The thing is that 4K scales down perfectly with 1080p while 1440p doesn’t. When you record in 4K and somebody watches it on CZcams with a 1080p monitor, it looks normal as if it was filmed originally on a 1080p monitor. This is *not* the case between 1440p and 1080p, although imo 1440 is one of the best options and it’s what I use personally

If you look at benchmarks for War Thunder, it's so CPU bound that 1080p and 1440p run at the same speed with any decent modern graphics card. 4K is barely a drop off as far as frame rates go.
Reason you didn't spot the Yak-38 was because it was an AI IL-28. Personally I hate AI in jet matches, their engine noise, heat signatures messing with missle/radar locks etc always throws me off/distracts me in games which gets annoying, especially at 11.0. If you're gunna have AI in jet matches have them off to the side like on Spain so they don't mess things up in the center of the map Gaijin!!
I have to say, I love the lightning but it is a PAIN during stock, when I got the firestreaks it became a new plane (yes the missiles aren't that good but it really needs those) and I still haven't the red tops cause the plane is soooo hard to fly when you are not perfectly accurate with those guns, it kind of lacks consistency between a hard time carrying the team when the team is not that good and it also has problems picking up kills when the team stomps... the bonus chances to get kills of the redtops are really what make this plane viable to fly without losing ressources
On what you said about it helping compression: Totalbiscuit used to upload in 4k even though he only recorded in 1080p. He made sure to upscale everything in post and it really did help with the compression issues that you see when there is a great density of things on screen.
Red tops were specifically designed to take down soviet bombers and mig21's via a quick approach at high altitude and move on. Also the Red Tops at time of introduction were limited all aspect (Early all aspect), with the sidewinder all aspects released over 12 years after the Red Top. In war thunder they are only rear aspect, slower than their real life counterparts and have a much shorter range (They were long range missiles with the ability to travel over 7 miles at over Mach 3 above 1000ft). In game i believe they are only M2.5 and have half the range. Gaijin have given the low altitude stats and made them default at all altitudes. The lightning could happily sit at 9.7 in the upcoming BR changes if they slightly buffed the Red Tops. Atm, due to their inaccurate speed and tracking, are only useful at very close range, when in reality their fast speed and tracking made them far better than all export sidewinders out at the time. Also the beer we Brits drink is either local breweries or "Any" beer... i mean we are British... what beer the world has... we drink lol

EEL gang for sure. It's ability to snap a short distance when you initially start turning is really nice sometimes for those reflex last second gun shots, really surprises some people. The acceleration is really nice too, I once had an f104C type in the chat confused as to how I was catching up to it, of course it was eventually faster due to wing limitations at low altitudes, but I almost had it.
I have a 2080Ti and I can nail 4K@120 most of the time, but you can´t just move all the slider to max. You have to tinker and know the tradeoffs that different settings bring. But in most games, even 2080Ti can reach 4K@120 on +- high settings. But honestly, I agree that 1440p is much more reasonable. 4K isn´t worth it, epscially in fast paced games with good visibility. But in War Thuder even on 2080 (and 3070 and better) you can just crank everything to the max and expect 100+ FPS in 4K

@@frankalvarez9636 I tend to not use DLSS (after the fiasco of its first iteration, I know it got much better now, but still not quite there, at least in my experience) and just stick to native 4K and reach my goal some other way (mostly by forgoing Anti-Aliasing, as the pixel are quite small and just basic TAA (on non agresive settings like no first frame blur and short reset frame number (if such controls are available)) or even FXAA are more than enough.) The only game I run with DLSS is COD MW (2019) as it would require too many sacrifices (nullifying the point of playing in 4K) and it actually looks quite solid.

Actually, Lightning F mk.6 was a bit far from flying rocket. From mk.6, Lightning's main wing got revised for low speed flight stability. That's why you get speed warning quite early. This is one of reason Lightning Mk.53, based from Mk.6, got exported with multirole modifications.

Just got the EEL yesterday so timing of this video is perfect! Feeling the stock grind but i turned vertical targeting on and it helped me with the guns. Only problem is if someone wants to chase you they can't catch you but you can't turn and re-engage without running across half the map to build up enough seperation.
Got toptier jets for everyone but france and this thing is my most played jet out of all of them. Love it's goofy ass clumsy flying style combined with extreme speed.
I used to play WT in 4K 60Hz. It looked incredible and my god the resolution made sim easy because I could see people up to the render distance for their dots. Could even do aircraft recognition at about 15Km when zooming in. I’ve since uninstalled but the last time I was playing was with my 3440x1440 monitor that ran at 144Hz. I got it to replace my 4K monitor because the colours were so much better and the better refresh rate. Things didn’t look as crisp but damn it was silky smooth. Either way, the high resolution and high refresh rate is just a lovely thing to have. It reminds why I don’t use consoles anymore lol

