Honda stepped up big time, looks amazing
Michael you’re the smartest dirt bike reviewer ever
Making my decision for 2021 so hard, my hope is the chassis is more stable, and less finicky on set up..... thanks 🙏 so much for the content!!!!!
Finally Raised headtube to cradle, centerport exhaust, I'm shoving a 2t 500 in there. Are you listening Honda?
My exact thoughts. No more custom y pieces for 500 conversions! haha
What is with people and the 500 2 strokes .. get over it they will never be made and I bet you couldn't even use half the power of this 450 on an mx track
Jake Hynds your just a hater and you probably don’t even know the adrenaline rush or the fun of a 500 2 stroke🖕🏿
@@xBxplaya12 I have ridden 500s they dont turn worth of crap burn way to much fuel and 450 4 stroke is faster in 90 percent of terrain
Take your coloured finger and stick it
R.I.P Dual Exhaust
Satria41 if they kept duals this bike would be perfect looking!
Finally they’ve come to their senses. Dual exhaust was a gimmick. It had zero benefits.
Zach Merritt nobody cares about looks 😂
ParaMoto910 I certainly do🤤 I mean don’t get me wrong this thing is freakin sexy. I just am a duals fan but I don’t ride a Honda anyways so🤷🏻♂️
Zach Merritt yeah it’s cool
That is one of the sexiest MX bikes I have ever seen... just wow. Kudos for getting rid of the dual exhaust.
sorry but dual exhaust are always needed! Hondas gotta have'em!
@@jamesdupuy1235 ima miss the dual exhaust man it was so cool
i ride honda’s but how many times are we gonna switch back and forth between dual and single pipes. why are we getting a 2021 in jan of 2020😂
Michael, your mystery box must be the battery and starter solenoid.
That moves a heavy item down and closer to the center of mass of the machine.
It also shortens the length of the large copper wiring between the battery and starter.
Conductors are sized based on total circuit length and the current flowing. A shorter wire can be smaller in diameter. Copper is heavy.
looks so sick. Can’t wait for more information on this thing
I also like that they removed the plastic that was covering the top of the titanium tank. Keep the videos coming Michael your channel rocks. Oh and good luck at Arizona this weekend!
This looks siiiiick. So ready for production.
This bike will never be in production
Now get the production the same with a single silencer and THE Weight down to 3 pounds off the KTM as Honda will run coil forks and that's the difference between the two air and coil.
I’m liking what I see. There’s definitely a bunch of architecture and refinement to this bike bringing a ton of contrast as well.
Pretty sweet
Some on the welds on that frame are rough looking
EGREGIOUS. I bet they'll be cleaned up for production
All hondas have big thick welds
Yeah I hope so
If you race it like he does they need to be a little stronger
I have this feeling the 2021 bikes are gonna have major changes for all manufacturers
I think Kawi will stay with their current 450 with small improvements.
Casey Lee I agree, the 250 will get the big updates in kawi. I think we will see some big updates w Honda, Yamaha, Ktm and HOPEFULLY suzuki. But I’m just a weekend warrior, only time will tell
@@haydenbaha would be nice to see an update to Suzuki's bikes 100%!
Yes like it’s 2020 for crying out loud. Every other bike has a putt on and even Wifi tuning on the Yamaha. It’s a shame they aren’t trying to keep up with the other manufacturers.
Build the wall 👍
One of countless and impractical broken promises.
The last 3 years were identical to a Hillary presidency. The military industrial complex, Israeli Zionists, and the CIA/Mossad are still running the show.
But let's keep pretending we don't see it.
Bradley Thomsen not anymore
Gonna miss the dual exhausts but at least a new pipe will be cheaper
What they have done away with what we were told was the best system for four strokes haha finally finished with that bs, next they will make 2 strokes again. Anyways good info ML. It’s a good looking bike, maybe the best since the 07 CR250R, not as good, but best 4t Honda, interested in what the black box is as well if a factory only proto or testing or something that may be on the production bike. Hope they follow a similar lead on the 250f and drop dual pipe infatuation. 🤙
Thanks Lindsay, pretty cool hopefully you can test it in about 6 months and give us some real feedback.
