When to California for the first time last summer and my uncle drove my family to San Fransisco, the whole way telling us about what goes on throughout the state. Once we arrived I immediately fell in love with it. The people, the food, the scenery just melted all together into on big flower pot. Truly beautiful and I want to live there so bad.

I like that this video focused on the community that lives there. I spent 72 hours there (I just released a travel video from the trip!) but I spent it with people who live there, so I also got an inside experience- which is so different than a visitors checklist, like most of these San Fran videos focus on.

I've watched a few NYT 36 hours videos specifically about the cities I have already visited to get a sense of how they are covered. I wouldn't say it's all the wrong stuff, but it's definitely the most bizarre collection of things and emphasis on all the things that no one would normally want to do if they had 36 hours in these places. Their 36 hours in Siem Reap in Cambodia struck me as quite odd as they spent a minimal part of the video covering the temples. Which is really why you go there. Missed Castro in SF. Very well made but peculiar videos. I wouldn't refer to them as useful in any way. My opinion of course.

When you're at Golden Gate bridge take an uber/lyft to Baker Beach and also go down the road to museum Legion of Honor.
When you're in the mission yes el Farolito is thee best burriton in SF, the best Nachos are at Pancho Villa Taqueria.
If you stop by in the Castro you have to stop in Hot Cookie.
If you're driving through the tenderloin you have to stop by for a fast cheap super yummy Vietnamese sandwich aka banh mi at Saigon Sandwich
If you're wondering what club to hit up on a friday or saturday night check out the calendars for Mezzanine, Public Works or Temple.
If it's just a bar you're interested in Polk Street has about 8-10 bars on it's street within 4 blocks of each other and plenty of pizza by the slice open afterwards til 3a.

Just visited San Francisco end of March/April 2019. Stayed down Geary St close to Union Sq. I think we done all the tourist spots you could think of. So was kept busy for a good few days. Kind station worker gave us good advice to not walk through Tenderloin with our suitcases but to go up Powell st. Sad to see how many homeless people there are walking about. Tour bus goes through Tenderloin which is sad to see. Also told other parts of California and close states are bus'sing them in to SF. not sure how true.

As a local this video was offensive. You did not get the real San Francisco at all. First of all you left out the Castro all together the most iconic area of San Francisco. The hottest night spot in San Francisco is Oasis. Oasis is the real San Francisco. Not hippster Mission Bowl. That place is an abomination.

"a lot of people are complaining because they think the character is being taken out of the city with all this new tech boom..."
    and it is.
rasputin's is closed up, amoebia music is on the downward spiral. artists and musicians have fled to oakland. rent costs are still rising. there's a shrinking diversity in community/culture. tech conventions overrun the city. google buses in the streets. the desparity of wealth is totally insane, and the homeless and drug addicts stagger the streets near powell, just down from the financial district. the first week there i saw someone pooping on the sidewalk. everyone you run into seems to be there for business primarily and hasnt lived there longer than 1-3 years. people are walking on eggshells around each other - everyones extremely sensitive to any open differences in viewpoint/opinion or confrontation.
san francisco is running on fumes.

It's not a young city. Um there are strange people here. And if you are poor or run out of money you could be subject to crime. But it does have its up. A good experience when you are with someone who cares about you or alone and have money. If you are targeted, or out of money, you want to be on your phone. You can only enjoy this city if you have money, family members, or real friends. If you are alone make it your business to find work, make new friends or connect with old ones. Its strange out here, if you have no money or friends who care. Only stay if you have somewhere to stay or you'll be subjected to the tenderloins. With that i make the best out of it

So much magic has been zapped out of San Francisco in the last 5 years alone, it feels like some sort of Orwellian experiment to even try and create some glossy propaganda travelogue of why San Francisco should even be celebrated anymore. I can't think of any city in America that has aggressively tried to weed out all creative endeavors and people that used to make the city shine. They're even kicking out the Cartoon Museum!

While I'm not a native (I moved here back in '87), I can attest to the change. The city has lost its character, which was once quirky, diverse, and vibrant. It's now a manufactured, almost fake city where nothing feels genuine. The biggest changes are in the Mission, Hayes Valley, and even the Castro.
