- We finally got to catch up with Nigel Petrie of Engineered to Slide while attending MotorEx in Melbourne and took a close look at his hand built mini truck Hilux drift car, powered by a 330kw SR20DET, coupled to a sequential 6 speed transmission.
There is so much attention to detail on this rig you need to see it to believe it!

Just came across this vid. Seen the car a number of times and have loved it. Reading through the comments and a good 50% are people complaining about it or saying that he or they would do something different, yet clicking on their channel they have no build videos whatsoever...
This is what Gingium needs to do with his 1UZ Mazda B2200. He probably won't through.
BoostAddict gingium is terrible don’t expect anything from him... I’ve been watching his channel for a few years and he has promised maybe 5 different builds non of them came to fruition

he never finishes what he started are you dumb? I do not watch TJ or Blue they both suck..... I watch Tyler Fialko and Boostedboiz. Here is some of gingiums failed builds: The van, The RX7, the whole 500hp blue miata, the schoolbus, the AWD swap rally miata, i am sure there is more but i dont remember.
LiveToRide they're not failed, just not done. And the bus is definitely not a fail
He has to many vehicles that all need attention and wants to do with the van was the worst mistake and dumbest thing I’ve ever seen.. there was red signs all over that thing, that thing was the biggest rust bucket I’ve ever seen

Bought my first car today at 17. Same model Hilux as the cab of this one. The grill looks very similar so could even be the same year. Love what he's built.

I dont love how it sits at the rear.. I can see why people love it. But its just too far away from a hilux. But engineering wise its obviously just mindnumbingly amazing.

When a car is built to do one thing very Weill you get the most bad ass over built tube frame but it’s all necessary
I like drifting, but not so much that I want to build such a barebones drift machine. I have a mid-80s Nissan truck that I plan to turn into a drift machine, but I also want it to be able to continue being used as a truck. The bed is staying and so is the cab and all the internal luxuries like power steering and AC. I am going to swap in a built 13b turbo rotary with matching transmission and do a coilover conversion on the front and back. I'm going to swap out the rear axle for a stronger one. I'm sort of torn on the power steering. I need to swap out the steering box for a rack and I kind of want it manual like my current daily beater, but not entirely sure. I'll make that decision when I get to it.
May seem odd with all the cool things this truck has but, How does he keep all that raw metal from rusting? Is it cleared? In Texas you'd make it 2 days tops before the moisture got to it, not to mention rinsing it off after a weekend of fun..how does all this metal go presumably untouched??

What are the advantages of running an alternator-less set up? Less parasitic load on the crank?

I like the truck I have a 99' Tacoma which looks a lot like this Hilux they, did a good job on it but I would've kept it Toyota instead of the Nissan sr20 ig because he allready had it available to him because he took it out of his s13 but I would've put a 4age silvertop or blacktop, a 1jz or a beams 3sge but its his money not mine but it's a nice build. 🤔

Edward Rokman runs what electrical it needs then when he's parked he probably charges it. Cant imagen the truck needs much electric power

I love custom builds but there is a point where the vehicle looses its name credibility...just call it a mini truck :) as toyota needs no credit for it, most ute bodies look the same anyway

A Tacoma is absolutely a truck, the bed is separated from the cab, this one while technically still a truck ostensibly is not.