I wish I could afford one of these. Such an awesome bike! Honda and Yamaha are great bikes. Great video my dude!
So sick 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Def looks cool but Im still happy with my 2020 250r
Snickers nah this is ugly as hell
Yea 2021 is ugly as shit I’m getting a 2020 250r
Snickers yea man I love my 250r has one almost right after they came out and it’s the best bike out IMO
Agreed, I’m going with a 2020 250r. 250f’s are fun, 450’s are overkill.
So about the black plastic box behind the throttle body, any chance its a smaller battery for lower mass centralization? Im unable to see how deep it goes in the pics. Lithium ion battery tech is improving fast and maybe just to start the bike they can now have a much smaller battery. Itll be cool if that is what it is. That was my first guess, what do you think?
good eye
Yep I’m betting it’s the battery too.
Very very interesting bike, definitely looking forward to how it compare to the other.
Honda is not exactly known for producing perfect all new bikes in the first year, I'll maybe consider it, if it is a good bike.
And that weight loss claim is ridiculous, I won't believe that until it's proven
Any thoughts on that black box potentially being the battery for the bike? Would potentially optimize airbox space and centralize mass a little more.
Really like the looks besides how low the header pipe is. One of my favourite things about 4 strokes is how ticked away the header pipes are, and this bike isn’t like that 😬
As usual, very thorough & appreciated. TY.
I hope it rides better than the 1920 version also! (10:07)LMAO
ghpjerry I meant 19 to 20 model but sometimes my brain goes faster than my mouth 😂
@@MichaelLindsay LOL! Of course it was a Freudian Slip...I've been watching you long enough to know you're the most capable & in depth person in the industry. You & I have had conversations in the past. Just busting your balls, but it sounds like 1920...funny right??
😂😂😂😂 u beat me to it!!! Dammit lol. But yea Michael we know what you meant, just gotta give ya a hard time hahahaha again...love the in depth as always video. Thanks man forreal. Love it.
Honda knew they had to step it up to try and keep up with the #blucru
Yamaha has been a non issue. Kawasaki have been really kicking ass. Honda is gunning for Kawi.
Great video
I want one ! 😍
Jeeez there making such big positive changes
Think it’s worth the 7-8-9 month wait to purchase a 21 instead of a 20?
I was thinking the same thing. Although I’m still riding an ‘09 😢 so I’m sure that extra time isn’t gonna hurt.....
yes do the wait
U are the best!!! Thanks
Thats a fuckin beautiful bike, good job Honda
Thanks for this Michael! I really enjoyed your straight-cut, relativity unopinionated reporting on this. Just from your impressions, what do you personally think about it? Anything you're hyped/concerned about?
got to feel for ktm/ husky. they design a pretty bike and the other manufacturers just copy the shape. such a shame a company cant be individual in its design.
still looks trick however
In the GPs KTM is the dominant force so it makes sense to copy what they do
Thanks a lot !!! 👌🏻👍🏻🤘🏼
DAMN! that's gorgeous.
This bike spell performance... Is a shame that they have this bad design for the plastic shoroud
Right
Yeah 2020s look defenitly better this think is going to rip
I think that box below the airbox and above the starter is possibly a battery box. It looks to be about the right size possibly and would help them keep their weight more centralized. Plus without the dual exhaust running through there, it gave them room to move it out of the airbox possibly and get more airflow through the airbox.
interested to see how it rides, and i always wonder how they make factory bikes any better year after year. Plastic wise its pretty much a red husky, however it does look very good
Hydraulic clutch?
I'm sure that the 450 Honda is going to feel right for just about everyone who throws a leg over it. The welds on this thing drive me nuts...looks like they were made in 2nd grade shop class. Good to see them lose the dual mufflers. I'm waiting for you to hammer one of these babes and tell us your take. That, I TRUST! Good eval as usual.
The ass end looks like a Ktm ! I like it
I noticed an oil sight glass. I know this is on Kenny’s and jb’s bike but do you think that will be production again?
Brock Hammond I’m not sure how I’d survive without one, so useful.
