I reckon the sleepy animations might have been intended for Goyle. If you recall, Harry pursued him while he was asleep. Perhaps it was intended be used in a cutscene involving him.
He has a bunch of unused scripts and dialog involving him waking up when harry got too loud. He might've patrolled the area for a bit but there are straffing animations too, leading me to believe they were made specifically for harry

IDK why would player have sleepy animations when they play as Goyle for a brief amount of time but huh
@@Laenthor could they have been used during a dueling sequence? There is a stun spell that maybe could have caused something like that at one point.

6:06 The Unreal Engine has a Walking command, which is only used in Prisoner of Azkaban. Trying to use the Walking function in Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets crashes the game however, probably because the devs never set what animation Harry should use when in Walk mode (not the one where you leave fly or ghost mode!).

maybe the sleepy animation were used in the beta if you dont move the player for a while
I honestly doubt that. I bet it was some sort of dueling spell that put your character to sleep. It's nothing more than a character status, so there should be an external cause (enemy, spell or object) that causes harry to be sleepy.
@@Laenthor Maybe they were for when Harry's health is low and/or he's having his adventures at night

@@Laenthor Yeah, obviously it was used in cutscenes, but I'm pretty sure bVeryAfraid was used at least once in gameplay… I'll check as soon as I have the opportunity.

Just tested Adv9Aragog.unr. If you stand still long enough after knocking out the first batch of Spiders, Harry plays that fidget animation. So…yeah.

Those sleepy animations look like the "Pumpkin-head" spell from the GameCube port of Prisoner of Azkaban. You know, the duels. You can't cast it, but the opponents can. It puts a pumpkin on your head and you move a lot slower.
Yeah it sort of does when I think about it.
Something I found out - if you use "set HPawn bObjectCanBePickedUp true" alongside ghost mode, you can pick up the Fat Lady's cutscene model, (which is stored in a room above the portrait room). During the cutscene, the camera actually focuses on the model in your hand - animations too! I thought it was a fixed camera angle, but no.
Ah that's a neat find! I messed with a couple of variables but not every single one.
Also, do you know how to get debug mode working in the third game? I can bind Ghost, Walk, and God to keys, but I can't access the full debug menus. The Cutting Room Floor shows it off, but the "bDebugMode=False" isn't in any of the .ini files. Adding it doesn't do anything
Yeah I don't know exactly either. I use QB's magic walls program to activate it. Actually isn't the ini file in the documents section where the saves are?

Any chance you can make a tutorial on how to play the unused animations and an unused player animations video for the Sorcerer's Stone?
Kinda read your question fast there, I'm trying to understand as much of the script as possible before making a video about it. It's not as simple for SS, since all I did here was change Harry's AnimationSet. I'll try, certainly, but don't expect it for a while.
I can't play the animations in-game in SS actually, since all of the animations are hardcoded into the harry script. Pretty bad design, but hey, they had 6 months to put this game together. No SS video for now.
That's ok at least you tried. But can you please tell me how you got the HP2 sleep animations to play? I know you typed "editactor class=Harry" Which should bump you out of the game which it did for me also. But after it bumped you out of the game what did you do to play the animations?
Andrew Baldwin I went like this: None->HarryAnimSet (put it to whatever you want)
Then make sure HarryAnimType is set to Combine and you're good.
If you want to edit the animations 1 by 1, you can edit a set (usually main), by going in None->HarryAnims->0. double click on a set and you can write any anim you want to remplace another anim (replace Idle with Walk for example)
Thanks. But at one point it says to open the actor editor in game. Does that mean the actor properties in unreal editor and than save it so the animations can play?

@@UltimateGoblin Я читал воспоминания разрабов о том, что они хотели сделать и что им в итоге пришлось сделать. Игра, в целом, на две головы выше ФК, но если бы не давление со стороны издателя, там было бы гораздо интереснее ;-)
@@AlexeyMS ох, ну вот они уже в ФК хотели сделать что-то мощное, но там им видимо в последний момент сказали всё переделывать и из-за этого игра получилась поломанной. А вот тайная комната просто офигенная, игра на века. Да, там даже по прототипке видно сколько всего убрали, но тем не менее игра и так классная.
А случаем не можешь ссылочку дать на эти воспоминания разрабов? Тоже интересно 👉👈
@@UltimateGoblin В прошлом году вышла книга, на французском языке. Об этом. Переводов на другие языки нет, я читал на френче. Обсуждали и порой обсуждаем это в моём сообществе (дискорд, сайт хп-геймс нет). Ссылку явно лучше не давать - автор канала по ушам надаёт :-) Но намёка в скобкам может быть достаточно)
Основная проблема у ФК была в сроках и неопытности кноувондеров. Там сложная история, на самом деле... В прототипе ТК уже нет и половины из того, что делалось.
