    With Warner finishing up on the weekend, I'm drawn to remember my favourite Davey memory..

    Looking at Warner's test stats, I conclude that he is really good on backfoot, very good cutter, puller and hooker of the ball, gets on top of bounce to punch towards the square, but struggles on front foot. He averages 58 and 63 in Australia and South Africa respectively, but 26,21,25,27,13 in England, India, Sri Lanka, Carribean and New Zealand, where batters go slightly forward to counter spin/swing. His stats are exactly opposite to that of Sourav Ganguly. His averages reduce significantly in Aus and SA. So, you add the skill sets of David Warner and Sourav Ganguly, you get a Brian Lara or left handed Steve Smith.

    I prefer when TGC doesn't get too political or if they do recognise that it is an opinion rather than taking an arrogant stance of undeniable superiority in their beliefs (a major problem with left politics worldwide). One example is claiming that Khawaja wearing 'All lives are equal' on his shoes is not political. Yes the statement in itself is not political on the surface but you could also say 'Make America Great Again' is also not political on the surface - who would be against a country being it's best self? Obviously Khawaja is making a political statement about the war in the Middle East, to be honest it's not that i disagree with the politics but i can also call an orange an orange rather than be hypocritical. Anyways i love the show, probably got me through living in London throughout the ashes series in 2023 with some of the stupidity that was being propagated by the locals. Just positive feedback and this show absolutely makes me crack up laughing, please keep the good work up!

    Warner is an enigma ( big word ) but it describes him perfectly. I remember as kids they used to ask for volunteer's for opener. I always thought it was the best place to bat because you did not have to wait. Warner is well suited to the position and HE WILL BE VERY HARD TO REPLACE. One of Australia's best ever without question. Green does not seem to have the toughness for an Australian opener and he seems not to be a 6. Seems to need to harden up a bit.

    How about Australia stop producing pitches where the ball bounces twice before going through to the keeper whenever India tour. And how about CA stop bending over backwards to accommodate the BCCIs requests on where the test venues will be.
    All it took was a bit of pace, bounce and movement and India's IPL sloggers looked like they couldn't hold a bat.
    Next year start on a typical Gabba wicket, then the day night test in Adelaide, Perth stadium followed by the mcg scg tests. Hopefully the decks at the mcg and scg have some life in them.
    If they do that the series will be over before the 4th test and India won't be able to go on and on about how they thrashed Australia at home (yeah 2-1, a real thrashing)

      @@jehanariyaratnam2874 till now you lot used to moan about pitches that we produce............ now you're whining about pitches that your OWN BOARD produces 💀
      To answer your question, if you use that organ known as "brain", your own board wants to maximize TV revenue that comes from India by pushing literally every game to Day 5 Session 3.................
      We literally owned (yes "owned") SA on a pitch that had "pace, bounce and movement", as you mentioned......... so why can't we do it against ya

    • @jehanariyaratnam2874
      @jehanariyaratnam2874 Před 7 měsíci

      @@_warra_trophy_ yeah they produce slow low flat decks whenever India arrive. The SCG pitch was flying through when England were there in 2018, cummins starc and Hazlewood were terrorising their batsmen, then India arrive the next year and the pitch mysteriously turns into a pudding.
      That won't happen next year, it's going to be a 5-0 Aus loading coming up. They're not going to let India scrape another series 2-1 winning by 1 match again.
      It's going to be a pummelling like 1999-00 and 2011-12.
      When it comes to pitch doctoring India have been doing it shamelessly for years, that's the difference. You might occasionally get a pitch that's a bit too green or uneven in SA and Aus but for years they have been excellent test match pitches.
      Even when the West Indies were at their peak, Australia still played them on fast tracks at the WACA and inevitably lost but they never tried to change the track or avoid playing there.
      It's bloody obvious when India do it, like the bare patches left outside the left handers offstump.
      Michael Vaughan said India is the most underachieving team- i disagree, they perform exactly to their ability - that is whenever conditions and everything is in their favour they'll bash the minnows and sometimes just about beat the top sides narrowly.
      When the top sides bring their A game like the in World Cup final on a clearly doctored shit tip of a wicket , India get smashed to smithereens for the overhyped trash team they are 😆 😆 😆

    • @4LayersOfStrength
      @4LayersOfStrength Před 7 měsíci

      C.A has bigger things on their plate with Nathan Lyon's retirement. They need to focus on "team harmony" by choosing the next best opening batter from the Sheffield Shield competition (at least for the short term) - A no brainer given we are playing The West Indies.
      While any new inclusion might not succeed straight away, and might need replacing sooner than they want to, imagine how disruptive it will be to move anyone from the current side into the opening spot only to have that not work out either ~ Do they then reshuffle she batting order once again in order to reassign them their original position?
      Cameron Green has been pushed as our next great cricketing all-round yet he could find himself as an opening batter!? The only advantage I can see having him in that position would be that he can concentrate fully on his batting so that it can develop to it's fullest potential ~ Currently he is at best a mediocre Test player.
      Without Warner in the side, Australia still has enough talent (currently in the side) to "blood" the next player into that spot. Taking a player from the Sheffield Shield competition will reinvigorate that competition because those players will finally see that there genuine rewards for their hard work.

    So Australia are going to make the same mistakes they did in 1983 and 2006 when several players retired at the same time. It’s time to be ruthless - if someone is showing poor form they need to go. I heard a commentator say last week that Carey’s 50 will ‘carry him through the next two years’. That is a really poor attitude to have. If you have an extended period of poor form (when was the last time Smith made a decent score) you don’t deserve your place on the team. The theory that someone has earned when to dictate their retirement is arrogance. Which is why Warner’s didn’t go down well.

    • @barbenheimer736
      @barbenheimer736 Před 7 měsíci +7

      Smith averaged 42 last year well below his standard but find someone in Shield Cricket to do that. Warner has been poor for a while but he kept getting decent scores once in a while keeping him in team. I don't think you can accuse the side of not being ruthless when Cameron Green was left out of the side despite having only two bad games.

    When the Sydney test ends, I'm going to feel relieved that David Warner - an ethically bankrupt liar and cheat who brought Australian cricket into permanent disrepute - will never wear the baggy green again. I certainly won't clap, but I won't boo either. I just want him gone from Australian cricket. Test cricket is the first step. I will have to endure him in Australian white ball cricket for some time yet. I can hope that when he is finally retired from all forms of cricket that he does not go straight into the media but, of course, he will. So while I'll be happy that he will never represent Australia in Test cricket ever again, my ultimate dream that he will simply disappear from cricket and I can try to forget he ever played at all will never be achieved.
