I’m a dad with 4 kids, they didn’t want to hang around with dad much when they got to their late teens, so when I decided to get a newish car, I got a Granturismo, room isn’t a problem because only one or two of my kids come out for a drive.
So far your videos are excellent. So I’ve subscribed 👍.

A nice video, well balanced and not spoilt by preconceived ideas or views. Have had a 2001 manual for around 10 years and still love it, yes its flawed but deserves far more appreciation and respect than it currently gets - far too underrated an undervalued.

I promised my other half that I’d get a more practical car after my Boxster was written off…one that could fit the three of us, rather than having to take her Mini Clubman if we went out as a family.
I went out and bought a Quattroporte, with the Ferrari F136 engine. It’s a masterpiece and puts a massive smile on my face each time I drive it, which isn’t bad for a luxo-sports barge.
Long live the V8!

I've got a manual one of these, same colour and interior as the one in the video, just with a manual gearbox. Owned it for about 12 years. Still puts a big smile on my face. Still love it.

Must agree with the immediate mechanical feeling, despite the throttle is one of the first electronic throttle body, and one of the pain of those cars.
THATS MY CAR!!!! Hey I used to own that exact car back in 2011. I sold it to a one legged man who I think was called Ian who appreciated the automatic transmission. It had the perfect paint colour and interior combination and it was a 2001 with most of the issues of the earlier cars sorted out. Had loads of fun it and I sorted out the throttle body that always plagued these models.

@@iancullington6765 Cool I'm glad it found a nice home :) By the way, at the end of the video when the presenter was sitting and talking and the car was ticking over, it seemed to be revving in an erratic way while supposed to be idyling. I had this issue when i first bought it due to the crap original throttle body. I know this video is old now, but I hope it isn't still doing that because thats not normal, thought i'd let you know. Cheers

Interestingly Jayemm noted the on centre numbness and delay so watching you play the wheel in traffic trying to get the feel makes a lot of sense! Always quite fancied the gransport version.

I have an 07 Gransport, but as a single dad with 2 nippers in the noughties, we have a Fiat 20vt turbo. I still have the car and in it's own way I still find it as much fun as the GS.

Me too. The manual feels less likely to break too. Originally from the UK but live in the US - can confirm that the granturismo is a great dad car and daily driver. Nice car for the dry US Southwest.
Would be interesting if you did a video on reactions you get driving a DB9 and pulling two kids out of the back when yoh arrive. Makes people stare extra for sure - but lots of positive comments at least where I am.

still one of my dream cars.last of the maserati developed engines, many people forget this :). 4200 gt and on are all ferrari engines.
And funnily enough since filming this.. I sold my DB9 and got a Gransport 😚

@@dadcars agreed! I had an Audi S5 Sportback before, which was great for space, but traded it in for a Velar when baby no.2 arrived. The Velar is a great car, but doesn’t compare to the speed of the S5, especially after I tuned it!
Great video, but just to ask, what's with the cars dodgy idle?
You’d have to ask 3200 owners it did have a slight pulse to the idle but I’m not sure if that’s normal for these cars or not

I ve always heard you had to remove the engine to replace the belt. Are you sure about the 600 pounds requested for it? They charge around 4000-5000 pounds in Switzerland for it!

Throttle response is bad. Steering is bad too. If you think this is good you never drove a Mazda. And in the end of the video you can hear the idle is horrendous too.
I have owned an Elise ;) my preconception of these cars was they are not that great and it really pleasantly surprised me. I do enjoy finding the positives in older cars in a world of lane assist and electronic everything. There is joy to be found in the quirks.
I've got one of these. No it isn't (throttle), no it isn't (steering) and not it isn't (idle).
