I'm surprised how new it appears to be. Thanks for the review.

Ecstatically blooming lower mid range; beautiful. I always think that Baldwins are very good. These seem to be special, too.

Very pleasant tone for the price range better than older 60’s70s other consoles. It seems like there was an overall improvement in the quality of us pianos from the 80’s on as competition with Japan and Korea ramped up

I don’t see why “lower middle range” type categories have much meaning. The tone is obviously very beautiful. Action and hammers fitting to the size and tone surely. Tuning stability probably as good as any. My Steinway has capstans that aren’t tight enough and so require adjustment more than they should, and key bushings which didn’t last as long as I would think they should. So even on issues like that the “top tier” doesn’t seem superior. The one thing might be voicing, because as you say those hammers seem a little hard in the upper range. But I’d think it is a very very nice piano after some voicing. It seems to have a European type tone. It’s glassy/silky and has immediate appeal to many but the more percussive American sound can be favored by some I think if they are totally confident of a bold musical statement. I think Kimball has a largely “unflavored” type American sound, with Steinway a bit colder yet and Baldwin and Weber both being “flavored” toward some kind of implicit sentimentality.

The piano is a very solid low to mid range instrument I agree it’s subjective. The tone, woods, touch geometry and hammer choice can be very good on these but there’s an underlying material and professional skill also smaller size that is hard to categorize. I understand what you mean with this point. I’m trying to help people simplify the buying process but it is hard to provide an easy objective guide. It’s better than almost all older consoles and definitely spinets