I’d say likely no. They use a dipstick on the production case. I’m actually super surprised they use a sight glass on the works cases, due to the fact it gives them a piece that can be broken or fail and cause engine harm. And also because they run an oil capacity that differs per rider and application...so the sight glass isn’t accurate.
It’s weird the factory team would run a sight glass. One more thing to break and they don’t check the oil. They measure it once. Not like they run hours on oil.
Interesting observations ML :)
Yoshimura R&D of America, Inc. no duals😢
Looks sick tho
@@zachmerrittmusic Times...they are a changin'
@joe games They have not released the new bike yet!
I want to love this bike I really do.. I’m super happy they went back to the single side exhaust, BUT.. the plastics are what get me. Not a fan of the minimalist plastics on the subframe. I hate how the entire exhaust shows, and they literally shaped the front plate and side plates the same as the KTM’s so it just looks like a red KTM to me.
Great looking motorcycle
Who and why would you give this 👎?... it's a honda I give it 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Highly doubt the production bike sheds 6 lbs let alone 12
Gregd351 exhaust is 4 lbs or so......
Gregd351 easier to shed weight than you think. Imagine if they went to a composite subframe/airbox
@@joshuabower61 Shedding weight is the literal hardest thing to do. They would lose 1lb TOPS
Red looks good on a 2016 Husqvarna 🤣😩
TWITCHY twitch 🤣🤣🤣
TWITCHY twitch u mean a white ktm?
Single muffler. Yee-haw! Finally.
Looks beautiful. I might be back on red...
S DB ah man, I really think the twin pipes looked damn cool though.
@@Chrissy-H
This is not road racing, dude. Dirt bikes do not benefit from having twin mufflers whatsoever.
looks like late 80's early 90's bike
I wonder about the frame flex...
Timothy Tate That’s the biggest change everyone is waiting for.
Honda runs 4 year production cycles, this is expected. Given the way the last 4 years have gone, they have made good changes each year, I think for those like myself with 2019-2020 CRF450's don't run to change, let this cycle come out and time will tell how much better it really is. Reality is as is the case with most, Honda chassis are usually very rider friendly and I suspect Honda will continue down that path.
I’ve always rode japanese bikes. Talked a lot of smack about ktm until I bought one last fall. After owning one i can see why people buy em and stick to them. Cool to see/hear honda took some pages from ktm’s book. Should be an awesome machine.
Looks like a new sleek/narrower swingarm?!
I would like to see adjustable valves on all the bikes, I'm sure they're holding
this out for when they run out of gimmicks. I'm not fully serious, but this
is something they should have been doing for the last 10 + years.
do you think 19 20 shock will fit?
carbon fiber or TI sub frame would be a great next step on weight saving ..
So excited to see that Honda has finally dumped the dual exhaust, it's opened up so much design capability without having to fit another can on there. I just hope this one is more durable than the last two generations of Hondas, I had both the 09-12 and the 13-16 and every time you laid that bike over the subframe was bent and the radiators were trashed. Looks great though glad the head pipe comes straight out of the front now, hopefully this bike will get back to the old Honda ways. Headshake has been the worst part of the Hondas for two generations now.
nooooo the dual pipes r goneeee but sexy as all hell
Dual pipes.. more weight.. dumb
Do you think they are gonna make a works edition that is sold on show room floors?
"Not too many people have 20 grand! to spend for one of those.. people don't understand that the guys racing those are "work's bike's. With tons more power! With tons, more suspension. Plus totally different than a stock bike one of those would be awesome to have no doubt about it..
John Kolinoff the works edition is a better platform for us doing nationals then the stock is why I was wondering. “20 grand” is a little over dramatic but no doubt it would be really nice for them to do a works edition with this model.
@@devinrodriguez5545 "I believe you can buy their works "limited production bike" 450R now for like $9,399. Plus tax. which is the works version, it comes with titanium lower Forks, titanium exhaust, which is a plus. "What I'm saying is the sponsored racers.. they have better of everything, but I like the fact..you can have a titanium exhaust, and titanium lower Forks, on the new 450R - Honda offers now.And from the racing aspect of it. full factory bike's... can go upwards of twenty grand... if not more! titanium this" carbon fiber that, starts adding up real quick! Like they say It's Only Money.
