    Great video Skyler. At least on this 3 banger nothing fell on the members. Bet they were there quite a while after you left. I used to despise these industrial fires when I was a volly. The only thing worse was when the city dump lit off and we got called in mutual aid. 6 hours of standing there with a 2 1/2 line. Almost fell asleep from the boredom.

    Love your videos ! Still can't figure out why aerials can't have a rolled up hose or 2 at top and middle of ladder and then connected or noozle is already attached then just needs bottom hose.

      Cause it’s very rarely done. Usually they do a bottle stretch

    • @Eric-sn4qz
      @Eric-sn4qz Před měsícem

      FDNY has that capability but don’t use it that often. That’s why they have Tower Ladders

    How does the "Exposure" system work? One is the main street frontage and then how does it go? Clockwise or by streets?
    Mark from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺

    • @michaelfagan2086
      @michaelfagan2086 Před měsícem +1

      Yep, clockwise around the building if you were looking top down.

    • @Eric-sn4qz
      @Eric-sn4qz Před měsícem +1

      Yes and if it extends say past exposure 2 then it becomes 2a, 2b etc.

    • @SkylerFire
      @SkylerFire  Před měsícem

      Clockwise 1 Street usually

    FDNY- one of the finest departments in the United States (no sarcasm) that fights more fire than some whole states do. BUT- isn't there a better way to get good access through these roll up doors and garage doors? They seem to spend a lot of time getting good access. Can someone invent a new widget?

    Just look at that massive indraft at the beginning of the video! It's rageing in there! Would like to know wht is actually burning.
    Despite the heavy smoke, almost none of the firemen seems to have his BA on. And if I had any contact with the FDNY, I would suggest that each Battalion be outfitted with one or several small excavators for breaking these bloody steel gates in seconds! And Halligan Tools for doors and windows!

    • @SkylerFire
      @SkylerFire  Před měsícem

      By time that gets on scene. Thats crazy

    • @jurgenkuhlmann9194
      @jurgenkuhlmann9194 Před měsícem

      @@SkylerFire Judging by what I can see on screen: firemen are busy opening these rather stubborn steel gates. All are carrying their bottles on their backs. But even those who are closest to that acrid smoke pushing from the fire building do NOT have their masks on. Some are even standing halfway IN the building, also without BAs.
      In a Fire Brigade with a high reputation for its professionalism, there seems to be something amiss, doesn't it?

    Seeing a white helmet with SCBA on is weird but it looks like their not a battalion chief, but like a safety officer

    • @SkylerFire
      @SkylerFire  Před měsícem +1

      White helmets are chiefs, the 2nd due chief is the fire sector. All Battalion Chiefs have a SCBA

    What pressure are they usually running on the hand lines?

    • @SkylerFire
      @SkylerFire  Před měsícem +1

      130 for 1.75 with 4 lengths out...70 for 2.5
