Marilyn DeMartini takes us on a sea trial and full walkthrough video review of the Vanquish VQ58 motoryacht - a pure power machine! Designed in partnership with Guido de Groot and built for individuals who are bored with convention, this distinctive 60-foot aluminum hull motoryacht offers countless options in terms of layout, superstructure and propulsion. Available in open, T-top and fully enclosed hard-top versions, she has a wealth of customization choices below decks to ensure no two VQ58s are exactly the same. The sturdiness of the aluminum hull is complemented by angular features of the thick, tinted windshield and black Versari pop up cleats which suit the yacht’s sharp angled edges. This yacht is the latest of several Vanquish models that range in size from 40-52’ to a new 80 Sport Fish and a commission for a 115’ yacht that should be completed in just over a year. The line also includes the sporty VQ11- and 16-foot luxury personal watercraft that are used primarily as tenders for the larger yachts. The VQ58 even has a VQ11, that seats five, tucked into its garage, an unseen and unprecedented feature for a yacht of its size.

Pretty nice! I’m still debating and weighing the pros and cons between this and a 1993 Dodge Caravan with upgraded beige cloth seats and roof rack. Hopefully I’ll make the right decision.

Really tough call. Those sun faded beige cloth seats with countless cigarette burns really are desirable. I wouldn’t want to be in your shoes deciding between the two.

You will get more use out of a Dodge Caravan but more girls with the Vanquish 58.
I love being out on the water in just about any boat with a head and an ice chest and I enjoy videos like this to critique the Yachts. I have decided there are countless other choices I would rather have. Not that it isn't awesome but I see it as a trophy Day-Boat and not even a weekender. Me and the Vanquish are not a match.

Very nice boat, I'm debating between the vq 58 and vandutch. The vandutch has an even cleaner look but needs to flush out its features a bit more IMO.

Haha! Nice, well all three of those options are great for different purposes! With the Lund, you can pull her up on a sandbar and enjoy nature on your own private island. With the VQ58, you bring your luxury private island along with you. And with either the Van Dutch or the Vanquish, you have one of the coolest looking, stylish boats on the water.

Bow thruster is standard, IPS 950 or even the 1350. Surface drives are optional with other engines.

I don't know if this joke of a boat was specd like this by someone that doesn't know what they are doing, as I don't think that any sane boat architect would design this 58ft boat with interior of a 30ft boat. What is up with finishings? Build quality? This looks like a SeaRay, and not a $3.000.000 boat. Anyone that buys this over Pardo 50 should get their head checked.

Yes... Which is perfect for someone looking for a DAY-BOAT in the Hamptons. I would like to see this same design philosophy in a more of a longer range cruiser and even live aboard.
For some similar designs, but slightly bigger models well suited for longer cruising, check out the upcoming VQ80 SF, or the existing VQ70. Also take a look at the Pardo E60 or Pardo GT52. Other ideas are the Azimut Magellano or S8 or S7. On the flip side, for some smaller more economical boats with a different but uniquely European/Scandinavian style and similar cockpit layout with walk-around passageways, open bows and comfortable cabins below making them solid cruisers, take a look at the Axopar 45 or even the Wellcraft 355.

We do... it's Brits that pronounce it [al-loo-min-e-um] although I am on the western end of the Transatlantic accent zone where we do get a lot of the Brit sounding version, I'm kind of in the middle because I grew up close to Canada.

Best use of space... you can sleep on them, more room for storage, etc. I agree that the classic chair looks better, and is better for a game of cards, a good cigar, and a cocktail with a few shipmates... :)