In the first month of 2020 and we are already looking at 2021 bikes...
It looks like it's a light, thin bike compared to the 2019-2020 models
Huh?? Are the 19-20s that much different from the 18? I have a 18 450r and it is 2" thinner than the other brands and is the second lightest 450 made.
@@tripleonemx4423 yeah it's way different it has single exhaust,it's thin and looks light. The 2021 concept they said was probably going to be the bike we can all buy.It looks bad ass
Any idea on a release date? Cause...I need one.
I can only still wish for a crf350f
Never understood the dual exhaust on a single cylinder engine? My KTM 450-SXF-Factory has 0 issues breathing
literally january 2020 wtf lol
Sterben - They already set up the project team for 2022 bike! The 2023 model - I've heard - will have laser fused frame, memory foam seats, 90% recycled plastic for the fenders and panels, and the motors will be all 3-D printed from 100% virgin carbon fiber. Moreover, the frames will be helium filled for lightness, mufflers will be heavily modified BOSE noise cancellation headphones. Steering and braking will be ride-by-wire computers (left-over Boeing 737-MAX computers) controlled with both front and rear steering and auto-braking control. There is MORE! If the rider behind you is to overtake this Honda ,it will automatically accelerate fo you. Cheers!
Told ya 2021. Did u see when 2019 pop out? Did u see 2021 HONDA last year. When u buy your 2020?? Haha should waited
Jaime
😂 perfect
Any idea if Roczen will be jumping on this?
I dont think he will ride it this year but next year for sure. Depends when the bike is released in the US
rear looks like a ktm tbh
Half honda half KTM 🤣
SocalYzF710 my ktm 125 is plenty of power, I love the design but ktm 2t rule forever! Better to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow!
Aaaaa u all need. Husqvarna
bite your tounge
Half ktm half Suzuki and the only Honda is the front fender and the number plate 😂😂
looks like a Ktm Honda mix
What's with all the cables coming behind the handlebars?
Is this the new Honda SXF?
Don’t like how the 17-20 looks on the track, looks very sketchy. Honestly think if Ken was on a different bike in 17’ the crash doesn’t happen, that bike kicked him so hard. It deflects while other brands bikes absorb IMO
You nailed it...Honda has had the hardest bike to ride since 2013, the dual pipes were ridiculous and made the subframe weak. Every other brand of bike has been better to ride for a while, then they stuck a 60 hp engine in a bike that's impossible to find a comfortable setting on...
Im sorry guys break the News. But i figured u want to know. This bike will be released soon.
Looks awesome! But I'll stick with my 2001 ttr 225.
Would love to have You on Our Podcast
Why no duals that was so beautiful lookin
Should be easier to stick a 250 2t in the chassis with that y section.
Will there be a new Suzuki in 2021?
Keefier said on the pulp show someone told him there will be some updates, but he didnt give any hints as to what they will be.
Keefier said on the pulp show that someone told him there will be updates but he didnt say what they will be.
nice
Honda listen to the people we want 2 strokes back
Will there be a 2021 honda crf 250?
Of course lmao
These manufacturers needs to come out with new suspension ideas, especially the rear. This tech is SO old now... mt. bike industry way ahead of the curve.
So in the near future there will be no more rear number plates.
I preordered one, then Honda yanked my allocation from the dealer... I found another though - just crossing my fingers now.
will they update the crf450l it came in so under powered
Looks like battery is between shock and cylinder
this is a prototype version that's why welded parts are rough
I think the 17-20s look better
I want it. And I want to turn it into a supermoto
that little black box is an airpump, like used in motogp
Nope
tiene un aspecto a la moto naranja
Y is everyone in the comments acting like there 17-20 bikes weren’t great. They bikes have been stepped. They been winning big races and will continue to win now stfu
They have put 09-012 450r yoshi on it seems like a bit backwards Honda
Nooooooo why did they do away with the twin pipes
I hate to see the price tag.
Crazy thing not to give it a Hydraulic clutch.
Red ktm?
