CZcams blocked a LOT of the song and took us 5+ edits to get this video up! 🤣

Yeah it makes sense, The song is so good they redid the story board for the section because the VA sang it so well! Also it's just super emotional and really well sang, so it got a lot of views. Also means it's got the CZcams bots all over it. Glad you got it posted!
Fun fact: the animators had to redo the story boards for "Its Over Isnt It?" Because Pearl's VA went so hard on it
Her VA put her whole Pearlussy on the song
One of my fav fun facts about this episode
@@bhelliom3same, it’s honestly such a beautiful piece of information
Deedee sang “its over isnt it” so well that they had to redraw the scene because the previous board didnt match 😂❤❤ she is incredible
Redo Story boards*
"-That wasn't the problem
Then what was?
-She fell in love with you..."
I know Pearl's song is the highlight of the episode, but I always get chills when I hear this bit... Its raw and powerful and vulnerable, I just love this episode.
I love how the show acknowledges Steven's ungodly strength here without needing to say a word.
Saw the thumbnail and IMMEDIATELY clicked. Pearls most amazing performance! Mr. Greg is one of my favourite Steven Universe episodes ever!
SAME
Me too ! Never been so early 😭🫶🏽
Mr Greg is one of the best episodes in the whole season and I will stand on this hill. The musical apporch, the talk between Greg and Pearl, It's Over Isn't It, all of it is just perfect.
I’d go as far to say Mr.Greg is one of the best in the entire show. It’s easily a top 10 episode for me.
@@tariqthomas9090 Yeah I meant to say show but I was in the middle of doing a quiz in school so it slipped my mind and I typed season. Whoops (ヾ; ̄▽ ̄)ヾ
it's my top 1 episode
While everyone raves over "Its Over Isnt It"(obviously justified, one of the most gut wrenching songs in the series) but I actually also ADORE "Both of You". A song simply about building bridges and knowing how to talk to othrrs about trauma. Its over isnt it can make me emotional but I damn near bawl when I hear Both of You and the convo in it.
SAME!! Both of you is my fave song from the entire show. I lobe what it represents, what it accomplishes in the end, the music, everything. I just kinda wish the conversation between Pearl and Greg were slightly longer just to dig deeper into their path of reconciliation tho, but I love it anyway
Both of You is structurally important but I just can't get into the sound of it. The melody isn't my favourite.
It's a beautifully sincere song.
Marty being Sour Cream's father has been strongly hinted at before-
In the flashback episode where we first see young Greg, Vidalia (SC and Onion's mom) is seen as a groupie hanging with Marty (and it's implied they were having a casual hook up)-
And in the episode where Steven and Amethyst go to Onion's house, Amethyst asks Vidalia if she ever hears from Marty these days 🤔
ol farty Marty
@@jasonhair2457 yes
I think it was more than just a hookup as she responded "no I'm seing yellowtail* now" which implies she was seing marty at one point and not just hooking up w him (although it could've started off as that)
@@jaydenking7408 Yeah I thought the implication was that when Sour Cream was born, she obviously tried to keep in touch with Marty for a bit, plus he was still an acquaintace of Greg who now also hung around Beach City
@@jaydenking7408I think she's saying she can't hook up Marty again because she's seeing Yellowtail. Greg and Marty only visited Beach City for a short time, so it seems unlikely Vidalia had much of a relationship with Marty.
I want to share a very recent observation that I've never seen brought before. Once for each season, we can find Pearl sitting around edges: First in "Rose's scabbard", later in "Sworn to the Sword", and now "Mr Greg"... and It is interesting how each time her behavior becomes more risky than the other, to the point that in her contemplation during "It's over isn't it" she's doing her pirouettes with her eyes closed.
Anyways, I'm so glad to see you guys reacting to Mr Greg!
Whoa I never noticed that before! How she's up so high on that floating boulder, then sitting with her feet off the edge of the sky arena, and now here on the balcony of a skyscraper. That must be purposeful right?
Oh wow, and all of those are times that focus on her relationship with Rose.
Oh "Mr Greg", Rebecca's favourite episode of the series and my second favourite. Say whatever you want about Pearl but she is and always will be my favourite of the core crystal gems and this is easily her biggest episode of the series. In this episode she says herself that being with Greg was Rose's choice make and even calls herself petty for harbouring resentment toward Greg over Rose's choice. But at the same time just because these feelings are unfair doesn't mean they don't exist. This show handles the topic of unrequited love so masterfully and maturely. Not to mention the episode dodges the ultimate cliché or a character coming into money and becoming selfish. Greg himself even says that he doesn't need money or luxuries, he already has a great life and the money is just an extra. Plus Steven once again acting as a diplomat and starting a path to reconciliation for Greg and Pearl, I don't know how far ahead you guys are so I won't say what that means for his arc but let's just say, it's important
It was never directly stated, but it was heavily implied in previous episodes that Marty is Sour Cream's dad.
