In today's video I take a look at what really makes sales on Amazon KDP. It's been over 10 years and I have learnt a lot about publishing low content books. There are some things that matter a lot, .and something that matter a little -- my goal is to help publishers pivot away from bad advice and build their KDP businesses.

Hey Chris, great job as always. Could you make a video on a good launch plan for a book..also how many books should a new publisher publish in a month on an average. When you have published multiple books in a month how do you decide the ad spend on each book. What about publishers who have no mailing list or social media presence, how do they go about advertising their books.....are there any tools for it....could you please answer all these questions in your next video.....would really help beginners like me.
Chris , amazon kdp allows you to live based on the kdp activity? Re invest back and feel comfortable . Or you have to have additional job

I agree with you on the niche research tools. I use several and they all give me vastly different information when I’m doing the research. None of the people recommending these programs ever talk about that. I am so glad I discovered your channel and learned how to use my head for niche research.

Thanks for your work Chris, i'm tired of giving out to myself for such low sales everything has been organic I was a little afraid of Amazon advertising , So now it's time to invest in myself here we go budget for next month worked out so let's see what happens, Plus some advice to your other listeners I have curtailed myself to three youtube channels to stop mental overload, I will pat myself on the back for one thing I'm so dyslexic I have never read a book but as you can see With a little more work I write by Speech to text and Spell Checkers so on and so on just need my writing proofreaded by a friend so there you go good luck to all with their challenges in front of them

i literally done all i can do. i've listen to you and many many others. i've spent over 300 bucks in ads, book promotions, descriptions, covers, key word research and everything else i can do. and i've still not seen any traction or sales.
and before anyone says it, i published the first edition over 5 years ago and i've been doing everything everyone suggests and i have seen no growth.
i am at the end of my rope and i have no idea of what more i can do. i'm nearly broke and out of options.

I used my own artwork to create my first book. I'm working on my second now taking my time.and enjoying the process. Marketing is not my strongest point so learning alot. Happy New Year all

Awesome video. What is your take on coloring books with the rise of AI? Do you think that low content niche is basically dead as it will be even more saturated and spamed with books?
Chris, can you do a video on how you find people on sites like Upwork for your covers and interiors? Do you search for graphic designers, book interiors, artists, or something else entirely?
Sure
I've been using TikTok and Pinterest to market my KDP notebooks and coloring books and have had success with both. But I think success with both of those platforms depends on your audience.
when you talk about success what do you mean? can w have a conversation somewhere?

Like If I've to do it then what should be the steps to follow?
I mean I had 10k views on one of my coloring book posts. I'm sure that led to sales on KDP but there's no way to track that unfortunately. @@FACCIAMOLO
I've found that the best engagement I get on TikTok is through posts where I color in the pages of my coloring books. @@HistoryMystery07
Would you ever consider doing calls or consulting with people who haven't bought software through your affiliate link? I'd be happy to pay but I don't buy software from that company because of their predatory pricing structure and the way some of their older apps in particular were released with glaring omissions that were never fixed because they moved on to other projects instead.
i publish 100 books they are live but i not get any single sale form any book. i now following your channel and now following your strategies. i am from pakistan. My name is Haris shah.
I just started not too long ago, but KDP takes weeks to approve/reject my book. They approved the first paperback but when I add a hardcover version, that was rejected repeated despite having the same title and subtitle. 😡 Same standard replies that is ridiculous. Now it's over 1.5 months.

Chris, what about the following niche: Comics/Manga? Is there a place for short ilustrated stories in that format?
I think I recall seeing blank manga comic books doing quite well actually. Which is easier than fully illustrated stories. I think indi pubbed manga stories/comics would be a harder market to break into

Hi Chris, I agree with everything you said about bad advice, i was sitting here nodding my head :) Particularly Social Media marketing - been using Pinterest and Facebook with my own page for this with no luck for around 2 years - its probably okay for people with thousands of followers. Plus the perceived value thing too is a bit unrealistic especially with the cost of living crisis here in the UK. People want a bargain or get the best value for their money so always best to price competitively, even if its just a few pennies under other's prices. Plus reviews don' t matter that much for these sorts of books, people will buy it if they like the look, price and it fulfills a need. Design wise always make title text large enough and clear to read as people will be scrolling on mobile phones at lot of the time and as you say, book covers appear as a small thumbnail. Even knowing all of this I still struggle to make sales, niche research being my weakest point!

I currently have 28 low content books, a combo of journals, composition books. I am severely stuck on Marketing and how to get noticed. I've used Book Bolt for keywords and have seen tons of videos. But i am just stuck on Marketing. Is Social Media better than Amazon KDP Marketing? And Can we get a tutorial on KDP marketing steps? I am confused on all the different options.

Is it possible for you to take a look at my last few books, to tell your opinion? I did everything according to the plan, but not sales from ads and no organic sales. Does it mean my books are not attractive for amazon buyers?

Can you confirm is your ad budget $100 for the first two weeks and then $50 for the two weeks following that? Or is it $100 for the first two weeks and another $150 for the four weeks following that? This was unclear to me.
So yeah 150 in total. 100 for first two weeks, then an extra 50 for the remaining. But it can shift a little outside of that budget if it makes sense too

SM Marketing does work but it takes YEARS to build up a following!!! and then it' gets you some sales but not huge like people think...also, how to email you, I want to tell you my story of SM marketing as you said you wanted to know if people had success with it..
