    A nice easy project for an overcast/rainy afternoon. Thanks for the tutorial! I used 3mm cords and that worked out fine. I also adjusted the top to be a square knot loop since I only had two rings and didn't want to buy another pack for one more lolol.
    I followed the advice of another commenter for avoiding waste cord and shortened the cord lengths by 50 cm.
    Another tip would be to not pre-cut everything as weird as that sounds. I only pre-cut my 2 350cm, 2 200cm, and 4 160 cm cords. From there, I would just measure the inner cords as you go and double that length and that will be the length that you add each row. Then you can eyeball your length and add or decrease rows as needed (I ended up adding one more row). This also lets you use any longer bits for the gather knots you do later or the small bits you might add to fill out the fringe instead of having it go to waste.
    Lastly, instead of the fringe, I added beads and square knotted them in place and then combined out a small fringe. Based it off a reddit post of someone's hammock that they made from this video 😊

    Awesome tutorial!! It makes a hammock on the smaller side so if you make it, just keep that in mind :)

    There is a lot of waste with these measurements and instructions. I added 2 more pairs of strands to the sides AND cut off excess from the middle strands and used in the sides and still had a lot of waste. I suggest shortening the center strands and adding at least 3 pair for f additional strands to the sides…maybe even four. I used approximately 90 cm for each one.

      Thank you so much for saying this 😊 Yes definitely you can add beads to it, I think on the outer edges where you are adding on the new ropes with larks head knot it will be nice to have rope beads in there. Good luck!

    This is amazing! Is there any way to hide the ends instead of making them a fringe? I’d love to make this for my kids but it’ll be too much of a hazard for them with the ends.

    • @SummerMacrame
      @SummerMacrame  Před 2 lety +3

      Thank you! After you attach the ropes with a double half hitch knot, I suggest making another double knot to secure it even further and then cut the ropes short. That should keep it in place ☺️

    I don’t suppose you have any alternative suggestion instead of a hanging rack? This will be my second project and I’m just not ready to spend $50 for something I don’t really have room for…

      I used push pins in the wall and adjusted as needed and it worked fine for me, but I just found a garment rack online at Target for $9 the other day so you can check that out if you’re interested!

      Could also use chairs, like the bars on the sides and then attach the top point to the wall with push pins or nails or something

      @SummerMacrame  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hiya. this is the total length that you need to cut. After you have cut the cords, you then fold them in half and attach them. Thank you for watching!

    How should i go if i wanted to make this double in size? Should I just double the number of ropes?

    • @SummerMacrame
      @SummerMacrame  Před 2 lety

      Yes I think that would work, but I’m not 100% sure! Add the double number of ropes but also increase the length of the ropes or you will run short. Good luck 💕

    • @bethanyfabig4000
      @bethanyfabig4000 Před 2 lety +4

      did you ever try to double this in size? how did it go doubling the rope and everything? it feels like so much rope to double but this hammock just isnt big enough for what I need it for.
