I bought a pair of Slim Jim this year. For my application they are amazing, I will stay with them.

Was actually thinking the other day 'it would be great if snowtrax did a segment on runners'. And here we are! Looking to lighten up the steering on my Nytro, your advice is much appreciated! Will be looking into the slim jim or duallies.

    • @Quinine300mg
      @Quinine300mg Před 3 lety

You are not going to lighten up the steering using two carbides per ski, quite the opposite. Slim Jims are improved Dooly's that just wear out faster. Look at Accord Racing Double downs Or single carbide runners with a square stock bar. You can also check out the Cobra bars from Qualipieces. I got away using 6" Studboy Shaper bars on my 07' Phazer that likely had equally as crappy handling as your 08' Nytro. I believe Woody's is a sponsor of Snowtrax so it's not surprise that they are recommending their products.

I put the 6" flat top ace on my 16" RR and I have to say the level of control is incredible. would never go back to a round host bar.

I use Studboy shaper bars on my 5.7sl and with the curve in the profile it packs in rhere and aids in a turn. Really slick idea,

Research Bergstrom skegs I personally feel they outperform and Outlast Woody

You are 100 percent right. Bergstrom Skegs will outlast and outperform anything on the market. Some of the best products are the ones that don't spend big bucks on advertising.

Great video, Im running a 2018 Polaris indy 600 base, it has a 0.92 lug polaris track on it. I only run trails and im a moderate to aggressive rider. I find the sled spins the track everywhere even on light throttle inputs. I am planning on studding the track but im wondering if that is going to be enough to help or should i look into a 1.25 lug track and stud that. As i said i only run trails and i do big miles when ever i get out so im looking for the best solution, what would you guys recommend?

Thanks for this AJ!! Now I know what to get, for what I am driving.
Think an SKS would benefit from a round carbide... another thing is the ski itself. #C&A
Got a fully studded Storm 800.... yeah.... put that thing on a leash!! It rips your arms off and slaps you with them...
Hold your sacks and strap your cacks, we're going for a ride!!

    You need runners.... DIY
Its easy just think about it.....
Get a steel rod ,Bind it how you want it...weld 3 pins (you know where) and the fun part is to sharp it with grinder in a ''hockey skate blade'' shape..
    With 2 pairs,im good for the season (7000-8000km) and instead of 240$ for 2 pairs , it cost me 14$ + 45 minutes ! !

Sponsored by Woody’s ?! Lots of other options out there I would like to see a segment that is unbiased to a brand. What are some of the best carbide solutions for different types of riders and sleds. I know Woody’s is a sponsor. Some die hard ST viewers would like to know simply what’s works best for what application? Without being biased to one brand!

Great video, but I'm riding one of those old trailing arm sleds. I'm on a 2001 SRX 700. NO picks in the track.
With all of the questions that have been asked, I'm willing to bet that they all go unanswered. It's all about money. AJ, LUKE and the Lester family are getting paid...

I heard a rumor that Studboy lost their patent on the Shaper design which has now been picked up by Woody's in their new Maverick bar. If this is true then that is great news. Shaper bar quality seems to have gone down. I've had a pair of 7.5" Shaper's lose an insert riding on a lake and they bend really easy. At least with Woody's the quality should be much better.
