Join Alex in the studio for a sit-down interview with Avril Lavigne. Avril takes us through some of her most iconic fashion moments (we all remember the neckties!) and her quick rise to fame. I listened to the full podcast, and she strikes me as having that confidence of someone who grew up and became famous before social media. Just unapologetically herself, not easily influenced by others, can deal with challenges.

Thank you so much for having Avril on the pod. As she stated, she never does these. Im sure people will find a way to counter this and convince themselves otherwise given the conspiracy theory lol but its really great to listen to an interview at length and hear that she has remained her real, genuine, raw, down-to-earth self in an industry of superficiality. When she said other celebs have had the same conspiracy theory about themselves, she wasn't talking about the lesser discussed ones of today (i.e., Paris Hilton). At one point in time, it was a big rumor about Paul McCartney and I believe a couple of other artists. I have been a fan of hers since day 1 and her music has connected with me like no others' so i'm glad she seems genuinely happy and thriving! Cannot wait to rock out at her tour! ❤❤❤
2002 avril was my fav. the music, the style. just simple, casual t-shirt and jeans, straight hair, kind of a punk/rural/country look. and the music was so unique and catchy. her first three albums were great, but my fav is still Let Go

I’ve been wondering for years how her voice changed so much, even with her speaking voice. She sounds congested like she has a cold always, very strange.

As for the voice,it changed after 2014 due to Lyme Disease.

@@HenriettaGahm-gi5yf She was shy at the time and isn't very talkative.I know she has a reputation or at least had a reputation until 2007,but has since been humble,down to earth and kind to people.She grew older and matured.I'm talking about fan experiences after 2007.She's been great for a long time.
Thanks for acknowledging that she's been nice since, at least.She has been open in interviews about being shy, as well as fans.Some fans continue to disrespect her though as she has been harassed and even attacked in 2011 and 2013 at her concerts so there are 'fans' who disrespect artists too.

Who else is hoping for Avril to pull a Posty and release a country album after her "Greatest Hits" tour? She might as well given her pre-fame past, two collaborations (Miranda Lambert and Nate Smith) and a live cover honoring one of her idols, Shania Twain. I also recently heard online that she is following more country artists on her Instagram, so between that and these collaborations, this may be a sign for things to come.

it's pretty dumb if you believe a made up theory. She's exactly the same in looks and personality (everyone is commenting that) if you think she's changed, well people do grow and change. Celebs are not being killed and replaced, it's not funny to joke about it.

The drastical changes in her appearance and voice that just keep going throughout the years are ridiculously obvious. They've also contradicted lots of times in interviews already. And im not saying she's dead. She just uses at least 2 doubles for me. But I'm pretty sure other celebrities do too.

(please keep in mind she was a teenager when she started, so any small changes can happen, also surgery/makeup/hair can make you look different) same personality, same way of speaking (watch her past in interviews) Her voice IS the same, (please remember she tried to speaking a lower tone when acting more masculine during her early album and she was a teen (but she still sings high notes in it) she can still sing low and high (watch her recent live video at the country show) to say she is secretly alive somewhere doesn't make sense at all, why her and why would it happen when she was a teenager.
Also.. she DID deny it - watch the podcast, she said to 'callherdaddy 'i'm obviously me, it's so dumb' when discussing it.

I’m sorry but I really really loved (and still do) Avril back in the day of Let Go and Under My Skin and for Alex to say that she was obsessed with her and that she was her fan is just wrong. She didn’t get any of the references that Avril said (like the chicken place in the song my world, and even the first line of breakaway) I mean. Don’t say that you were such a huge fan when it’s clearly not true. Probably she used to listen to her singles but fan, I don’t know…
I agree, I'm an original Avril fan and I knew all those lines and things already. I know all the words to her first 3 albums. I was shocked how much Avril changed between second and third album, around 2004ish. And she never went back to being her original way. I loved when she sang in that low tone, and had brown hair. That's why I really wanted to believe the conspiracy because it was like it was almost easier for me to accept that she was gone versus deliberately changing. She used to be so cool.

Loved Avril since I was 12 which made watching this interview so much more disappointing. I think I lost braincells listening to Avril talk about growing up in a small town seeing as she spent more than half her life outside of that context and surely has something to share about it? This interview just highlighted to what I’ve been observing in the lack of lyrical depth/development since 2007 - what you see on the surface with Avril is what she is. There is no depth, introspection or wisdom there, or perhaps she is trying very hard to completely obscure it from the public. Surely she’s learnt something from 2 failed marriages and a broken engagement? What was it like becoming famous so young? Does she have any thoughts on what her peers like Britney went through with their struggle with fame? Uh… watching this is just disappointing and makes it even harder to connect with her new music which also hasn’t changed but that’s a whole other conversation…
I totally get what you mean, I've been following her my whole life but... idk I think she's super private. Her ex, mod sun is incredibly wise and introspective and deep and in his interview in the punk rock mba he said that she's one of the most self aware and real people he knew. I quite value his judgement, which makes me think it's probably really hard to get avril to open up. I like to think she's obscuring it from the public. She wrote under my skin, which is what made me think there's depths to her that we've only caught a glimpse of. maybe that's just me being idealistic. but i know she's rejected those depths since.

I have to agree on this one. I've been an avid fan since she started. Her interviews lately were disappointing to the point that I don't watch it anymore. Her response to the questions were very repetitive and I feel like sometimes she's having a hard time elaborating her answer. I'm not expecting her to be poetic but at least give us some context. Altho, I still love her music.

It's true it's painful to hear her in some interviews because she sounds a lot dumber than she used to. Like if you go back to interviews from 2011 she sounds way more eloquent. Avril sold her soul. She isn’t even capable of forming an intelligent sentence. We liked her because she was intelligent and strayed away from status quo- only to later fall in line with pop culture norms a couple of albums later. It’s disappointing. I can’t believe how far she has strayed. I’m so glad FeFe Dobson didn’t do this. This is not the same person who wrote Anything But Ordinary, or Nobody’s Home. Also, it was hard to listen to how many times she says “like”. :(

I think you need to move on from 2007. This argument is asking someone to remain in an image they took on at 17. She is a massive pop rock artist that was backed by some of the biggest music execs in the industry back in the day. She was never really staying away from status quo to begin, it’s not like she’s spoken out against anything. She also simply grew up.
