- Rat Rod What?
As the sun finally came out for the 2017 Shell Rotella Super Rigs Truck Show, a blue sky with puffy clouds made the perfect backdrop as Jeremy Gouge of IMT Transport, Inc., his son Brockway headed out on the big road for a conversation.
Jeremy saw this 1982 Kenworth A Model for the first time in Maryland. He purchased it a couple of years ago after waiting some time. But who did he purchase it from and why did he have to wait so long to buy it?
Listen as Jeremy handles this CAT driven truck, the sweet sounding exhaust and watch as she lets out some black smoke along the way. BUT that Jake Brake though!!!
No discredit to the A Model, but make sure to listen to who the cabover belongs to. Friends helping friends, that is what it's about.
Plenty have tried to copy this truck, even Jeremy tried to copy it, but there is something about certain trucks that can never be replicated.
From a truck that has an outlaw past, to when Jeremy took the wheel for the first time. What entrée does he miss that was made on the truck's manifold? Don't miss the information he provides, some thoughts on getting into trucking, driver hiring process and why he can't do it alone. - Written By Stephanie Haas, Diesel Addict Photos.

I’ve watched this video a million times & it never gets old. One day I’ll own a long nose A model. Beautiful piece of iron!
Jeremy Gouge is a cool Cat. Ive had 3 friends own that truck. Him and Justin Lang and Tommy Baldwin. And Jeremy bought my friend Pop Corn's 53 KW with a K. i love watching these young guys. Honor and respect my favorite and best truck ever built. A's with K's.
This is my favorite truck you’ve ever encountered, there’s something sinister and badass about it. I love it.
IMT Transport, fella driven with the next generation in the co-pilot seat, now that's a classy guy. Great hair stylist, love the glasses, lil rockabilly goin on. No wonder everybody wants to be apart of IMT, if he's got company merchandise I'm buy. Glad I seen this site,100%.
Lol, ive done that. Told my wife i was going to the yard to wash my truck. Called her 4 hours later from Bakersfield, on my way to Yuma...
Bad Ass Truck and a cool owner. One of my favorite videos on your channel. Need to see more IMT trucks on the channel.👍
This is freaking awesome I literally smiled wen i heard the jake break
I came!
Same.
Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Toooooooooooooooooooo
Eurotrucker125 I giggled like a school girl
it warms my heart to hear the jake brake
I agree. I miss the old diners too. Fantastic show and beautiful truck.
Thats a sick ass steering wheel like its flipped upside down!
Thats what ive notice also
I'm a proud to be a trucker from a trucking family. Working hard to one day own a truck built with some "OLD PARTS". Former Army and I wanna show my colors. Thank you sir for these videos. It keeps me interested. Happy Trails.
This style/model is my all time favorite. And everything looks better when black an crome!
Not many company owners like this guy left, someone who will still work right alongside you. Helps to have a nice looking A model to cruise around in it too!
This video has 2 pieces of my truck history in it. My Dad had a 75 International cabcover that I moved around when he was home to clean it and service it. Then he bought a 79 Kenworth that was my next love, this truck was the one that I took my CDL test in at 18. When I was 19 I was going from Vancouver British Columbia to Montreal Quebec alone, this gave Dad time off to play with his vintage cars. Great video! It brought back some good memories.
I'm so happy to be very good friends with that driver
Just pulled the trigger on a 75 A model. Watched this video 100x now. Hopefully someday it’ll be on here.
Hit the nail on the head, I grew up riding with my dad, and I got myself in a truck cab as soon as I could.
I love it, the very first truck I bought was an '81 W900A the frame had been stretched to 300" WB with double frame rails, it had a 82" double eagle sleeper, had a 15 speed tranny 3:55 rears I pulled a dry van at first and after 1 year switched to pulling a skateboard, had A Cummins with twin turbo, I later ditched the cummins and dropped in a CAT
Hands down the coolest guy I’ve ever worked for.
Favorite rolling interview so far killer looking KW dude is humble and down to earth, I'm sure I've seen interior pictures of this truck before to get some ideas for our old c model and been trying to see more of it glad I found this video
The most beautiful Truck I have ever seen. Smooth lines and just the right decibels.
