i think it is implied he did in kenshins vision where he is depressed. Kenshin had no reason to know that he was gonna conquer hell yet he sees him in this vision sitting on a throne so i think its canon he succeeded.
He's going to have to get pass Frieza and Cell first and that ain't happening.
Shishio lost the battle... but despite he's methods, He Won the argument... That is what makes him the best antagonist in the series/manga... and among the best in animation history
He was stronger in the battle and still lost. So in that case you could make an argument he lost

Shishio died due to overexerting his burnt body. He had to fight a lot of people too. Kenshin uses the reverse-blade sword which seems to have little effect on Shishio. All blunt attacks seem to do barely anything, including the ultimate technique of Kenshin. Sure that hurt, but Sanosuke’s fist and other Kenshin Sword Strikes did not really do anything. I think if Kenshin is pissed off and using a killing sword he might be able to win on his own.

This was a show that came on after school that's some heavy shit for a show after school and the darker tone in the second arc made it a must watch for me, that's why anime better than anything in America in the early 00s It felt more mature and made for an older audience.
He's the first and always be my most favourite villain in anime of all time.

Love seeing Shishio get some attention! He's the most underrated anime villain ever. Seems Rurouni Kenshin as a whole is just lost in a sea of shonen series these days, seeing you bring some pride to it so articularely made me smile!
If I could offer some advice--it was a little hard to understand you at a few points in this video. Slow down a little, and really focus on annunciating. Take it from a graduate of theatre, you're not doing your job unless your microphone is covered in spit. Keep up the great work!
73windman I appreciate the criticism, I’ll work on that, definitely something I noticed when putting the video together and I’m just generally poor at speaking. I love that you appreciate what I’m doing, I saw that not many people try to understand Shishio so this was my shot at it. And if I ever work on a future project, I’ll take your criticisms to heart and REALLY focus on my delivery, maybe on a character like Sojiro that would work really well. If you want any clarifications on my points feel free to ask.
Shishio’s portrayal in the anime and the live action films is truly haunting. It’s like a sinister psychopath keeping himself cool while unleashing unhinged brutality against his foes at the same time
Ikeda Masanori, Steve Blum and Fujiwara Tatsuya manage to portray Shishio very well
it was hard to understand because your swordsman spirit was low. Take it as a graduate from the hiten mitsurugi youre not doing your job unless the Amakakeru Ryū no Hirameki is mastered.

Shishio is such a freakin Badass 🔥
And the great irony of the destiny is that Shishio was defeated by Kenshin in life, but posthumously beated him when Japan, at the end of the 19th century, adopted Shishio's ideology and philosophy as State Policy and started an expanionist policy, waging wars against China and Russia and even participating in the First World War. In other words, he got posthumously what he don't got in life.

I mean Shishio is kind of right that mankind is inherently wicked. But that has more to do with humanity having a sin nature, and has no chance of overcoming it without Christ. That said, he’s a pretty good villain, and I look forward to seeing him in the reboot.

17:22 Ironically, this proves Shishio right.
Because Kenshin (a guy who is both physically and morally stronger) survives while Shishio (a man whose weakness made him desperate to show how strong he is which led to his already weak body burning itself out) died in flames.
This only shows how good this character is
What i liked about him most was that Shishio just needed to see a move once to reduce its effectiveness and counter it.
He's also bloody intelligent and possessed an iron will sticking by his philosophy of 'if you're strong you live and if you're weak you die' to the bitter end.

the thing is, yes shishio was kinda right and wrong at the same time, after this era japan entered an era with the same ideals of idealized strength to compete with foreign powers during ww 2 and yet at the same time after this era of bloodshed it became one of the most peaceful and prosperous countries taking it's place as one of the biggest in the world
SHISHIO MAKOTTO for me is the most powerfull and underrated Villain in the series😈💪
He is Kenshin’s greatest nemesis since they are both equally skilled in terms of swordsmanship yet when it comes to attitude and personality, Kenshin is a noble individual while Shishio is a psychopath with ambitions to rule Japan through anarchy and violence.

to be honest, some of kenshins first attacks on Shishio would have killed him if he was using a regular sword.

Shishio killed Yumi just like how Kenshin killed Tomoe.
The best part is that Shishio didn’t even know or care about Tomoe. It’s just who he is.
I have a soft spot for the arch nemesis who has zero personal connection to the hero but managed to get under the hero’s skin the most because he represents the worst version that the hero could have been and does things against everything the hero stands for.
One could also say Shishio and Battousai represent Japan before the end of world war 2, militaristic, nationalistic and evil while Kenshin represents Japan post world war 2, knowing himself that he’s capable of evil and is trying his hardest to be a pacifist in order to atone for past sins.

Shishio would smack him, and he should’ve smacked him even after his burns. I mean technically makoto didn’t really lose to him, he just burned down.

But he wouldn’t have the secret Hiten Mitsurugi technique so he might still be at a disadvantage. It’s a weird situation because post war Kenshin is probably stronger than Battousi but he doesn’t have the same killer edge.
I think they could have been evenly match but I also think kinjie will lose to shishio after a high difficulty battle. even his master hiko sujiro knows this. In my opinion it would take sujiro himself to put shishio down during the assassins era.

Lol hiko wouldn't have a problem. He would have been killed after one techique. Kenshin shouldn't have had a problem with him even after 15 fights in two hours, his sword/vow is such a handicap. In reality, kenshin could kill everyone with a Ryūshōsen and called it a day.
Depends on which shishio you are asking for if it's prime shishio without those burns than he might have chance to pull out victory.