One thing I love about this show is the end of the episode isn't a reset to the status quo, and we see this in Greg and Pearl's relationship moving after this episode.
Fun fact: the tapping during the song Mr. Greg was done by Shelby Rabara, the voice of Peridot! She's a tap dancer!
Everyone's attention is on Mr. Greg (and rightfully so), but I want to talk about a thing in Drop-Beat Dad because I really love it. You ask whether we were given that Marty was Sour Cream's dad. The answer is, we were but you have to pay attention and connect the dots. We learned that Vidalia is Sour Cream's mom (and Onion is his step brother). When we last saw Vidalia, she was tumbling out of the back of Greg's van with Marty. Later that same episode, Marty seems REALLY eager to get out of Beach City IMMEDIATELY.
Honestly the Pearl/Greg friendship is elite. Steven could’ve had such a different childhood if they could’ve gotten along. I love how much Pearl has grown through the seasons. 😊 Also Mr Greg had EPIC music. I love Steven’s song at the end.
A creepy thing to notice about Marty is that Sour Cream calls him 'Dad' throughout the episode but Marty never calls SC his son even once.
It's a common thing with deadbeats. I think they made it that way to exaggerate the fact that he wasn't there for Sourcream, and that he wasn't interested in him either.
It's never about their kids, only ever about what benefits themselves.
Pearl's voice actress deedee hall is actually a broadway singer. makes sense she got pipes haha.
Mr. Greg is one of my most re-watched episodes, it’s just phenomenal from start to finish
Mr. Greg is one of my absolute favorite episodes. It's so good and powerful, every moment.
Zach Callistan really kills it on his song at the end too. It takes a lot of talent to sing so beautifully while also doing a character voice!
"It's over isn't it" just being one of my favorite songs in any show ever!
"It's Over, Isn't It" is such an incredible song on its own, but Steven's little reprisal at the end, singing it in a completely different meaning and turning it on its head from mournful loss to relief at his family healing... Hits so good.
This episode and pearls song is the reason I started looking for reaction videos to Steven universe in the first place, I still get teary eyed hearing the power in her song. It started with 'do it for her' and "it's over isn't it' cemented it for me
Mr. Greg hit me in the feels when I first watched it during air time
Love the reactions! And both of these episodes. Mr. Greg might be my favourite episode of the series. Fun fact: Greg still has a lot of the money. It will be referenced in future episodes.
Such a powerful episode! The emotional depth and character arc progression are so great in these later seasons. it feels organic like we're growing along with the characters rather than watching them get to a goal. one of my favorite episodes
YES!! Havent even watched yet but man was waiting on this one. Will update after the watch.
Edit: Rebecca Sugar is insane when it comes to the music for this show. Finally having this release after so long between Greg and Pearl just hits different. I was not prepared the first time I watched the ep and I was bawling at Pearl's song.
When your out all day and come back to an epic Steven reaction.
Something to note: Steven's aura in that last song was pink, possibly representing Rose
"You both love me and I love both of you" is a line that can be attributed to Rose just as much as Steven
Fun fact: It's Over, Isnt It? was inspired by Crazy World by Julie Andrews from Victor/Victoria. Especially the rotating sequence.
When Marty keeps saying "real talk," it makes me think of Andre 3000's verse from the song "Walk It Out." -- "Walk it out like an usher / If you say 'real talk' I probably won't trust ya"
You guys should definitely understand that it was this song that won so many fans over. And you are right about the music in general.
Mr. Greg is straight up one of the best episodes of Steven Universe in its entirety, like top 3 episode easy
Mr Greg really is one of the best episodes of the series. Of course I love musicals, so that adds to it.
Saw the thumbnail and stopped something else I was doing to watch this.
I know everyone loves Mr. Greg… BUT
THE YELLOWTAIL AND SOUR CREAM HUG HAD ME ACTUALLY CRYING WHEN I WATCHED THIS THE FIRST TIME
fun fact: the "muh-muh" dialect that yellowtail and sour cream speak is actually Dutch. Steven just doesn't understand them and only hears "muh muh"
Two of the most powerful episodes. Drop Beat Dad depicted the absent dad situation so well.
Pearl & Greg reconciling is every kids dream, in a dysfunctional family. And Steven's relief at the end 😭
Have you guys thought about including a bit of the post-episode discussion for the final episode in an upload? It's a little sad that we get that for the first episode, but not for the second/last each time when that last episode happens to have more to talk about then the first, like what happened here. Also, marty being Sour Cream's dad was previously implied (Vidala and Marty both being together in the back of Greg's van in the intial flashback episode which is sorta skeevy considering she was a teenager, Vidala talking about marty being an ex with amethyst and her mentioning sour cream being her son, etc)
We did but 90% of viewers leave within 5-10 seconds of the reaction ending so leaving it in on the YT versions hurt the videos.