Just got my Electric Lightnin' and I pretty much love it. Maybe it's also because Lightning F.6 is one of those planes I really wanted in my hangar when I was completelly new to this game. Also what do you guys think about the event Buccy s.1? Should I keep it or just sell on the trade market?
The lightning is an interceptor. I used to take min fuel at the start of a match, climb like a motherfucker up to about 10Km. You could be there in about 90s too. Get behind the enemy, fire your missiles, rtb then rearm and refuel with a full fuel load. Play it as an interceptor then support aircraft and it will reward you greatly. Don’t dogfight, though no afterburner at 900km/h and it will just snap that nose around quickly. It will only do this once before bleeding all of that energy, but it’s useful in a pinch. Use your radar, it’s surprisingly good for a 50’s jet! Stay fast. Also abuse the fact that it can supercruise and is the only plane in game that can stay above Mach at any altitude with no afterburner.
1080p-1440p are still brilliant resolutions - I recently went from 60hz 1080p to 144hz 1080p AND YIKES IT is a genuinely shocking difference - highly recommend 144hz!
You should take a look at the C 205N2 in the Italian tech tree. It’s one of those planes that can do literally anything, but it’s got 5 guns 3 of which are MG 151s
have you tried render your videos in higher quality than your source already? That improves the video quality on CZcams a lot. with that method you probably don´t need to play on 4k to get better video quality
To everybody saying 1440p is a better option than 4K - you're generalizing. For most games, yes, 4K is way harder to run. Go look at benchmarks. War Thunder is so CPU bound that if Spit does eventually get a new graphics card he'll be able to push 4K 144 easily as he has a 5950X. In the meantime, 4K monitors scale directly to 1080p if it's too much work for a GTX 1070.
I run a 1440p 144Hz and I couldn't ask for anything more, I've seen 4K monitors but there's very little difference in my eyes. So I recommend 1440p 144Hz and save some frames.
The reason for the red tops having poor range is that they have a large explosive mass. They were designed for shooting down large aircraft like bombers. This is what the brits were worried about in the 50’s. As for Ales that we drink, I don’t know where to start lol. Let’s just say it’s been drinking too much doombar

Well that aged quick. I got Lightning and what do I see? Only 10.3. After 58 matches it was never once a downtier. This thing is just food for F4C Phantoms, any mig21, Drakens, Harriers and stuff like that. Edit: they also added F105 which is better in every way imo.
For game like WT the higher resolution you have the better. It's not really important to get super high refresh rate so i would say 4k 75-100hz is more than enough. 144hz 4K is overkill to be honest and for slight increase in smoothness you sacrifice a lot of performance.
The american harrier is quite similar actually I remember playing it at first thing frustrated becouse it couldn't dogfight and it's missles couldn't turn then I played it bunch and found out it's missles at extremely long range and are very easily finding targets who arnt paying attention becouse if you climb high dive down fire a missle and they never expect it and it's high thrust to weight ratio (practically 1-1) make it so easy to vertically fight anything as long as you dont fight migs and you can even get lucky with a mig 19 lol I made a video on how to play the american harrier becouse I was tired of people being in the same position often resorting to bomb drops or head on turn fighting and I didn't like that thankfully nobody's seen it or else my mig 15 grinding would be alot more painful people don't know how to play it lll
The adens should be worse. That guns have 745m/s muzzle velocity not 815m/s (The DEFAs get that velocity). So with that the plane can be 10.0 not 9.7 even can out run a su17m2

related to the missile bit, late in the Lightning's service life, Britain did think about equipping the Lightnings with 9Ls.
It is not worth the 4K 144Hz right now. 3090 alone cannot do games at 4K 144. In the future it will be better but for right now, 2K 144Hz is perfect!

The american harrier is quite similar actually I remember playing it at first thing frustrated becouse it couldn't dogfight and it's missles couldn't turn then I played it bunch and found out it's missles at extremely long range and are very easily finding targets who arnt paying attention becouse if you climb high dive down fire a missle and they never expect it and it's high thrust to weight ratio (practically 1-1) make it so easy to vertically fight anything as long as you dont fight migs and you can even get lucky with a mig 19 lol I made a video on how to play the american harrier becouse I was tired of people being in the same position often resorting to bomb drops or head on turn fighting and I didn't like that thankfully nobody's seen it or else my mig 15 grinding would be alot more painful people don't know how to play it lll
The adens should be worse.
That guns have 745m/s muzzle velocity not 815m/s (The DEFAs get that velocity).
So with that the plane can be 10.0 not 9.7 even can out run a su17m2
id go with 1440p and 144hz, a lot cheaper and the resolution improvement is still great. I love mine.
