I was a student there in the earlu 90s and lived in Longsight. I live in London but whenever I am up in Manchester I take a drive in that area. It has changed so much. It was a simpler time back then, pre-internet.
That was INCREDIBLE!!! I grew up in Longsight. Born in St Mary's Hospital and grew up on Montgomery Road and went to Crowcroft Nursery. I live in the USA now but I always miss home. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
Wow. Chills down my spine. Born at St Mary’s in 1959 and attended Crowcroft Park. Lived next to Belle Vue and was thrown out of Jackson Clay pits so many times especially after a child drowned there. Living in the USA but it all came back.
Absolutely loved this video as i live on East Road and always wondered what my area was like years ago. It was wonderful to see what East road and Longsight in general was like many moons ago. Bought back alot of memories. Incredible!
Wow, im 18 and have lived in Longisght all my life, went to stanley grove, quite cool to see how Stockport rd, crowcroft park, stanley grove used to be, hasn't changed much but has a nice vibe to it!
I lived on East Road in 1985 went to Crowcroft park primary school and Postman Pat was my teacher lol John Cunliffe. Spent alot of time on tbe park football fights dog walking and watching the older kids breakdancing and poping. Top one mate good memories.
My auntie had a hairdressers on the corner of Homings Road many years ago, remember visiting her as kids and playing football against the big side wall, sadly she passed away about 7 years ago.
I went to Crowcroft Park school from 1959-1966, when Miss Tumelty was the Headmistress. We spent countless hours playing in Crowcroft Park and would roam all over during the Summer, with no problems. All these scenes are very familiar.
I was born on new bank st number 194 in 1962 2 up 2 down back yard with outside toilet no shower !! Moved to winsford cheshire when I was about 5 and lived here ever since but go back to new bank st often
Great video Les. I'm from the south (Pompey) and looking at the way Manchester has been decimated by planners reminds me of our city. Knock down good solid buildings and in the name of "progress" build concrete and glass abortions that pass as "architecture?"
SO much nicer back then , even in 1999. My husband is from Parry Road, near The Huntingdon Pub and moved away in 2000. It's lost its identity now and looks like Lahore. Once a lovely area but now...What a shame.

I was born and raised in Longsight. Not sure what makes you think it was a lovely area. It was cold and dangerous.
@@Zero-qk4qj Was pre 1960s, my mum was born there on Daisy Bank Road.
If it looks like Lahore you have yourself and your own people to blame.
Just recently that Huntington Pub has gone now! In its place is a steakhouse/restaurant called Howdy.