We did a end of season review for the last two seasons and the viewership dropped off a cliff edge for both so sadly it’s down to viewer habits that dictate what we leave in 😔
@@ProjectSenpai Hmmm, maybe once everything is said and done with the series, you could do one big compilation upload of post-episode reactions? Is it included on the patreon versions at least?
So many reaction viewers being uninterested in reactors' reactions continues to baffle me
It’s definitely something we’re thinking about for sure. Yes, they’re always included on Patreon.
We’d likely not upload a compilation but more of an overall discussion/podcast about it
Pearls song on the balcony is my favorite in the entire series
Not me crying horribly again damn this show is so good I miss itttt
11:59 Steven's voice really sounded like Rose here.
Also greg didnt even lose all of his money! He's still rich as hell, the bill just told him he's only doing that once lmao it was either 2 mil or 8 mil so hes still got some millions left just cut down a chunk
'It's Over, Isn't It?' is one of my favorite songs in the entire series, and just generally.
YOU FINALLY REACHED DROP BEAT DAD AND MR. GREG!!!
FINALLY MR GREG YESSSSS, THAT'S ONE OF THE BEST EPS OF THE ENTIRE SHOW AND IT HAS ONE OF THE BEST SONGS JJHSDHJJH
First tales of BaSingSe, and now this!? All the feels reactions coming bundled together.
Some people love the lore heavy episodes. Meanwhile, I like the more emotional and character building episodes.
You saw the end of Sour Cream’s conception when Marty and Vidalia jumped out of the back of Greg’s van in Story for Steven.
After seeing Marty, you can see why Yellowtail was trying to steer Sour Cream away from music. He didn't want Sour Cream to be like Marty.
Been waiting for you to get to this part. "It's Over Isn't It?" Is one of my favorite songs in this season.
Two very great episodes :D
I have to admit, I cy everytime I see the "Mr. Greg" episode
This episode is ✨LEGENDARY ✨
I think it’s a super neat detail cause in the episode where we first met Marty we also met young vidalia and it’s very likely that right before then is when Marty and vidalia *cough* made *cough* sour cream
pearls song is probably one of my favorites
Remember in the first Greg flashback when Marty and Vidalia suspiciously came out of Greg's van, that would be the moment when Sour Cream was conceived.
The show gives us both Sour Cream's conception and Onion's birth just off-screen 😬
The summer of Steven is here!!!!
2:00 Farty Marty
12:22 someone who knows, what you're going through-- AAA
The notes, or maybe the delivery? And the hands shot
Pearl trying to sing it at the end 🥹
I was in shock when I saw this was the episode you guys reacted to next, until I realized how early in season 3 it really was XD
The best song in steven universe man
Mr Greg is my favorite episode for many reasons
Its important that Greg and pearl sort of accept eachother, it also has some slight foreshadowing in one of the songs.
And its a musical episode, so yeah
Mr. Greg is my favorite episode, i love it sm
As a girl in love with a girl unrequited for almost a decade, it’s over isn’t it hits a little toooooo hard💀
Es todo no es asi..🌹
As a german we are infact earning our living to 80% of DJing
Waited soo long for this...
I thought they were related 🤣
Empire City is actually New York, not Jersey. Also, Beach City is based on the cities along the Jersey Shoreline. So, either Steven lives in part of Jersey and he refers to Trenton as Jersey, or the Jersey Shoreline is part of a different state because of the alternate history and timeline of the show.
They know Empire is NYC - in the episode when we first see the city, Steven and Lapis go to Jersey immediately after, and he's using that to remind him of the episode. And Beach City is based on Delaware and/or Maryland, not the Jersey Shore. (That's why Beach City is in the state of Delmarva, which is the name of a real-world region including parts of Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.)
@@ColinTedford Well, they might know it's NYC, but they accidentally called it Jersey. I can swear though, that Rebecca did an interview and said Beach City was Atlantic City, but I guess I'm wrong about that.
@@ColinTedford I just looked it up, and she said it was based on Ocean City, which is in Maryland. My brain must have switched Ocean City with Atlantic City. lol
@@StrangeStartrackerArt They didn't - he says, "they flew over it, and then there was that Jersey ripoff" (at about 8:40). (It doesn't really matter - I only checked because I wondered if I'd misheard them)
@@StrangeStartrackerArt Haha, and there's that funny bit in the episode where Steven and Lapis fly around where he lists a bunch of similar names that are all sea-related word + town-related word, too (I can't remember any of them but it always makes me chuckle)
Children's cartoons did not hit like Mr. Greg when I was a kid!
has it said how rose died
12:16 any reason why they're that color? hmmm 😏
do any of you guys have any dxd figures
First
who cares
I care. Good job my guy.
👍🏿
Sorry... I'm don't with your reactions. I was waiting for this episode.. and you did a bad job.. talking over the most important songs... Bye
👋
Lol what? They were obviously listening and besides, how would you even know with the editing?
I do like Greg is connecting to the gems since They lost Rose. And all thanks to Steven.🥹
IM SO EXITED FOR THE STEVEN BOMBS IN THIS SEASON
