From Varanes speech looks like the players have been told about the rebuild cost that the club is saving which means if you want to stay you have to force the club on your playing form consistency

I understand the contact issue and the injury issue, however the other defenders have also been injured this season and Varane is still our best defender. I really don't like this decision.
Madrid got rid of him because he was too injury prone and his wages were too high. We were stupid to sign him, 93 appearances in 3 seasons is crap. Glad he's going
933k per game is what Utd paid him
This is the problem of the club there is no future plans if we have to let go of senior experience players the replacment should already be at the club and be nurtured under the expericned player and then the following season they take the role.a couple of examples is de gea give him this as his last season and invest in the younger goalkeeper who builds up in the role the following season. Same goes for varane if we didn't buy mount or onana and brought in that younger cb instaed we would of had varane and licha with the younger cb understudying them and next season they take over so it is a smooth transtion now who ever that cb us is gonna be thrown in the deep end and told you will have to be the guy now deliver. The lack of using senior players experiences whilst we still have them, to ease in younger players is a big issue.

Varane is more because of his wage not his injury history, he’s the least injured player out of all the players out for long periods this season. I don’t agree him let go due to injury but I agree on wages as this can bring down the average player wage and any player signing a contract now can’t use the fact “Varane is on ……wage I want similar”
I think this is the right decision for all parties.