Only a true trucker would name his son after a truck brand
I had to rewind the video to make sure I heard it correct. Brockway is a great name. I actually met an old timer who worked at the Brockway factory in Cortland, NY about 3-4 years ago. He helped start the Brockway museum in town there. He had a bunch of restored Brockways, I hung around and toured his property and was able to enjoy some trucking history that day.
@@hennigan04 my father had 2 in the 80s with Detroit's love them....
This sled is gorgeous ,never saw an A model look that beautiful. I love it!!!
Great interview Chris. Love both trucks. Grew up with a truck driver Dad & Uncle. '74 Transtar International with a coffin sleeper. Had a flat bed with a lowboy trailer. Hauled travel trailers from manufacturer 2 dealerships. They would haul 3 at a time. Loved my childhood traveling all over the place. Late '70's & '80's.
Stop one of my favorite BRV to watch over and over.
Badass truck and that radio is on point!
Awesome Rig & these rolling CB interviews really add to feel the story..
Ohhhh man love the sound of the jake brake!
Couldn't help but smile when I heard them jakes
Great Vid. I also grew up in the 70'S and remember the A model kwoppers. The industry has definitely changed. I used to help a man next door work on his truck when I was a kid. His buddies would help out on time-ups, wheel bearing and race repairs etc. They all pretty much did their own wrenchin' etc. When I was 12 years old I started hauling hay. At 14 I got my first job in a truck shop in town washing trucks and working on em' etc. I started driving 32 years ago (we could start at 18 back then) and still really love it to this day. I'm not that old I just started early but I love this guy's culture stories of hard work, dedication and sometimes genuine brotherhood. I too have my own stories of intending to be out of Springfield, Oregon for an hour or so and calling my wife from Nisqually or Seattle to tell her that I'll be back in a day or so...I like everything about this vid. especially the sound of the Jake etc. Trucking has definitely changed, hope there are still more guys that continue to pass it along....😊
Love seeing this. I grew up riding shotgun with my dad In his own rig. Now I do the same. Great drivers make great drivers. One kf the few things the industry is missing.
Quality footage ! Really enjoyed this video and the sound on that CAT, thank you. :)
Old-school Beautiful truck. Ohh and that Jake break. Umm. Chris thank you for the job you do. Love your videos.
Great video Chris, you know there are days where I think that this kind of mindset, attitude and dedication to the profession is a lost cause.. a pipe dream and resistance to the status quo big fleet mentality will leave you on a dead end street. Your videos and gentlemen like this give me hope and remind me that I'm not crazy. Thank you for keeping mine and many others dreams alive and in the spotlight.
Man, these are the kind of video's I really love and appreciate you doing. I've been around trucks most all my life. I'm legally blind so I can't drive at all. But these video's kind put me out there where I've always wanted to be. When this guy is talking about loving trucking. Man oh man, I know what he's talking about. I'd give anything to be able to to be trucking. Anyway man, thank you so much for what you do with these video's. Keep on keeping on brother.
Honestly, I want to do this but my energy level is low I think based on maybe a body discrepancy. It definitely is not because I do not like or love trucking. I do think the type of frieght has a level of issues too. I did flatbed with Western but I think that can be rectified.
If you're blind then how can you watch these videos
Well, I'm not totally blind. Legally blind is 20/200 and I'm pretty well past that but I can see to get around. I just can't see well enough to drive. Thanks for asking.
@@Wolfe7109
If I could drive for anybody I wanted, it would be these guys all the way.
10-4 on that best sleep youll ever have brother. Im 29 and remember those days like yesterday. Taking trips with my pawpaw, father and my step father that was mostly my father.
GOOD SOUNDING 2-WAY DRIVER,I REMEMBER GETTING OUT OF A TRUCK GETTING IN A CAR AND FEELING LIKE SITTING ON THE GROUND,LOL
This interview is one of my favorites. Love it.
well this is a rather rare truck to see, a 900A
Love the W9 flat tops hands down over petes
I agree
You know what I had one in model trucking.that thing could haul!
