After several decades of being a professional classical musician, I retired from playing, sold my trumpets, and turned my musical interests to composition. I did, however, keep my beloved Selmer Paris piccolo trumpet, a gift from my father when I got my first full-time job performing.

@@terryhinkemeyer3857 The list of people who can play this as well or better is extremely short. I had the good fortune to play with Caleb over several weeks a decade ago. I can assure you he is one of the finest trumpet players in the world.

Ummm. I just got home from work, still currently sitting in my car, seatbelt on. This piece is absolutely transformative and stopped me in my tracks. Often times I unwind in my car before getting out after a long work day to clear my head from my day and to change gears to what I am going to cook myself for dinner. I was hypnotized and captivated by the sheer delivery of such beautiful notes and the dancing staccato of such melodious and unending circles of dancing around the notes and octaves. my mind is blown. thank you. Wonderful piece. 😍❤️👌🏽
Frequently, clasical music is about the faithful performance of a composer's thoughts. Sometimes we are witness to a player's acknowledgement of the composer's intent plus the addition of their personal perspective. When you add in a mastery of the instrument, it becomes head-turning and glorious. That's all I can say. Glorious.

I've watched too much CZcams and I have to say this is one of the best videos I've ever seen. It really delivers on originality and excellence like few videos do. This sort of thing is the promise of the internet, bringing creations to light which might never have been shared. This was never going to be on MTV or something like that even though it's so much better than anything which the masses consume.
Wow, Wynton eat your heart out! It's beyond me how anyone can press thumbs down for such a stunning performance by a legend such as Caleb; that I first heard with the Canadian Brass. Such a beautifully 'cantabile' sound on the Piccolo. Still love you Wynton!

I have for years told youngsters who think they can and will be great pros on the trumpet and make a great living that "good trumpet players are a dime a dozen". Wish I could have this and other works by this artist for these kids to see and hear.
@@robertjwilliams3532 So true. Not only that, in cities with recording/career opportunities like Nashville, about 3 trumpeters earn 95% of the money that can be made. It is very tough and you have to be at the highest level of ability (then have connections).
not far from Nashville and Memphis have seen this all my life. Play at trumpet for 20-25 years.

Hi Caleb, I have been following you since you appeared. I played trumpet for 10 years. I really enjoy listening to you play. My teacher always said anyone can blast the trumpet but playing the lower register with control is something entirely different. I put the trumpet down because of illness .I would love to pick it up again. All my best.

It is also so much differences between piccolo trumpets in terms of easy playability There are also that we are very different and feel different the same instrument. But at the end I played this piece on alto fecorder so it is not originally written for piccolo trumpet.

Oh wow; what a brilliant piece of music & performance. I've always had a problem learning to play the piccolo trumpet and never really liked much some of the popular classic compositions. This composition/performance changed my view completely committed to playing these kinds of solo pieces for piccolo. Thanks much for effort/sharing and please do keep them coming.
