Friend I have been to USSR in the year 1966,/68 I could read and write Russian language but due to my age and No practice I have forgotten please help me.
/
She is Russian and I can tell by the way she is speaking. Those of you saying Russians don't look "Asian", you're so ignorant! Russia has many indigenous people just like America and Canada. Also, eastern Russia is Siberia, which is Asia. Russia is in Asia. I'm native Russian and Russian.
I thought she might be American by the way she spoke English!
nick wiles
No you can hear that russian accent in how she softens her consonants. But her english is excellent and otherwise sounds totally native to my american ears.
I work with the public. This man in Asian appearance along with his son came to me. He had his son translate for him. The boy conversed fluently in English, however everything the young boy said to his was in Russian. Immediately I looked at his ID he handed me and noticed he had a very long Last Name. I knew then that this man was from originally from Russia or close proximity to it.
William Albert
Yes.Even if you look at the earliest films shot in Russia at the turn of the twentieth century you can see that they have been a very ethnically diverse civilization throughout their history. Most of the Russian immigrants in my area are Jewish and its very common to see an older person bring along a son or daughter to translate.
russia is not just in asia.
THIS COMMENT GOES OUT TO THOSE WHO THINK RUSSIAN IS HARD: Children learn ANY LANGUAGE in less than 3 years. Why? Because they humble enough and are submerged into it from birth. Learn like a child. Children are FLUENT and then they are LITERATE. If you try to be Fluent and Literate at the same time, yes any language will be hard. Just learn like a child and you'll be fluent in no time.
Children learn language so fast because their brain is hard wired to do so at a certain age. Adults have different psychological limitations than kids (who have many advantages) ,and require formal studying time. Immersion is still the best way, but it is going to be hard for an adult to become immersed without being able to read it. Just my opinion
Bull. The only problem with adults is they get jaded and lazy.
Daphne Slater but i'm trying to learn english from long time ago but i can speak it fluently and i tried every way i heard i don't know what's wrong with me ? could you please help me if you know any particular way to speak fluently i'll be thrilled
Aabsolutely agree! And I personally think that adults bother too much on grammar things and it really impedes learning language.
moataz medo probably the best way to start speaking a language you're learning is to communicate with the native speakers...and it doesn't really matter if you do a lot of mistakes at first=)
Man, i thought i was gunna own this shit until i saw "Zdrastvujte"
I already knew it from gta iv, lol, ik hes serbian, but they're very similar languages
lmfao same and that was the second word fucc
haha same here. got my tongue all twisted bruhh
SDoGx54 hahaha same here!!

There was a new polish girl in my classroom who understood Russian so I decided I should learn
most of polish people learn russian :D
+Sams Pop How did it go?
+alexdol811 well she learned English before I could learn Russian :/
+Mark-Thomas Charnick wtf no! that's not true
Most elder Polish learned Russian, but it is not common now. You should better learn Polish to communicate with her :)
This is so helpful. I have a student (Pre-K) who fled Ukraine and only speaks Russian. I'm trying to pick up a few phrases to make communicating easier while she learns English. Thank you! ❤
Chto is what kak dela is how are you chto ty delayesh is what are you doing menya zavut is my name is it’s simple to learn
She is the best ever! I am so relieved to have finally found someone who can break down each word and phrase so that my moronic American ear can understand 😂. Seriously. I consider myself to be fairly gifted with learning other languages, but not so with Russian! I have been obsessed with the idea of learning 🇷🇺 since I was in kindergarten, and yet I've never been able to get very far... Until now! So excited!
I love these videos, she is actually really good at teaching! Some videos barely explain anything to you and only put a list of words
I'm glad you like them. You can see the rest of this series at www.RussianPod101.com

I can't focus. Svetlana's just too beautiful.

How sweet! I applaud: the world needs people who - like you - are capable to appreciate what comes from further than their little home town ...
Menya zovut Bond. Menya zovut James Bond.
+ManoJota no
moye imya Bond, James Bond
Меня зовут Бонд. Меня зовут ямс бонд
No one ever says menya zovut.
Russians usually say "Ya" which means I so Ya james bong means i am james bond.
Я жамэс бонд.
Peace 👍

I spent many hours trying to find a suitable lesson of Russian, and this one is the best so far... Most of others just talk unnecessarily in not good enough English. Why? We don't always have English - speaking students. My goal was to find how to teach Russian using ONLY target language. No materials on the subject. This one can be used, Thank you very much for that

Greetings from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 !
i noticed she prounces A in words that have O. Like in "Do svidanya" she reads "Da svidanya".Is this an error or are Os sometimes pronounced As?
Hello Tuga Huga, If [o] is not stressed, it is pronounced as [a].

Learn Russian with RussianPod101.com den is day what is afternoon in russian?
вечер vecher
No it is not an error....it is standard Russian phonetics and Russian sounds. In Russian, sounds get reduced based on stress giving you the "a" instead of the "o".
If it were an error.....innovative language channel wouldn't have published it.
Smithin Beast
День - this just simply means "day" and is often used at noon and a little after.
Вèчер - this is "afternoon" and "evening" they are interchangeable.

Your voice is cool
I agree.

Russia has 11 time zones a Russian friend of mine told me. Pretty big country. When I was a kid T. V. portrayed people from Russia only one way. I have a Russian friend who looks similar to Svetlana. She has the same features. She speaks English very well and can translate just as well as Svetlana. Her name is Lyudmila but she prefers to be called Mila. I like the teaching style here. I'm learning. Здравствуйте меня зовут Джойс. Gotta learn the alphabet though, no J, so I have to improvise, Lol!
Svetlana : it's very common to shake hands in Russia
Meanwhile me : even in corona pandemic?🥺🥺
Yes. The men shake hands during the corona pandemic .

You have very beautifully accent. Better, than Joanna from Polski w Trzy Minuty. ;) Greetings from Poland. :>
that "Zdrasti" bit was a little confusing, since the sound was clearly "Zdrastvui" instead. Which one is correct?
1:29 that's not right lol
4Nn1E I was wondering if anyone else caught that and I was looking through the comments for this! Haha
yeah i thought i had it wrong
Some people do not love nor value knowledge and the learning another language that will cause them to be an effective communicator with their fellow humans.