Pete > anything
If it was this generation w900A then yes. But the current generations hell no, interiors are crap and the dashes look like a cheap plastic half modern attempting to be old school thing that just doesn't work.
Yessir
Great job Chris! This video and the Heath Church W9A are my favorites.
This guy is really honest and he’s old school.
That Jake brake sound LAWRD!!!!!!
This truck looks good from every side, beautiful
I tell you one of my most precious memories is waking up in that old cow which would have been in the 80's and I am 38 now . But I remember the reflection of his face in the passenger window reflected by the morning sunrise... I lost my dad 2 years ago to Alzheimer's and my ol heart is just so broken... it's been tough.. anyways hearing his stories about those things that really make it part of who we are and what really make it stick made me cry like a damn baby... and it is the best sleep in the world sleeping behind the old man... safest place in the world..
Now that's a West coast large car ,,very well done ,even the paint looks great ,,it all fits together man love it
Great to see 3rd generation driver sitting in the passenger seat enjoying the open road and learning the trucking trade. That young man is America's future. Without future "great" drivers the industry is dead. Too many idiot steering wheel holders out on the road today.
with all the big corporations pushing for more regulations like eld and all the new weigh stations fucking the small companies there is no future for "great" drivers its all going to be steering wheel holders
Motortube thats fourth generation riding shotgun, there's hell of a family there, I watch these trucks go by day in and day out, they're some of the best people around they're there to help anybody
TRUE....REAL TRUE.
@@scottw6375 And they think they’re “Drivers” too..... Had one pass me in a stupid Cascadia the other day while I was talking to my buddy on the CB radio .... He flicked me off.... I felt like slamming his piece of plastic garbage with a hammer..... Then I stomped my foot on the Go Pedal and and away I went... Left him behind in his plastic junk. Guess the Automatic trucks really are for hom0exuals.......
That thing has some serious Growl to her 😱😱😱😱😱🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼
Give me an oldie but goodie like this to run and I'd be happy. Beautiful classic. My brother had a 79 W9 with flat top sleeper with a kitty cat & 13 speed.
Beautiful truck and amazing sound! Love the advice you give about being "all in"!
Great interview! Brings back some memories with my Dad and his old KW.
Brings back a lot of memories humping freight in the summer or dragging and throwing chains tapping when he was with C&H just to be with him because I didn't see him that much learned a lot because of him.
That Jake is BAD-ASS!!
Another Great Video! I really appreciate OLD SCHOOL. Thank You!
Loved the intro. Keep doing what your doing.
Man this is by far one of my favorite videos 💯 this guy is the definition of then new generation of “old skool” truckers. 🤙💯
Awesome Clip Chris, Big thanks from New Zealand...
Awesome looking rig and interview! Love to hear about the older days! That sound of that cat with that Jake though!!!
He went through my neck of the woods! I'm about an hour from Marshall and where he said he went he went right past my town
Keep coming back to this vid... very cool a model
Nice video Chris. Always love the a model Kenworth 1980 to 1980 whatever they were back then. That one is an outlaw fly wagon. Keep them coming. Love what you do.

One of the inspiration for my build.
He named his son Brockway. Now there's a bone deep trucker.😎👍👍👍😎
Iam a die hard Peterbilt fan, but have to say this is a slick ride. Super cool owner!!!! Love the outside look and that interior is kick ass!! Reminds me of the Snowman's truck! One dislike is that steering wheel WTH lol. And that Transtar sweet load!!!!
That 82 900 is totaly sweet. No doubt about it.

Awesome truck, and my favorite colors.........Black and Chrome
Nice W900 KW flat top love it
I learned to drive a 1960 kw in 1982 and fell in love with trucks so I'm fond of kw's but this is one sweet ride i've been driving for 31 1/2 years and if i could find something like this beauty I'd be running coast to coast till the day i die and as the song goes when i die i'll drive my truck up in heaven cause i'm a truck driving man. If you go through that list of drivers and are still looking for someone I'm me i'm single and kids are grown up i've got nothing but time and diesel in my veins lol. Take care be safe brother
I'm a Pete man, but damn that's a sweet truck setup the right way. Go to IMT's web site and this truck is there.
